[The Silent Threshold — Seventh Space — Day 67 — 1:45 PM]
The seventh space was circular.
Not approximately circular — exactly circular, with a radius that Maya measured at forty‑two meters from the center to the wall, with the precision of something built by someone who had access to tools the main continent hadn't yet developed when it built its first ruins.
The team crossed the internal threshold.
And the spiritual plane changed.
Not as it had changed in the previous six spaces — gradually, cumulatively, adding layers. Here the change was immediate and total, like entering a room where the temperature is completely different from the hallway. The seventh space's spiritual plane didn't have layers. It had a state. A single state. Uniform in all directions, at all heights, at all points of the circular space.
Emily stopped two steps inside the threshold.
"The spiritual plane here doesn't work like outside," said Emily.
"In what way?" said Seraph.
