Chapter 135 - Chapter 135: House Viewing

The four of them walked into the housing sales agency in Millishion.

As soon as they entered, a staff member slowly approached and asked, "May I ask whether you are looking to rent or purchase a property?"

"We're not very familiar with the houses here. Could you give us a detailed introduction?" Dan Feng asked the staff member in a calm tone.

The staff member quickly nodded and replied, "Of course, that's part of my job." Her voice was gentle and polite, making her feel very approachable.

From the staff member's attitude, it was clear she was not someone who harbored prejudice against demon races.

In fact, from the look in her eyes, there was not the slightest trace of disgust toward demon races.

Next, the staff member took out a booklet from a drawer, gently opened it, and displayed it in front of the four of them.

The booklet contained detailed records of all properties for sale, including location, size, layout, renovation status, and more.

The staff member began introducing the advantages and features of each house one by one, along with their respective prices.

Her explanations were clear and easy to understand.

However, Galdaruf and Mayibeia standing nearby appeared somewhat embarrassed.

They hadn't expected Dan Feng to directly bring them here to inquire about house prices. At this moment, both of them felt a little awkward.

On the other side, Roxy looked especially excited.

She listened attentively to the staff member's introduction, her heart filled with anticipation.

Because she knew Dan Feng had already decided to buy a house in Millishion—this meant they were about to have a real home that truly belonged to them.

It had to be said that housing prices in Millishion were quite expensive—basically around 800 Millis gold coins each.

Dan Feng had taken a liking to two properties. He asked the staff member if she could take them to view the houses inside, and she readily agreed.

They followed the staff member to a relatively open area that was still part of the residential district, though it felt somewhat deserted because it was a bit far from the commercial area.

The two properties they were going to view were actually better described as mansions.

They weren't ordinary apartments with a few rooms and halls, but rather large residences similar to the family estates described in novels.

They first arrived at the smaller mansion. It was a two-story design with a small courtyard, though it had no basement.

Mayibeia and Galdaruf stood in the courtyard looking at the mansion, unable to suppress the excitement in their hearts.

This mansion perfectly suited their tastes, and the surroundings were very quiet—ideal for Mayibeia to move in and rest during her pregnancy.

When they stepped through the main door, a wave of dust hit them immediately.

"Sorry about that. Since the house would be renovated if someone buys it, we haven't arranged for anyone to clean it," the staff member said with a slightly embarrassed expression before resuming her explanation of the interior layout.

There were many rooms, and the sizes were just right. The staff member also mentioned that they could provide free renovation, so Dan Feng decided this would be Galdaruf and Mayibeia's marital home.

This was also Dan Feng's way of thanking the two of them for bringing him back to live at the tavern in the beginning.

After all, if they hadn't brought him to the tavern back then, his fate might have changed dramatically.

Afterward, they continued forward and arrived in front of another mansion.

This mansion had a somewhat special location—it sat at the edge of the residential district. Just a short walk further would bring them into an area where some of Millishion's nobles resided.

Compared to the previous one, this mansion was much larger in scale.

Just the courtyard alone was at least twice the size of the landlady's tavern!

Roxy's eyes widened in shock. She could hardly believe what she was seeing.

In her mind, only noble estates had courtyards this large.

That was why she was so stunned.

When they stepped through the mansion's main gate, they were even more shocked by the scale of the entrance hall.

The hall was incredibly spacious—large enough to comfortably hold a grand party of about fifty people.

On both sides of the hall were several rooms of regular size.

To the right was a large dining room. Opposite the dining room was an open kitchen, with a small attached room beside it.

To the left was a spacious living room. Opposite the living room were the toilet, bathroom, changing room, and another small attached room.

At the far end of the hall was the staircase leading to the second floor, and behind the staircase was a basement for storage.

"This is the entrance to the basement," the staff member's voice sounded a bit abrupt in the quiet environment. She slowly reached toward an oil lamp on the wall that was thickly covered in dust.

With a soft 'click,' the lamp was lit. The faint flame flickered in the darkness, looking as though it might go out at any moment.

The staff member carefully carried the oil lamp to the basement door and gently pushed open the heavy wooden door.

The hinges creaked loudly. The moment the door opened, a stale, musty smell rushed out, causing everyone to instinctively wrinkle their noses.

At that moment, several rats suddenly darted out from under their feet. Startled by the sudden light, they scattered in panic in all directions.

Seeing this, the staff member looked slightly embarrassed but quickly regained her composure and hurriedly said, "Don't worry! If you decide to buy this mansion, we'll take care of all of this!"

Her tone was very earnest—clearly eager to sell the house.

After all, their agency hadn't successfully sold a property in quite a while, so they placed great importance on every potential buyer.

In the Holy Country of Millis, agencies like this were not limited to just one.

To promote a prosperous housing market, the country had deliberately established many such agencies and allowed them to compete with one another.

However, the reality was far from ideal.

Houses in the commercial and adventurer districts were always in high demand, while residential district houses went largely ignored, with sales performing abysmally.

This made people wonder: why would some prefer to live in inns every day instead of saving up to buy their own house?

Perhaps because they felt money should be spent on more important things—like enjoying life.

For these people, although an inn was only temporary lodging, it provided various conveniences and comforts without the hassle of house maintenance and management.

Most commoners rented instead, because their expenses didn't allow them to save for a house. Only relatively powerful adventurers had the means to buy their own property.

However, once outside Millishion—for example, in self-built houses—one only needed to rent the land. The price was two-thirds cheaper than in Millishion.
