Chapter 37 – The Spell Weaver
The 20 guards had already realized that throwing any kind of magical attack was useless and seemed to only make Kai stronger.
Meanwhile, Kai was slowly regathering his thoughts as Supreme Regeneration was pushed to its limit. Though the regeneration was incredibly fast, and the War Cry made it faster and stronger, it struggled to keep Kai's mind space in one piece. Finally, because of his soul strength, the mind space only had a few cracks left after a few minutes.
Kai stood up in the cell.
He was slightly taller and seemed to exude an aura that felt oppressive and powerful.
Kai stared forward, his eyes split between colors, and spoke.
"I'm hungry."
Not even a second passed after he said it before twenty skills shot toward him instantly, all of them meant to capture Kai. Ice rings appeared around him, but all of it was useless.
The aura around him glowed slightly, almost becoming real, as it absorbed everything.
All of the attacks vanished into it.
His already massive mana pool increased even more, though the rapid increase made Kai's heart pump slightly faster.
Kai mentally spoke.
"What is going on?"
[It seems due to your original core awakening, its latent powers, your bloodline itself has changed, and many skills have appeared. One of them seems to be a passive skill.]
Even the system itself sounded confused, and Kai was completely lost.
Kai sighed as he took a step backward and said, "I mean no harm."
He smiled, though it only unnerved the twenty guards further.
Finally, after all of this time, an elder arrived.
Kai sensed something powerful. A familiar aura.
It was Elder Huan.
Like last time, there was no smile on his face.
Elder Huan wasted no time and spoke.
"What do you think you're doing, Kai?"
Kai answered, "I honestly don't know what is going on."
Elder Huan looked at him for a second before saying, "You need to explain. Either way, I will have to take you to the medical field to be examined again. Your threat level must be increased."
Kai watched as Elder Huan tossed a small cylinder into the cell.
It quickly exploded, releasing sleep gas.
Once Kai woke up, the first thing he did was keep his eyes closed and control his breathing.
Mentally, he spoke.
"Alright system, are you there?"
[Yes.]
Kai smiled mentally as he activated a few skills.
Though his eyes were closed, he could clearly see the room.
It was small, reminiscent of a hospital room. He was lying on a fluffy bed.
Despite how comfortable it felt, the restraints on his hands were much worse. They were covered in higher level runes meant to stop mana usage.
Though with Kai's current power, that was meaningless.
The more he looked at the runes, the more he understood how they worked.
Kai mentally spoke.
"Show me what my original bloodline turned into."
Just before the system could respond, Kai noticed one of the monitors spiking rapidly.
A ninety degree incline of something.
He looked into his body using sharp sight and noticed the original bloodline core.
The slightly golden core had begun to morph, turning bluish in color while the bloodline core contracted and expanded like a beating heart.
For some reason, it did not hurt.
It just felt hot.
Really hot.
But not painful.
Kai waited as the cycle of contraction and expansion became faster, matching his heartbeat.
Finally, the core began spinning faster and faster while a monitor background turned red.
Then alarms began blaring.
Another monitor spiked as well.
Kai's heart rate.
He was slightly worried the alarms would bring too much attention to him. He still had no idea where he was and was still trying to understand the runes so he could slip past their protection instead of destroying them.
Kai tried to calm himself, but it was useless.
He stared at his stats.

Kai spoke mentally.
"System, what is going on?"
[A genetic change is occurring within your bloodline core. It is changing, though it looks like it is taking a form reminiscent of my creator.]
Kai sighed in confusion, thinking to himself.
"What could even create the system? So it's not a natural relic?"
He continued staring at his core as it began glowing with a bluish light.
It was changing shape, no longer completely spherical but instead a sphere made of hexagons.
The glowing screen continued glitching heavily.
[Bloodline Legacy: The Spell Weaver]
The words Spell Weaver shone with a wondrous blue light.
The system glitched again as new information appeared.
[Skills]
[Aura of Sanctity: When activated, you lose 5 points in Intelligence for an aura that surrounds you. This aura absorbs anything magical thrown at it while physical attacks pass through. Anything absorbed enhances random aspects of you and refills your mana pool.](15,000 mana per minute)
Kai's eyes gleamed with power, even though they were closed.
He had no idea his eyelids were glowing slightly from the intensity of his excitement.
This skill excited him greatly.
The entire world relied on mana to fight. Some military and higher level forces used a mix of weapons and skills, but most depended on magic.
He would be able to fight mana beasts endlessly.
Limitless mana.
Another skill appeared.
[Rune Weaving : Allows you to create your own runes using skills or spells in exchange for a large amount of mana based on what the skill is.]( 10,000 mana)
[Runic Blessing: You can understand and learn runes much faster than the nromal joe](Passive Skill)
Suddenly, Kai felt a sharp throb in his head as he instantly understood how the runes worked, how to bypass them, and even how to recreate something better.
[Mana Degradation - Level 0: As long as you understand the core concept of a spell, skill, or rune active around you, you can degrade its performance.](1,000 mana)
[Genetic Morpher - Level 1: While this skill is active, you can change everything about yourself, from your scent to your skin color.](2,000 mana per hour)
Kai stared, dumbfounded.
This bloodline was simply too overpowered.
And he could still improve it.
He had landed in a treasure chest.
Kai smiled as he pretended to wake up.
With a single tug, he broke out of the shackles.
His strength was monstrous now.
His punches could dent steel, and his hands could bend reinforced bars.
Kai stood up, ripping out all the medical connections as he healed himself in a split second using regeneration.
Then he froze.
Sitting calmly on a couch directly in front of him was Elder Huan.
Staring at Kai with cold eyes.
