Chapter 63 - Chapter 60 : The Architects of the Void

The Fourth Year of Primary Academy didn't begin with a trip or a ceremony; it began with a paradigm shift.

The tragedy on Mars had aged the class of 400 prematurely. They were no longer children playing at being warriors; they were survivors entering the most intellectual and high-stakes year of their initial education.

This year was less about the grind of physical labor and more about the Architecture of the Mind.

The Mother's Vigil

Because of the "Mars Incident," the Union Citizen Council (UCC) had mandated a complete medical overhaul.

The administration of the Type-4 Evolutionary Serum—the most dangerous to date—was moved to the Academy's central hospital under maximum security.

To the surprise of the faculty, Lyra Veyron arrived in person. As a master of energy weaving, she wasn't there as a parent, but as a consultant.

"The Type-4 serum restructures the marrow to prepare for armor-density," Lyra explained to the nervous medical staff. "If a student has lingering trauma from Mars, their energy will 'knot' during the injection. That knot becomes a permanent weakness."

She moved from bed to bed, her silver energy threads sensing the internal flow of the students. When she reached Kaelen, she watched the Type-4 serum enter his veins.

Because of his Star-Silver core and his father's "Compactness" training, Kaelen's body didn't just accept the serum—it hungrily absorbed it.

"Flawless," Lyra whispered, squeezing his hand. "Your foundation is ready for the weight of the higher sciences."

The Masters of the Fourth Year

Two new faces took over the primary instruction for the Fourth Year class, bridging the gap between physical "Man" power and the "Magic" of the higher academies:

Professor Vane (Weave Phase): A veteran of the Great Pirate Purges. He was thin, sharp-eyed, and moved with a grace that suggested he could vanish into the air at any moment. He would teach History and Strategy.

Professor Marcus (Loom Phase): A mountain of a man who looked like he was carved from granite. He was a master of Computational Combat and would teach the students how to use their Ribbons for high-level decision-making.

"In the first three years, you learned to move," Professor Marcus boomed during the first lecture. "In the fourth year, you learn to think."

Higher Mathematics and Game Theory

The training shifted into the digital and the abstract. Using their neurons and their Ribbons, the students were taught to perform Higher-Dimensional Mathematics.

"You aren't just fighters; you are living computers," Marcus stated. "If you are in a space battle, you must use Game Theory to predict an enemy's move ten seconds before they make it."

"You will use your Ribbons to simulate economic collapses, trade wars, and fleet maneuvers. A Guardian who cannot calculate the cost of a war is just a liability."

The Lessons of the Void

While Marcus pushed their brains, Professor Vane pulled at their souls. He taught them the history of the Federation and the reality of the threats waiting in the dark.

"I have spent twenty years hunting Space Pirates," Vane said, his voice dropping to a cold whisper. "The Iron Wraiths, the Red Nebula... they don't fight with honor. They fight with math and cruelty."

"I will teach you their patterns, their hideouts, and why if you reach the Higher Academy you have a responsibility to be the shield that stops them."

The Burden of Knowledge

Kaelen thrived in this environment. His Secondary Computing handled the multi-variable calculus with ease, but it was the Game Theory that fascinated him.

He began to see the world not as a series of punches, but as a series of probabilities.

Mina, sitting nearby, worked twice as hard. She was determined to never be "numb" or "ineffective" again.

Under Professor Vane's guidance, she began to realize that her wind threads weren't just for speed—they were the perfect sensors for gathering the data needed for Marcus's math.

As the Fourth Year began in earnest, the class of 400 realized that the "Magic" they had heard about wasn't just spells—it was the ability to bend the logic of the universe to their will.
