Chapter 94 - Chapter 94: Muramasa

"Is it raining?"

Soon enough, Furina understood where the wet sensation was coming from. The dark clouds that had lingered in the sky for so long finally began to pour down rain, and the previous oppressive feeling dissipated along with it.

As the rain gradually grew heavier, the blade was washed clean of the bloodstains under the flow of rainwater, returning to its original appearance without leaving the slightest trace of blood.

Seeing this scene, Furina—who had often surfed the internet in her previous life—had a name pop into her mind. It seemed quite fitting to use as the name for this weapon.

"The name of this sword will be Muramasa. How about it?"

"Muramasa, huh? That's really nice. I believe that with Muramasa in your hands, it will surely become renowned throughout the ninja world. For a swordsmith like me, that would be a great honor."

Fujita Kazu did not ask about the origin of the name Furina chose. After sighing with emotion for a moment, he closed his eyes forever.

Or rather, the fact that he had held on until now was already a miracle. He had been clinging to life with just one breath solely to learn the name of the final sword he had forged. Now that his wish was fulfilled, there was no reason left to keep holding on.

"Alright, I've avenged you. Now it's time for me to settle our grudges as well. After all, I'm not willing to just kill the hired hands while the mastermind behind it all is still out there living comfortably and enjoying life. You agree, right?"

Facing Furina's gaze, Uchiha Hikari did not respond verbally, only nodding. She personally did not feel much about it either, but since Furina was so displeased with that so-called daimyo, then they might as well take him out.

After moving Fujita Kazu's body and the still-unconscious Chiyo into the house, the two set off toward the daimyo's residence. When Furina sought revenge, she never let it wait overnight.

...

Not long after the two left, several figures dressed as samurai arrived at the scene. Upon seeing the situation in the courtyard, they could not help but frown.

"Mifune-sama, it appears that Fujita Kazu has already been killed, but we could not find his body. What do you think..."

After one of the samurai inspected the area and confirmed that no one in the courtyard was still alive, he immediately turned to ask the man whose head was wrapped in bandages. Clearly, the other was in charge.

"!"

Just as Mifune was pondering the report, he suddenly detected a faint sound coming from inside the house. Mifune was certain it was not an illusion. He immediately rushed in.

Whether it was enemies or survivors did not matter—anyone still there would surely have information, and right now, that was exactly what they lacked.

"So you were here after all. My hopes were in vain. You really are gone, Fujita Kazu."

After bursting through the door, the first thing Mifune saw was Fujita Kazu's corpse. He could not help but feel a wave of emotion, followed by sorrow.

Although there was some age difference between them, the two had been true friends who could speak openly with each other. They also shared similar views on the future development of the Land of Iron. Now that the other was dead, it dealt a heavy blow to his heart.

"I'm glad you're still alive, Chiyo. Can you tell me what happened here just now?"

After paying his respects to his friend for a moment, Mifune finally turned to look at Chiyo, who was slowly waking up nearby. Clearly, the sound just now had come from her.

Although Mifune knew that losing her parents would be a tremendous shock to her, the situation was urgent now. He could not afford to be too considerate. Every second wasted could lead to even greater problems.

Unfortunately, when faced with Mifune's questions, Chiyo was basically in a state of knowing nothing. Aside from knowing that the attackers were Reichi and his group, she had no other information.

After all, she had been knocked unconscious right at the beginning of the attack. It would be strange if she knew anything that happened afterward.

"Is that so? Then rest well for now. I'll handle the rest."

After confirming that nothing useful could be gotten from Chiyo, Mifune comforted her for a bit before stepping out of the room again. Seeing him emerge, his subordinates who had been squatting on the ground examining the bodies immediately approached once more.

"Sir, we've checked everything. Nothing noteworthy about the others—only him."

Following the direction of his subordinate's finger, Mifune saw a corpse that had been nearly bisected at the waist. However, he paid that no mind until he saw the face. Only then did his eyes narrow slightly.

"This is... Reichi?"

As the leader of the samurai and the general of the Land of Iron, Mifune might not recognize every single samurai in the country, but he certainly had impressions of those with exceptional strength.

And Reichi was one of them. Although not on Mifune's level, he was still among the top samurai in the Land of Iron—also the strongest among the daimyo's personal bodyguards.

Looking at Reichi's wounds, aside from the massive one at the waist, there were basically no other injuries. This proved that Reichi had been killed in a single move within an extremely short time.

The one who struck must have been at least a full major tier above Reichi in strength. Even Mifune himself could not guarantee he could achieve that, let alone anyone else in the Land of Iron.

"Yes, Mifune-sama. Judging from Reichi's condition, it seems extremely powerful outsiders have come to the Land of Iron. What should we do next..."

Hearing this, Mifune fell into deep thought. Although his subordinate had not said it outright, he naturally understood. Though phrased as a question, there were really only two options.

One was to search for the unknown powerful outsiders to prevent them from causing further chaos in the Land of Iron. The other was to go directly to the daimyo of the Land of Iron.

Compared to the first option, which was full of uncertainties, the second was much clearer. As the daimyo's personal bodyguard, Reichi naturally had a closer relationship with the daimyo.

In other words, Reichi coming here to kill Fujita Kazu absolutely involved the daimyo's intent. The daimyo was most likely the mastermind behind Fujita Kazu's death.

But... that was the daimyo. Aside from transmigrators like Furina, most people in the ninja world harbored an innate awe toward daimyo, regardless of their own strength.

The weak ones need not be mentioned. Even the strong ones might not care what the daimyo thought, but they would not proactively go looking for trouble with a daimyo. This was the ingrained mindset that had naturally formed in the ninja world over so many years.

This was also why his subordinate had difficulty saying it outright. Someone of Mifune's status might have the qualifications to make certain choices, but they did not. Trouble comes from the mouth—it was not just an empty saying.

"No matter what, Fujita Kazu was an important figure in our Land of Iron. Even if it is the daimyo, there must be an explanation for this matter."

"Understood, sir. Do I need to gather more people?"

Hearing this, the surrounding subordinates all understood Mifune's choice. Their tones became excited as well. This was also the option they inwardly favored; they simply had not dared to voice it.
