Under Ning Fengzhi's preparation, Gu Xuan's continental tour and preaching had already begun to be publicized, with the goal of letting everyone on the continent sing Gu Xuan's praises once more.
As the protagonist, Gu Xuan was no longer in Mingdu; he had traveled alone to the Far North. As a bitter and cold land to the north of the continent, few people could survive there, making the Far North the only other paradise for soul beasts besides the Great Star Dou Forest. Currently, the Far North was the only place on the continent not fully unified by the Sun Moon Empire, as powerful Great Beasts resided there, deterring Soul Masters.
Gu Xuan's purpose for coming here was simple: to reclaim the North and complete the unification of the continent. He traveled alone because his strength was sufficient to sweep through the Great Beasts of the Far North; as long as he subdued the rulers, the rest would be simple.
Now at Rank 98, with physical and mental strength at the demigod level, Gu Xuan simply manipulated spatial force to vanish from Mingdu and arrive in the Far North.
The cold wind cut like a knife, using the earth as a chopping block and treating all living beings as meat. Thousands of miles of flying snow turned the sky into a furnace, melting all things into silver. Here, almost everything in sight was silver-white. The average temperature was zero degrees, with many places reaching dozens of degrees below zero; ordinary people could hardly survive here. Only soul beasts, those unique beings, could take root and endure.
Arriving in the Far North, Gu Xuan did not feel the so-called endless cold. With his current strength, such physical changes could be ignored. Releasing his mental power to lock onto a general range, Gu Xuan's figure vanished and reappeared at the core of the Far North.
Gu Xuan's appearance immediately caused a group of Ice Devil Titans to roar. Gu Xuan did not understand the language of soul beasts, but he could hear the undertone of fear in their cries. His aura was too terrifying; even a Titled Douluo would feel immense pressure here. This group of Ice Devil Titans, with cultivations between fifty and eighty thousand years, found their ten-meter-tall bodies pressed down, unable to stand straight before Gu Xuan.
Gu Xuan had no intention of harming these little ones; they would eventually be partners for Soul Masters. He spoke calmly, but his voice struck directly at the soul. "The Sun Moon Empire, Gu Xuan, has arrived."
With just those eight words, the Ice Devil Titans, who were already struggling to stand, collapsed and fainted.
"Roar!"
The next moment, a massive figure over thirty meters tall descended from the sky, landing directly in front of Gu Xuan with an angry roar. On the shoulders of this behemoth stood two stunningly beautiful figures.
These two were Snow White of the Far North, Snow Empress, and Emerald of the Far North, Ice Empress.
"Greetings to the Sun Moon Emperor."
The two beautiful figures stared intently at Gu Xuan and bowed slightly in greeting. Gu Xuan stood calmly atop a snow mound, looking at the Three Heavenly Kings of the Far North.
The Snow Empress's true form was a Heavenly Snow Woman, a being born of the Far North's heavens and earth. She was the most gifted entity with a cultivation of seven hundred thousand years, possessing strength rivaling a Peerless Douluo.
The Ice Empress's true form was an Ice Jade Emperor Scorpion, one of the few super soul beasts in the Far North with the Ultimate Ice attribute. Her cultivation was nearly four hundred thousand years, and her strength was comparable to a Rank 97 Super Douluo.
The Titan Snow Demon King's true form was an Ice Devil Titan, rumored to be a descendant of the Ice God and Titan Giants. As a super soul beast with divine blood and a cultivation of nearly three hundred thousand years, he also possessed Super Douluo-level strength.
The existence of these three made the Far North a terrifying place, capable of rivaling the Great Beasts of the Great Star Dou Forest. Although they had not left the Far North, they had heard of continental affairs—including how the war-torn Douluo Continent had been unified by the Emperor before them. They wondered why Gu Xuan had come. In this desolate place, one rarely saw a human unless they were ice or water-attribute Soul Masters seeking rings.
The arrival of the Human Emperor likely didn't signal anything good. However, they could not see through Gu Xuan's strength and felt a terrifying pressure, proving he was stronger than them. Thus, they did not act rashly.
"I wonder why the Emperor has come. If there is anywhere we can cooperate, the Far North can serve Your Majesty." The ethereal Snow Empress asked softly.
Gu Xuan looked at the two women on the Ice Devil Titan King's shoulders and said calmly. "I have come to grant the three of you a great opportunity."
Hearing this, the Snow and Ice Empresses exchanged looks. He wasn't here to pick a fight? The Snow Empress replied. "The Emperor jokes. Our soul beast race and your human race have always been in conflict. For the Emperor to speak of a 'great opportunity' now, isn't that a jest?"
Gu Xuan replied. "It was so in the past, but it will not be in the future. Because of your remote location, you do not know the current state of the continent. I have come personally to speak with you. If you still feel the same after I have finished, I shall leave."
The Three Heavenly Kings grew thoughtful. The Snow and Ice Empresses descended to stand before Gu Xuan. "Please, Emperor, let us talk." They invited him to the Snow Empress's palace; as the rulers here, they maintained proper etiquette.
...
Slaughter City.
Dugu Yan's speed was high, closing in on Tang San, but she noticed something was off. They were moving at high speeds, yet there were no signs of the strange beasts anywhere. But she was not afraid; with her strength, even a twin martial soul user couldn't stop her.
Tang San, though fleeing, grew calm. In his eyes, the scales of victory were tipping in his favor. Finally, he stopped beneath a ruined city wall and stared confidently at Dugu Yan. As Dugu Yan's poison mist approached, a change occurred. Countless strange beasts, nearly a hundred of them, lunged out from behind the wall. They formed a defensive wall in front of Tang San, staring at Dugu Yan with bloodthirsty eyes.
Dugu Yan stopped fifty meters away, her hundred-meter-diameter mist just shy of reaching him. "Is this your trump card?" she chuckled.
Tang San replied calmly. "You are alone, and I have these beasts. The advantage is mine."
"With just these?" Dugu Yan laughed.
A charming voice answered her. "And me." Hu Liena stepped out from behind the wall.
Dugu Yan recognized her. "Hu Liena? You teamed up with him?"
Hu Liena took Tang San's arm and smiled. "What if I did?"
Seeing their intimacy, Dugu Yan understood their relationship. Still, she wasn't afraid. If there were three successors, the Rank 63 "weakling" was clearly Hu Liena.
Tang San pulled away. "Stop talking. Let's take her down together."
Hu Liena's six rings rose. Her black sixth ring flashed, and the beasts charged Dugu Yan. Dugu Yan met them head-on. Her black sixth ring lit up as endless poison formed countless snakes.
"Sixth Soul Skill: Myriad Serpent Dance!"
The snakes spread as her poison mist expanded. She wasn't going to waste time. To the duo's horror, the beasts didn't last a second against her toxins. Under Dugu Yan's first soul skill, they were converted into energy and absorbed, restoring her to her peak.
The two were incredulous. Their massive advantage had just become a battery for her! Dugu Yan's speed didn't slacken as the snakes swarmed them. Tang San swung his hammer, his sixth ring flashing.
"Sixth Soul Skill: Raging Sea Shocking Wave Hammer!"
The strike dispersed the snakes and momentarily checked the mist. Tang San said. "I want a fair fight. After this, the winner lives, and the loser dies." He hoped Dugu Yan's arrogance would give him a chance.
Dugu Yan sneered. "A fair fight? You didn't say that when you used the beasts."
Her poison mist expanded rapidly, enveloping them. Hu Liena collapsed instantly upon inhaling the mist. Tang San resisted by spinning his hammer to create a small vacuum, his momentum building. This was the Great Sumeru Hammer's foundation, the Disordered Splitting Wind Hammer. It was his last defense against the mist. He hoped that if Dugu Yan drew close, he could overpower her in melee.
But Dugu Yan knew better. Melee? Only a fool would do that. She watched him until his eighty-first strike, then used her fourth skill.
"Fourth Soul Skill: Medusa's Gaze!"
Tang San blocked it with his final hammer strike, a black dragon-shaped airflow shattering the petrifying beam. He lunged at her through the mist, holding his breath to buy a few seconds. He pulled out a cylindrical device and fired a pitch-black needle. This was his most lethal hidden weapon, the Yama's Invitation.
Without the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, it was weaker than in the original story, and more powerful weapons weren't finished yet. The needle was petrified by Dugu Yan's gaze. Tang San closed the distance and threw his hammer, transformed into an axe.
"Fifth Soul Skill: Killer Whale Demonic Axe!"
Dugu Yan flicked the Titan Heavy Hammer against it, deflecting the blow. Then her first soul skill flared. The toxins caused Tang San's skin to rot instantly. With a squeeze of her hand, she drained his life and soul power.
As Tang San fell, his body was corroded into nothingness, leaving behind three crystal-clear soul bones. Hu Liena had also perished, leaving behind one soul bone.
A cold voice rang in Dugu Yan's mind. "Dugu Yan, Asura God's sixth trial is complete. Reward: Soul power increased by one rank, all soul ring ages increased by three thousand years."
Dugu Yan collected the four soul bones and looked up at the purple moon. In the God Realm, the Asura God smiled with satisfaction.
