Gigantia quickly summoned a golden card from her inventory and presented it to the young-looking elf receptionist. The receptionist's silver irises widened in surprise as she examined the card.
"A-An A-Rank Adventurer! Incredible! And from Yggdrasil as well! It is an honor to meet you, Lady Gigantia," the receptionist said warmly. "Your records show that you follow the Mountain Giant Main Path, with Ashen White Dragonoid as your second Path. Your classes are Mountain-Shattering Axe Warrior, Holy Dragon Priestess, and Maid?"
"Yeah," Gigantia replied with a friendly smile and a nod. "That's about right."
"I will not inquire into your personal life or anything of that sort, so please do not worry," the receptionist assured her. "I have connected to the Yggdrasil database, and your license has been successfully renewed in this country. It appears it has not been used for quite some time."
"Yeah, I took on another job as… well, you can probably guess," Gigantia said with a light chuckle.
The receptionist wondered why such a powerful warrior would choose to work as a maid when she could easily live a luxurious life hunting monsters, but she remained professional and kept her curiosity to herself.
"Yes, so you wish to register this young child as well?" the receptionist asked, turning her attention to Elizabeth. "There is no rule against it, but is she battle-ready? What is her level? May I see her status?"
"Uuhh…" Elizabeth fidgeted with her fingers nervously. "Can I keep that a secret? I will show you my strength instead…"
"Ah, yes, of course. Showing your status is not obligatory," the receptionist nodded. "However, if you prefer not to reveal it, you will need to pass three special tests."
"Three?!" Gigantia exclaimed, her eyes widening. "We do not have time for this…"
"Rules are rules," the receptionist replied apologetically. "If she does not wish to prove her strength through her status, she must do so through the tests."
"Ugh, I am so sorry. I did not think it would be this complicated," Gigantia apologized, looking a bit embarrassed.
"Nah, it is fine," Elizabeth said with determination. "I will do them! What are the tests about?"
"There is a Knowledge Test, a Combat Test, and a Psychological Test," the receptionist explained. "You must demonstrate that you understand what it means to be an adventurer, including monster levels, items, dangerous locations, and more. The combat test will show that you are strong enough to protect yourself, and the psychological test ensures your mind is prepared for the dangers ahead. As a child, I would normally recommend waiting a few more years…"
"Nah, I will take it," Elizabeth declared firmly.
"R-Really? Well…" The receptionist sighed softly. "That is up to you. As her guardian, Lady Gigantia, do you approve?"
"Yes… I do," Gigantia nodded after a brief pause. "Um, when can she take the tests?"
"We can schedule them for a week from now so the girl has time to prepare properly," the receptionist suggested. "I can provide her with some books to study and—"
"Can I take them now?" Elizabeth interrupted.
The receptionist fell silent for a moment, glancing between the confident young girl and Gigantia.
"Excuse me? Now? But dear, you are just—"
"I want to take them now," Elizabeth repeated calmly.
"…"
The receptionist looked back at Gigantia, who simply crossed her arms and nodded in support without saying a word.
"W-Well, if you truly wish to take them now, that is acceptable," the receptionist said, slightly flustered. "There are only a couple of other people taking the tests at the moment. You will need to wait about half an hour for your turn. Are you certain? You might fail and—"
"It is fine!" Elizabeth nodded confidently. "What is the fee, miss?"
"It is one million system points for premium registration," the receptionist replied. "There is also a free option if you show your status, but—"
"I will pay," Gigantia said without hesitation, transferring the points smoothly. "Alright."
The receptionist let out a quiet sigh, clearly puzzled by the unusual pair, but she continued with her duties professionally.
"Very well. The transaction is complete. Thank you very much for your patronage. Please have a seat over there and wait patiently. Elizabeth's name will be called when her turn arrives."
"Okay! Thanks!" Elizabeth replied cheerfully. She walked over to the seating area with Gigantia and sat down to wait.
The first floor of the guild also served as a large, lively restaurant, reminiscent of medieval fantasy taverns from Yggdrasil but modernized with large menus, rank-based discounts, and comfortable seating. Feeling a bit hungry after their journey, Elizabeth and Gigantia ordered Mega Adventurer Wyvern Burgers with triple cheese, two servings of Huge Spirit Fries made from Spirit Potatoes, Large Cola Sodas, and Vanilla Strawberry Milkshakes. It was a hearty, distinctly Earth-inspired meal.
"Wow, I have never eaten burgers like these before. They are really good!" Gigantia said with genuine surprise as she took another bite. "I never thought crushing meat into a paste and forming it into patties would taste so nice."
"Aren't there burgers in Yggdrasil? You have been here for years!" Elizabeth replied, laughing. "You have never tried one before?"
"Hahaha, unfortunately not," Gigantia admitted. "I missed out on a lot of commoner food in this world because… well…"
"Ah, yeah. You have been living with nobles who only eat fancy meals. I get it," Elizabeth laughed. "Well, this is nice too! I love it already. The milkshake is super tasty, and the soda is so bubbly! I was getting tired of just drinking fruit juice and milk back home…"
"Most of the chefs here come from Yggdrasil as well, so they serve very refined dishes," Gigantia explained. "But introducing some Earthling recipes would not hurt at all."
"Yeah, you get me!" Elizabeth nodded enthusiastically. "Plus, if—"
"Elizabeth! Reinhart! Archivald! Your turn is up!"
An ice elf receptionist called out their names. Elizabeth jumped up from her chair excitedly and headed toward him, with Gigantia following close behind. Two other candidates would be taking the tests at the same time.
Reinhart was a young half-elf with a bright red mohawk and numerous piercings on his long ears and lips. He wore black jeans, a gray shirt with a skull design, and black leather armor. A sheathed sword and guns hung at his side.
"Tche, why do we have to take the test with a little brat? What kind of nepotism is this?" he grumbled rudely, glaring at Elizabeth.
Archivald, on the other hand, was a tall, muscular brown-skinned half-orc with short white hair, sharp yellow eyes, and prominent tusks. He wore sturdy armor and remained completely silent, though his judgmental gaze also looked down on Elizabeth.
"…"
Gigantia's temper flared immediately. "Who the hell do you think you are to insult Lady Elizabeth, you piece of shit?! I will break every single one of your bones!" She grabbed Reinhart by the collar and lifted him effortlessly.
"Gaaaack!" Reinhart choked, struggling desperately to push her away, but Gigantia's immense strength kept him suspended no matter how hard he tried.
"Enough! Please do not fight!" the receptionist intervened quickly. "Fights are no longer allowed inside the building. Take any issues outside. And who are you, miss?"
"I am Elizabeth's guardian," Gigantia stated firmly.
"I see," the receptionist nodded. "Then please wait outside for now."
"Tsk!" Reinhart freed himself from her grip, shoved his hands into his pockets, and walked away like a typical delinquent.
Archivald remained silent and simply walked into the testing area.
Elizabeth turned back to Gigantia and waved cheerfully. "Do not worry, Gigantia. I will be fine! Wait for me!"
She did not seem bothered by the insult at all and entered the room with bright confidence. Gigantia let out a small sigh, hoping the young lady would handle everything smoothly.
"So this is where we take the first test?" Elizabeth asked curiously as she looked around the large room. It resembled a spacious college classroom, with around fifteen other participants already waiting. They appeared to have come from different receptionists.
"Yes. Ah, forgive my rudeness. I am Alfrion, the receptionist in charge of the tests today," the young ice elf introduced himself. "This test is simple. Just fill out the paper in front of you. You can score up to 100 points. A score of 70 or higher is a pass. A perfect score will grant you a special reward after all three tests, so do your best. We have many participants today, so we had to place everyone in one classroom."
"Heh, sounds easy peasy," Reinhart muttered as he took a seat, glaring at Archivald. "Hey, where are you from, dude?"
Archivald stayed silent and sat down without responding.
"Not a talker, huh?" Reinhart sighed, then rolled his eyes at Elizabeth. "A fucking kid… why is she even here?"
Elizabeth ignored him, sat down calmly, and began reading the test. As she expected, the questions were all topics she already knew well. There were ten questions, each worth ten points.
She picked up her pen and started writing confidently.
Some questions were straightforward, such as naming areas outside dungeons where powerful monsters lived, listing monster classifications, or explaining when a Path evolves from Tier 1 to Tier 2.
"I am done!" Elizabeth announced shortly after.
The entire class turned to look at her in surprise. Alfrion smiled and walked over.
"Are you sure about this?"
"It is fine," Elizabeth replied with a nod.
Alfrion trusted her confidence and stepped back. "Alright, everyone. Twenty-three minutes remain. Please hurry."
The participants who had been struggling began rushing through their answers or scratching their heads in frustration.
And then…
DING!
"Time's up, everyone," Alfrion announced, collecting the test papers. "It will only take a minute to grade them."
