Chapter 224 - Chapter 224: Transformation and Evolution

After witnessing the massive boost in strength gained by Charizard and Dragonair, Thousand-Year Gengar, filled with envy, finally voiced his inner thoughts to Red.

"Boss, I want to go with Kadabra and absorb the power of laws from those two ancient Pokémon!"

Thousand-Year Gengar spoke anxiously, looking at Red pitifully, afraid that Red might refuse his decision.

In order to get Red's approval, Thousand-Year Gengar even pulled Kadabra into it, since Kadabra himself also longed for the power of the ancient Alakazam.

"It's not that I disagree, but are you absolutely sure you can control that kind of power? What if you fail to master it and get devoured by it instead?"

This was what concerned Red the most. After all, he wouldn't stop his companions from wanting to grow stronger.

But this kind of shortcut inevitably made him uneasy, worried that they might lose themselves under the sudden surge of power.

"Don't worry, Boss. I've lived for a thousand years—do you think I don't understand something this basic? Besides, I'm very familiar with these tricks. And we've got the help of that ancient Dragonite senior, don't we?"

After speaking, Thousand-Year Gengar glanced at the ancient Dragonite, silently asking for his assistance.

At first, lacking full confidence, Thousand-Year Gengar hadn't dared to tell Red about this idea. But the appearance of the ancient Dragonite gave him hope—given the latter's identity and strength, handling something like this would be effortless.

'I need that power!'

Kadabra stepped forward firmly, standing shoulder to shoulder with Thousand-Year Gengar in front of Red. The determination in his eyes made his resolve clear.

"Alright. Since you both insist, I won't stop you. I just hope you stay safe and don't act recklessly."

Red repeatedly reminded them to be cautious.

Seeing Red's concern only strengthened the resolve of Thousand-Year Gengar and Kadabra to grow stronger and master the power of laws.

Under the watchful and encouraging gazes of their companions, Thousand-Year Gengar and Kadabra approached the two unconscious ancient Pokémon.

Since they were of the same species, combined with Thousand-Year Gengar's thousand years of experience, the two quickly grasped the method.

With sufficient experiential guidance, Thousand-Year Gengar and Kadabra began absorbing the law power emitted from the two ancient Pokémon.

Though it was only a small amount of leaked law power, it was enough to satisfy their expectations.

"These two have an extremely strong determination to grow stronger. Otherwise, they wouldn't endure the pain and continue absorbing this power."

After saying that, the ancient Dragonite released his dragon aura to stabilize their minds, preventing backlash from the law power.

As Thousand-Year Gengar and Kadabra continued absorbing, the bodies of the ancient Gengar and ancient Alakazam gradually became blurry, turning transparent before everyone's eyes. Clearly, the power sustaining their physical forms was dissipating.

No one knew how much time had passed.

The ancient Gengar and ancient Alakazam eventually transformed into the relic items [Black Darkness] and [Golden Eye]. Only the devastating traces of battle around them remained, proving to any passerby that a fierce battle had once taken place here.

Finally, Thousand-Year Gengar and Kadabra opened their eyes simultaneously. Two surging auras of immense power erupted, shocking everyone present.

Strange patterns appeared on Thousand-Year Gengar's body, identical to those of the ancient Gengar, showing that he had inherited part of its power.

Everyone then turned their expectant gaze toward Kadabra, only to see a brilliant light of evolution erupt from his body. Wrapped in white light, Kadabra began to transform.

Moments later, as the light faded, the evolved Alakazam appeared before everyone.

After evolving, Alakazam's mustache grew longer, his ears sharper and longer, and the symbol on his head disappeared.

Due to the limitless growth of his brain cells, his forehead became broader and more radiant. His chest and shoulders still appeared as though clad in golden armor, and golden, bracer-like objects appeared on his wrists.

Alakazam had three fingers on each hand, each holding a spoon. His legs became sturdier, with knee areas resembling golden guards, making him more powerful.

It was worth noting that, due to evolution, Alakazam lost the tail he had as Kadabra and could no longer use Iron Tail.

Just as everyone wondered why Alakazam hadn't inherited the symbolic patterns, eerie markings suddenly appeared across his silver skin, giving off a strange yet powerful presence.

As if to prove his strength to Red, Alakazam waved his spoons and unleashed Psychic Shock at the surrounding rocks.

Two purple waves of psychic energy materialized and struck the rocks, forming coral-like encrustations in an instant—clearly inheriting the power of the ancient Alakazam.

"Don't look at me—I obviously inherited that old guy's power too. If you don't believe me, let Pikachu zap me and test it," Thousand-Year Gengar said casually.

Seeing this, Red's Pikachu excitedly rushed forward, preparing to release electricity, only to be immediately stopped by Thousand-Year Gengar.

"No, no, no—I meant Ash's Pikachu, not you. Your electricity might cause an accident."

Thousand-Year Gengar said nervously, afraid Red's Pikachu might ruin things.

"Pika…"

Red's Pikachu lowered his head in disappointment and reluctantly signaled his younger brother to attack.

"Pika…chu!"

After receiving permission from Ash and Red's Pikachu, Ash's Pikachu immediately released a high-voltage current, forming a lightning serpent that shot toward Thousand-Year Gengar.

"Not bad. The power of this current… but it's still within my tolerance."

As he spoke, Thousand-Year Gengar slowly raised his hands. His palms became like black holes, absorbing the incoming electricity into his body without any sign of injury. On the contrary, as time passed, his stamina was even replenished.

"The power of devouring…" Red murmured.

(This power, combined with Mega Evolution, might become even stronger.)

Red glanced at the rock covered with encrustations. Upon closer inspection, he found that its surface was gradually fading, as if some of its energy had been absorbed—though not as effectively as Thousand-Year Gengar.

However, this powerful ability had its drawbacks. The newly evolved Alakazam lacked sufficient stamina. After using Psychic Shock, the patterns on his body disappeared, returning him to his normal state. Exhausted, he collapsed onto the ground.

Thousand-Year Gengar fared better, but to avoid wasting stamina, he also dismissed the patterned form and returned to normal.

"I love you, Boss!"

With that, Thousand-Year Gengar pressed his face against Red's.

Red allowed it, as long as he didn't stick out his tongue. He tolerated this kind of affectionate behavior—after all, Thousand-Year Gengar was just an old rascal at heart.
