Chapter 16 - Sacrifice

He blocked

But the hydra slammed its head into him.

BOOM!!

Vorian was sent flying into the dungeon wall.

Blood burst from his mouth.

He gritted his teeth and raised both blades in an X-form again

As the hydra head came down to crush him.

Volric ran toward it, slamming his sword from the side with all his strength.

Even as they barely understood the full danger, everyone realized the sacrifice that had just happened. Lucivar had already risked everything to save them.

Volric slowly stood up, bloodied, wiping the blood from his face.

"You're right," he muttered.

"He already risked himself to save us. Alright. If he's put himself in danger, then that just means it's up to us now. We have to be the devils to finish this fight and survive."

He looked around at the team, determination burning in his eyes.

Merilda then stepped forward, brushing the tears from her face. Her staff glowed faintly as she prepared herself, knowing Jorah was still unconscious and relying on her for support.

Then Jorah was still on the ground, slowly opening his eyes.

"You're awake," Merilda said.

He didn't sit up.

"Damn it, that's a lot of injury. I'm sure your mana is low," Merilda said.

Jorah didn't try to force himself up. He only watched Volrian and Volric attacking the huge main hydra head, then he slowly fell back on the ground again.

"Please rest. You're still not strong enough," Merilda said.

"But still, I know everything that happened," Jorah said.

Merilda looked at him.

"While I was unconscious, I was hearing everyone's cries. Let's not retreat anymore, not like we can?" Jorah said.

Merilda didn't say a word. She only nodded.

Jorah then slammed his fist on the ground.

"Damn it, it's all my fault. If I didn't ask him to join our party for the meantime, just for a while, this wouldn't have happened to him."

Jorah slowly tried to get up from the ground.

As he looked around, he picked up his sword which was still by his side.

"But you're still not strong," Merilda said.

Jorah looked at her.

"You're right. But still, someone is already dead because of us. And not only that, we are also going to face the same fate if I don't join them."

He clenched his sword tightly.

"They are not enough. Both of them are not capable enough alone. We won't be able to defeat that thing without me joining, even if I'm weak at the moment."

He took a deep breath.

"It might still boost our chance of winning."

Jorah then started running forward.

Volric looked at him.

"Jorah! What are you doing?!" Volric shouted.

Jorah didn't answer. His eyes were wide open as he ran forward.

The hydra's massive head turned around, ready to slam again.

Jorah didn't hesitate.

He leaped forward, landed on the hydra's head, and tried to strike its scales.

But the hydra suddenly raised its head upward.

Its huge body rose toward the roof, about to slam everything.

Jorah was on its head near the roof.

Jorah immediately jumped downward.

Volrian, who was below, raised his blade and tried to strike its skin, strike its skin again.

But it still couldn't pierce.

"Damn it, still impossible," Volrian muttered.

Jorah's eyes narrowed.

"Lightning is speed," Jorah said.

His body suddenly sparked with lightning.

Lightning covered his entire body.

He coughed blood instantly.

"Damn it, I'm still not fully recovered."

He clenched his jaw.

"But still, I have to give it my best shot. Let me try to end this shit this time."

His breathing became heavy.

"I'm opening an entrance," he said.

Then he moved.

His speed exploded.

He dashed so fast with all the strength he had left.

He raised his blade and slammed it into one of the hydra's scales by the side of its head.

CRACK!

The scale shattered.

A single scale shattered, and blood dripped out of it.

The hydra roared.

It slammed its head and flung Jorah away.

BOOM!

Jorah crashed into the wall.

He landed hard, his back smashing against the dungeon crystal wall, and slowly fell to the ground.

His vision blurred.

"I still haven't fully recovered, but still, we gave it our best."

Jorah whispered.

Then his eyes shut.

He fell unconscious again.

Merilda screamed.

"JORAH!"

"Damn it, he's unconscious again," Merilda said, her voice shaking.

Volric's eyes darkened.

"But still, I'll give it everything I've got," Volric said as he ran toward the hydra.

The hydra tried to slam him.

But Volric slipped downward and passed it.

He raised his blade toward the opening in its scales, the one Jorah shattered.

He raised his sword and struck it.

The opening widened.

Before the hydra could slam him, Volric jumped away.
