Chapter 58 - "Thirty Seconds of Slaughter."

-----

-----

The moon hung full and bright, flooding the villa complex with silver light.

In the central courtyard, a crowd of women and children had gathered. Their faces were pale, their expressions panicked.

None of them had expected that in a world already overrun by zombies, there could still be people even more terrifying than the undead.

Breaking in. Killing without hesitation.

And the worst part—these monsters had been living right beside them all along.

"Vice Captain, just a few more guys and we'll have everyone back!"

One of the guards eagerly lit a cigarette for the vice captain.

"Mm, not bad."

"Starting today, this whole villa complex belongs to us!"

"When the last team gets back, we'll divide up the houses… and the women."

The vice captain could barely contain his excitement.

Around him, the other guards grew restless, their eyes already roaming over the female residents, picking out their targets.

The women huddled together, trembling.

Their husbands, fathers, and sons had just been slaughtered.

And now… they were about to be divided up like spoils of war.

What kind of future awaited them…

They didn't even dare imagine it.

At that moment, there was a disturbance at the entrance.

Before long, a truck rolled into the courtyard.

The vice captain froze for a second, recognizing it—it was the same truck that had delivered food before.

Showing up this late at night… what for?

A midnight snack delivery?

Perfect timing.

Now that he'd taken over this place, it was the perfect excuse to celebrate.

The truck came to a stop.

Julian stepped down, with Mafuyu following behind him.

"Hey, delivery guy, good timing!"

"From today on, this place is under my control!"

"Any future food deliveries, report directly to me."

The vice captain took a drag from his cigarette, acting like some backwater emperor.

"What the hell are you supposed to be?"

Julian spoke casually, his eyes sweeping across the scene.

Asuka wasn't among the women.

Looks like, with her strength, she managed to keep herself safe.

"How dare you talk to me like that?!"

The vice captain frowned.

He had just reached the peak of his life—taken over a luxurious villa complex and gained himself a whole "harem" to choose from.

His authority was absolute.

And now some delivery guy was looking down on him?

The killing intent in his chest surged.

"Get lost."

Julian shot him a cold glance, then pulled out his phone and dialed Asuka.

"Uncle! I've got news for you!"

"The security guards here have rebelled!"

"They even dirtied my floor!"

Asuka's voice burst through the phone the moment it connected.

Julian paused, slightly confused. Why did it sound like the floor was the main concern here…

"Come to the courtyard. I've got something to take care of."

He hung up.

Good. She was fine.

The vice captain, completely ignored, felt his anger boil over.

"Brothers, get him!"

"Kill this guy for me!"

He flicked away his cigarette and waved his hand.

More than a dozen guards rushed forward, eager to prove themselves.

"Mafuyu. Kill them all."

Julian's tone was calm.

Mafuyu nodded, her eyes lighting up.

She could kill again.

Her claws gleamed under the moonlight as she lunged forward.

Slash—slash—slash—

Her claws swept cleanly across their throats.

Fast. Precise. No hesitation.

In less than thirty seconds, every one of them was dead.

A few tried to run, but they were no match for her speed. Before they got far, their spines were ripped apart.

The remaining twenty guards—including the vice captain—froze in place.

What the hell… is that even human?!

That's terrifying!

The vice captain's legs started shaking.

"Go… go on! You guys go!"

"Kill them!"

He took a few steps back.

But not a single guard dared move.

Against the weak, they could act arrogant, killing without blinking.

But when they faced someone truly powerful…

They folded instantly.

"This has nothing to do with us!"

"We didn't mean to offend you!"

"Yeah, yeah! It was all the vice captain's idea!"

"He was the one who insulted you just now!"

"You just deal with him!"

Without hesitation, they sold out their leader.

The vice captain was stunned.

Are they even human?

Backstabbing him this fast?

What happened to all the "Captain," "Boss," "Dad" they were shouting earlier?

"Brother… sir…"

"I misspoke earlier."

"From now on, we can work together! You want gold, right? I'll gather it for you!"

"You just need to give us some food in return!"

His tone flipped instantly, groveling for his life.

"Did I say you could talk?"

"You're annoying."

Julian shot him a look.

The vice captain's heart skipped a beat. He shut his mouth immediately.

"You lot. Drop your weapons and step forward."

Julian addressed the guards.

They exchanged glances but didn't hesitate. They obeyed at once.

That woman was too terrifying. Disobeying wasn't an option.

Running wouldn't work either.

Soon, all of them—including the vice captain—stood clustered in front of Julian.

"And you, ladies back there… pick up your weapons and come surround them."

The women froze, unsure what he intended.

But they didn't dare disobey either.

One by one, they picked up weapons and closed in, forming a circle around the guards.

"These guards broke into your homes tonight."

"They killed your husbands, your sons, your fathers."

"They planned to treat you like animals. To divide you among themselves."

"Now, you're holding weapons."

"If there's something you want to do… go ahead."

Julian's voice was calm.

The guards shuddered.

He was… letting them take revenge?

That meant certain death.

But they didn't dare run.

They couldn't.

They were trapped either way.

The women stood there, stunned.

They looked at the weapons in their hands… then at the guards in front of them.

Hatred. Humiliation. Rage.

All of it surged up at once.

They raised their weapons and struck.

Flesh and blood flew everywhere.

A few guards tried to break through, but Mafuyu snapped their tendons and tossed them back into the circle.

Screams tore through the night.

The vice captain suffered the worst fate.

Even after he was long dead, the women didn't stop.

They kept beating him until he was nothing but a mangled heap.

Not a single guard survived.

The women wiped the blood and bits of flesh from their faces.

For the first time, they felt relief.

They had avenged their families.

Just then, a young guard named Shiro came running over.

"There's still one more here!"

One of the women stepped forward, gripping a cleaver.

She was the wife of the middle-aged man who had been killed by the fat guard.

Shiro had been there when her husband died.

The moment she saw him, her emotions flared up all over again.
