Chapter 19 - Ch 19- Like Father, Like Son

Suddenly, in an instant, Fushiguro Shin found the concrete floor beneath his feet vanish, replaced by a bottomless abyss.

Fushiguro Shin's first reaction was that this wasn't Mahito's doing, but Kenjaku, disguised as Geto Suguru, had arrived.

The moment before his body felt weightless, Fushiguro Shin had already made a decision.

On one hand, he lacked a means to directly attack the soul, so it would take time to wear Mahito down.

If he had to deal with Kenjaku disguised as Geto Suguru at the same time, it would truly be too much.

The reason he could suppress Mahito to this extent was largely due to this dark home field advantage.

But in a two-on-one, if the area was destroyed, it wouldn't be easy to maintain this level of suppression.

Even with Nanami and Itadori, they couldn't bridge the gap here.

Fushiguro Shin immediately used Shadow Demon to escape from the spot.

In that brief gap, Fushiguro Shin's eyes met those of 'Geto Suguru', who was quickly leaving with Mahito.

[Before his true name is exposed, he will still be referred to as Geto Suguru.]

Geto Suguru recognized him at a glance, it was Toji's eldest son.

Seeing Fushiguro Shin vanish into the shadows, Geto Suguru's brow furrowed slightly.

He couldn't help but wonder: wasn't Fushiguro Shin's reaction a bit too fast?

Even against a First-Grade or Special Grade Jujutsu Sorcerer, Geto Suguru was confident the Great Catfish could affect them, creating a momentary opening.

It seemed Fushiguro Shin stopping the Special Grade Cursed Spirit and Sukuna last time wasn't a coincidence; he truly possessed that level of strength.

Geto Suguru quickly left the area with Mahito.

Geto Suguru looked at Mahito, who rarely showed fear on his face, and asked, "What happened? This wasn't part of the plan. Are you alright?"

Mahito's body kept regenerating as he trembled, saying, "So scary... so scary, I almost really died...!"

Hearing this, Geto Suguru's expression changed slightly.

Almost killed Mahito?

Geto Suguru knew Mahito's situation well; from a killability standpoint, Mahito was extremely difficult to deal with, and his escape skills were top-tier.

So he continued curiously, "Is he your natural enemy? Can he attack your soul?"

Mahito just held his head, repeating distractedly, "Shadows... shadows... shadows!"

Geto Suguru realized the shock was too great this time; he needed to wait for Mahito to calm down and return to normal before getting more information.

Recalling Fushiguro Shin's maneuver of entering the shadows to leave, Geto Suguru began searching his memory for all shadow-related Cursed Techniques.

The result was obvious: the strongest should be the Zenin Family's Ten Shadows Technique.

Moreover, Fushiguro Shin carried the blood of the Zenin Family. Although there were no recorded cases of a Reverse Heavenly Restriction awakening a Cursed Technique, awakening the Ten Shadows Technique was within the realm of possibility.

But the biggest problem was that the Ten Shadows Technique in his memory wasn't something that could push Mahito to this extent.

Even with the strongest move of the Ten Shadows Technique, given Mahito's abilities, he should have been able to escape even if he couldn't win.

Thinking of this, Geto Suguru glanced at Mahito again, who was still in a state of shock and weakness, completely lacking his usual composure as a Cursed Spirit.

In this state, how could he not have tried to escape?

"So, it's a shadow technique different from the Ten Shadows Technique, yet capable of rivaling it?"

Geto Suguru shook his head with a smile, murmuring to himself.

"Fushiguro Shin, is this a case of 'like father, like son'? Truly a headache."

At this stage, the clues could only support his reasoning this far; the rest would have to wait for Mahito to provide more intel.

At least based on current information, the strength Fushiguro Shin displayed and his actions would undoubtedly create variables in his plan... When Nanami and the others arrived, they only saw Fushiguro Shin sitting at the entrance of the sewer.

Seeing Nanami's expression, which was slightly angry yet mixed with concern, Fushiguro Shin spoke directly.

"The culprit is a humanoid Cursed Spirit of at least Special Grade. He has high intelligence and can communicate normally. I couldn't kill him; he was taken away by a companion."

Nanami processed Fushiguro Shin's words; those few sentences contained a lot of information.

Hearing the words 'Special Grade Cursed Spirit', Ijichi Kiyotaka's face turned pale, and he took out his phone to start drafting a message.

Hearing 'Special Grade Cursed Spirit', Itadori unconsciously thought of his previous experiences, and his expression changed as well.

Nanami asked with a hint of reproach, "Shin, why did you act on your own?"

"I just didn't want you to get involved. He isn't an enemy suited for you to face, Nanami-senpai."

Nanami's brow furrowed slightly.

Thinking his explanation was inadequate, Fushiguro Shin added, "I don't mean to question your strength, Nanami-senpai, but his ability can reshape someone's body just by touching them. He's really not suitable for a close-combat Jujutsu Sorcerer like you. Besides, he can use a Domain... you understand, right?"

Though Fushiguro Shin didn't continue, Nanami understood his meaning.

If dragged into a Domain, a Cursed Technique with that effect would be almost certain death under the Domain's guaranteed-hit effect.

Fushiguro Shin lowered his head and spoke seriously, "I'll accept it even if you blame me, Nanami-senpai, but if given the choice again, I would still act this way."

Nanami suddenly found it a bit funny. Was the first person he worried about not Itadori, but himself as the senior?

Well, Sukuna resided in Itadori's body; Sukuna wouldn't just sit by if there was danger.

He hadn't expected that he had now become a burden to be worried about by his junior.

Although their strengths were now vastly different, Nanami was certain that Fushiguro Shin was still the same Fushiguro Shin he knew.

[Nanami's favorability increased to 25. Gained 500 experience.]

Nanami patted Fushiguro Shin's shoulder and said, "Don't do this again. No matter what your strength is now, I have no reason to let you face danger alone."

"But he..."

"I am the adult, and you are the child. I have an obligation to protect you first."

[Killed Yoshino Junpei. Significantly altered 'Young Fish and Reverse Punishment'. Gained a total of 30,000 experience reward.]

Nanami stepped into the sewer, looking at the sharp cuts everywhere and the metallic scent of the large patches of dark red blood.

Nanami could already imagine how terrifyingly intense the battle had been.

He then thought of how Fushiguro Shin, whom he had just seen, didn't have a single wound on his body.

So Shin might be even stronger than I imagined; he really was worried about me.

Nanami reached this conclusion in his heart.
