**Sunshine's POV - Three Years Later**
"All rise for the Honorable Judge Kim."
I stood with the rest of the courtroom, clutching my briefcase, heart still racing from the closing arguments I'd just delivered.
My first case as a licensed attorney. A pro bono domestic violence case. The client was a young woman who'd finally found the courage to leave her abuser.
And I'd just won.
The judge delivered the verdict—restraining order granted, full custody to my client, the defendant ordered to stay away.
My client burst into tears beside me. "Thank you. Thank you so much."
I hugged her. "You did this. You were brave enough to ask for help."
After the paperwork was done, I rushed out of the courthouse and checked my phone.
23 PM.
Shit.
The Seoul Music Awards started at 7:00 PM.
I was supposed to meet Kael at 6:30.
I had just over an hour to get home, change, do my makeup, and get to the venue.
I called him as I speed-walked to my car.
"Hey, beautiful," he answered. "How'd the case go?"
"I won!"
"Of course you did. You're brilliant."
I smiled. Even after three years together—three years of him touring the world, me finishing law school, both of us building our careers—he still made my heart skip.
"I'm running late though," I said. "Court went longer than expected. I'll meet you at the venue."
"You sure? I can wait."
"No, go ahead. This is your night. I'll be there before they announce your category."
"Okay. Love you, Mrs. Devereaux."
I grinned. I'd never get tired of hearing that.
We'd gotten married four months ago. A beautiful ceremony on the same beach where he'd proposed three years earlier. Small and intimate, just family and close friends.
"Love you too, Mr. Devereaux."
**Kael's POV**
I stood at the entrance of the award show venue, adjusting my tie for the third time.
Three years.
Three years since everything had fallen apart and come back together.
Three years since I'd proposed to Sunshine
So much had changed.
I'd toured the world. Performed in sold-out arenas across Asia, Europe, North America. Released two more albums. Won awards in multiple countries.
But the best part? Coming home to her.
She'd finished law school. Graduated top of her class. Passed the bar exam on her first try. And now she was out there winning cases, helping people, changing lives.
I was so fucking proud of her.
A black car pulled up.
The door opened and Sunshine stepped out.
My breath caught.
She wore a stunning emerald green gown that hugged every curve. Her hair was swept up in an elegant style. She looked like she'd stepped out of a magazine.
But it was the way she carried herself—confident, powerful, radiant—that stopped my heart.
This was my wife.
She spotted me and smiled.
I walked toward her, unable to look away.
"You're late," I said when I reached her.
"I won my case. That's a valid excuse." She straightened my tie even though it was already perfect. "You look handsome."
"And you look absolutely stunning." I took her hand, brought it to my lips. "How did I get so lucky?"
"Persistence and really good sex."
I laughed. "Ready?"
"Ready."
**Sunshine's POV**
We walked the red carpet together, hand in hand.
Cameras flashed everywhere. Reporters shouted questions.
"Kael! Sunshine! Over here!"
"How does it feel to be nominated again?"
"Sunshine, congratulations on passing the bar!"
"Are you two happy?"
Kael pulled me close, arm around my waist, and we smiled for the cameras.
This was our life now. Public. Scrutinized. But together.
And after three years, I'd gotten used to it.
A reporter from a major entertainment network approached us.
"Kael, you're nominated for Artist of the Year again. How do you feel?"
"Grateful," he said simply. "And lucky to be here with my wife."
"Sunshine, you recently won your first case as a licensed attorney. How are you balancing your career with supporting your husband?"
I smiled. "I don't see it as balancing. We support each other. His wins are my wins. My wins are his wins. That's what marriage is."
The reporter beamed. "You two are relationship goals."
We moved down the red carpet, stopping for more photos, more questions.
Finally, we made it inside the venue.
**Kael's POV**
The show was incredible.
Performances that brought the crowd to their feet. Awards presented. Emotional speeches.
Through it all, Sunshine sat beside me, holding my hand.
Then the moment came.
"And now," the host announced, "the award for Artist of the Year."
My heart started pounding.
Sunshine squeezed my hand. "You've got this."
They showed clips of all the nominees. Highlights from the year. Achievements.
"And the Artist of the Year is..."
The envelope opened.
"KAEL DEVEREAUX!"
The arena erupted.
Sunshine threw her arms around me, tears already streaming down her face.
"I knew it!" she said. "I knew you'd win!"
I kissed her. Hard and fast. Then stood and made my way to the stage.
The trophy was placed in my hands. Heavier than I remembered.
I looked out at the sea of faces. The cameras. The lights.
And then I found Sunshine in the crowd.
My wife. My partner. My everything.
Thank you," I said into the microphone. "Four years ago, I stood on this stage and accepted this award while carrying a secret that was destroying me. Tonight, I stand here as myself. Fully. Honestly."
The crowd applauded.
"I wouldn't be here without the people who stood by me. My team. My father. My friends. And especially my wife."
I looked directly at Sunshine. She was crying again.
"Sunshine, you changed my life. You saw me at my worst and chose to love me anyway. You stood by me through the scandal. You supported me while I toured the world. And you built your own incredible career while doing it. This award isn't just mine. It's ours."
The crowd went wild.
"And I have to say—my wife is a badass lawyer who won her first case today, and I think that's even more impressive than this trophy."
Laughter and applause.
I bowed, held up the trophy, and walked offstage.
**Sunshine's POV **
We left the after-party around midnight.
Kael drove, one hand on the wheel, the other holding mine.
The Daesang trophy sat in the backseat.
"Congratulations," I said for the hundredth time. "Again."
"Right back at you. You won your case."
"We both won today."
He brought my hand to his lips and kissed it. "Best day ever."
We drove in comfortable silence for a few minutes.
My heart was pounding.
I'd been holding onto this secret for a week. Waiting for the right moment.
Tonight felt right.
"Kael?"
"Yeah?"
"I need to tell you something."
His grip on my hand tightened. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing's wrong. Actually, something's very right."
I took a deep breath.
"I'm pregnant."
The car swerved slightly.
He pulled over to the side of the road, put the car in park, and turned to stare at me.
"What?"
"I'm pregnant. About seven weeks. I found out a week ago but I wanted to wait until after the award show to tell you."
For a moment, he just stared at me.
Then his face broke into the biggest smile I'd ever seen.
"We're having a baby?"
"We're having a baby."
He unbuckled his seatbelt and pulled me into his arms as best he could in the car.
"Oh my God," he breathed against my hair. "Oh my God, Sunshine. We're having a baby."
I pulled back to look at him. "Are you happy?"
"Happy?" He cupped my face in his hands. "I'm—I'm everything. Terrified. Excited. Overwhelmed. You're going to be a mother. I'm going to be a father."
Tears spilled down my cheeks. "We're going to be parents."
He kissed me. Deep and passionate and full of every emotion he couldn't put into words.
When he pulled back, there were tears on his cheeks too.
"I love you," he said. "So much. You and this baby. You're my entire world."
"I love you too."
His hand moved to my stomach, resting there gently even though there was nothing to see yet.
"Hey, little one," he whispered. "I'm your dad. And your mom is the strongest, smartest, most incredible woman in the world. You're already so loved."
I started crying harder.
He pulled me close again, holding me like I was the most precious thing in existence.
We sat there on the side of the road, the city lights twinkling around us, the Daesang trophy in the backseat, our future growing inside me.
After everything we'd been through—the trauma, the scandal, the fear, the uncertainty—we'd made it.
We'd built this life together. This love. This family.
"Thank you," Kael whispered.
"For what?"
"For choosing me. For staying. For building this life with me. For giving me everything I never thought I deserved."
I kissed him. Long and slow and full of promise.
"You deserve all of it," I said. "And more."
He smiled through his tears. Kissed me again.
And when we finally pulled apart, we were both smiling.
"Let's go home," I said.
"Yeah." He kissed my forehead. Started the car. "Let's go home."
He pulled back onto the road, hand finding mine again.
I rested my other hand on my stomach.
And as we drove through the streets of Seoul, headed toward our apartment and our future and our growing family—
I'd never been happier.
**THE END**
