They faced me, my skin prickling with something far beyond the baseline horror that gnawed at my stomach. Something else tugged violently at my chest—a sudden, terrifying familiarity blossoming like a dark flower in the center of my mind.

​Their words left me completely perplexed, my thoughts spinning into a chaotic vortex. Children? Disciples? A fragment of a goddess inside me? It felt like they were speaking a language I was supposed to know, pointing toward a past I had no record of.

​I could feel my strength actively waning, the immense power required to hold the entire meadow in stasis bleeding out of me with every second that passed. A heavy, numbing ache began to creep into my thighs, and my lungs burned as if the air itself had turned to glass. The center core in my chest pulsed unevenly, a warning strike telling me the clock was ticking.

​But I refused to break.
