"He told you? I can't believe it." He started checking my hair; since I hadn't washed it in two days, it was a bit stiff.
"Close friends all know. He doesn't hide it. In fact, he brags about you constantly. Let's go with this style—like a princess. With your face shape, you'll have a real aura once we're done."
"Whatever the professional suggests!" I smiled. After just a few sentences, I already liked P'Ray. He was a gay man who looked handsome, expensive, and very polite. What a loss for women, truly. "Does he really brag about me to his friends? I don't have anything worth bragging about. I'm quite plain. I'm afraid he'll be embarrassed."
"Hardly! He brags that he got a younger wife who can cook, iron, and keep a house. My friend likes a woman who's good at domestic work." Why did my face feel so flushed? He might just be saying that. When he orders me to do chores, he looks so stern I want to throw the iron at his face.
"You're definitely teasing me. When I'm with him, he never says a single word of praise."
"Do I look like the type of person who lies? Not at all. It's the pure truth." And so, we entered gossip mode, digging up my husband's secrets with his best friend. It's strange; a man like him has a friend like this. I liked it, though. I wish he'd speak nicely and sweetly to me like this, instead of making a demon face at me all day.
Nearly an hour passed. My hair and makeup were flawless. I looked in the mirror and could hardly believe my eyes. Not a single blemish was visible; it was full coverage but didn't look cakey—a clean, princess look just as P'Ray said.
"See? This is why Nin brags about his wife. You're beautiful." I beamed with pride and turned toward the person next to me, hoping to show off to my husband. But the moment I saw his head, I remembered something.
I'm in deep trouble!
"P'Ray! I forgot to wash the dye out of Khun Nin's hair! Wait just a second, I have to go wake him up to wash it out!"
He was groggy after I nudged him twice. He raised a hand to greet P'Ray before heading into the bathroom. As I slowly rinsed his hair, I noticed something was off, but I wasn't sure. Once I applied the conditioner and rinsed it again... Oh, crap! Total disaster! I suspect that when I bumped into that blonde guy at the store, I grabbed the wrong box.
Reddish-Purple!
Luckily, it was high-quality dye that didn't damage his hair even after being left on so long. Otherwise, I might be looking at a bald Minister right now.
"Um... Khun Nin..." I stammered. I didn't dare tell him straight out. "Khun Nin... wait, don't! Don't look in the mirror yet!" I pressed the towel firmly against his head. I couldn't let go. Absolutely not.
"What is it? Hurry up, don't play around. The event is starting soon. You said you'd wake me up, but you didn't."
"Well... if I made a mistake, would you forgive me?" If it were me, I'd blow a fuse! It's Reddish-Purple! Since he has quite a lot of gray hair and his original color wasn't that dark, the new dye took hold much easier than expected. It's even more vibrant than I feared.
"What's wrong with you, Little Tim?" He yanked the towel away and looked up at the mirror. I quickly covered my face and mouth, terrified of how he'd react. "I-TIM!!!"
"Eeeek!" I immediately raised my hands in a wai. "I'm sorry! I bumped into someone else while buying it. I must have grabbed the wrong box. I didn't mean to, really! I'm so sorry! I'm sooooo sorry!" I felt genuinely terrible. Time was running out, and even if we tried to re-dye it, the color wouldn't take. It had been on for an hour and a half.
"Ugh!" He let out a frustrated sigh and stormed out of the bathroom.
"I'm sorry. I'll go buy a new one and fix it for you right now," I said, grabbing his arm and using my sweetest, most pleading voice. The tall man wouldn't even look at me; he just huffed and puffed in annoyance.
"It doesn't look that bad, Nin," P'Ray chimed in.
"You're not the one attending a gala as a Minister, so you would say that! How can I go anywhere with purple hair?!"
"I really didn't mean it, I swear." Tears started to well up. This was a major national event, and here he was, about to be embarrassed because of his secret wife.
"Don't cry, sweetie. It'll ruin your makeup," P'Ray said, dabbing my tears before turning to examine my husband's hair. "Isn't it a costume theme? Just wear a cloak and go as a wizard. Problem solved. You can fix the color after the party. A wizard and a princess—it's not a bad look. I even brought some extra outfits."
I waited breathlessly to see if he'd accept the offer. After a full minute, he finally nodded. Took you long enough, Sir.
"Go change. And you, blow-dry my hair."
He sat there grumpily, breathing heavily while his friend dried his hair. I watched for a moment before rushing into the bathroom to change.
The dress P'Ray gave me was a long white gown reaching my ankles. It was sleeveless, showing off my fair shoulders, with a beautiful ruffle on the left side. The craftsmanship was exquisite, and the fit was perfect for my figure. The only catch? The back was so low-cut I didn't dare walk out. Even though my skin is clear and blemish-free, I lacked the confidence.
I looked left and right, feeling incredibly self-conscious. After staring at myself for a long time, I finally decided to step out. By now, the Minister was fully dressed in a sharp, dapper tuxedo. It wasn't like in the dramas where the hero is stunned by the heroine's beauty; it was me who was stunned by this Oppa-level look! I thanked my own 'stupidity' for the mistake—if I hadn't messed up, I'd never have seen him looking this 'hot.' He was handsome from head to toe. I was starting to feel quite proud to be married to him. My husband is so handsome, I almost want to show him off to the world!
