Just like that, Red and the others ignored Brutella's temptation and turned to leave, leaving only Brutella glaring at their departing backs, muttering,
"Where did such arrogant brats come from? They're not even tempted by such luxurious conditions!"
Naturally, Brutella didn't take Ash's words seriously. After all, they were only around ten years old—how could they possibly earn that much money?
"Wait up, Misty!"
"What exactly are you so mad about?!"
Ash and Brock hurried after the furious Misty.
"That Brutella is absolutely infuriating!" Misty snapped angrily. She actually wanted to use money to lure her into dealing with Tentacool. Luckily, Red and the other boys had resisted the temptation.
"I'm not good at dealing with people like that either…" Ash comforted her.
"She even badmouthed Tentacool!" Misty fumed, then her eyes filled with hearts. "They're just so cute~"
"Let me see…" A puzzled Ash pulled out his Pokédex and found the entry for Tentacool. "Tentacool, the Jellyfish Pokémon. Ninety-nine percent of its body is composed of water!"
"…" Ash stared speechlessly at the data. This was what she called cute?
"Seems everyone has different tastes…" Brock said leisurely.
"If those adorable Tentacool are attacking humans, then it must be just like Red said—they had their home, which they relied on to survive, stolen by people like Brutella!" Misty said indignantly, wishing she could seek justice for them.
"Could Horsea's ink drawing have been Tentacool?!" Ash suddenly realized, recalling the pattern Horsea had drawn not long ago.
Just as Ash and the others were about to find Horsea and ask for clarification, the city broadcast suddenly transmitted Brutella's voice: "Listen up, everyone! In order to drive away our enemy, the Tentacool of Hutber Port, we are now recruiting brave volunteers!"
"What did she just say?!" Misty cried out.
"To whoever drives away those jellyfish for me, I'll give one million! Brutella always keeps her word!"
"She's trying to buy people's loyalty with money?" Brock said speechlessly, finding the whole thing absurd.
"Anyone who wants money—no, anyone who wants local development—gather at the docks immediately!"
"Hmph! In this age of abundant resources, trying to buy hearts with money is just naïve!" Misty scoffed.
"That's not necessarily true," the usually quiet Red suddenly said. "The few of us don't come from ordinary families. We can't truly understand the hardships of poor households. If they're swayed by money, it's not entirely their fault."
As if to prove Red's point, a commotion suddenly broke out in the distance. A sea of Pokémon Trainers surged toward the harbor, so overwhelming that the Horsea in Misty's arms hurriedly fled in fright.
"She actually attracted this many people!" Ash exclaimed.
"Reality is always driven by profit—just like how that seaside hotel was allowed to be built," Red said meaningfully to Ash.
"You still have much to learn. These people are merely slaves to a tiny sum tossed out by capitalists. The real manipulators are the greedy capitalists behind the scenes. Even that Brutella is nothing more than a lackey."
"Hey there! Citizens! Brave warriors! Who will claim the one million?" Brutella shouted through a megaphone while riding in on a tank, using the prize money to stir up public excitement.
At that moment, a rose shot onto the tank. Seeing something was wrong, Brutella demanded, "Who goes there?"
"Since you have sincerely asked for our help!
We shall kindly grant your request!
To prevent the world from being destroyed!
To protect the peace of the world!
To unite all peoples within our nation!
To denounce the evils of truth and love!
The cute and charming villains!
Jessie!
James!
We are Team Rocket, blasting off at the speed of light!
A white future is waiting for us!
That's right! Meowth!"
Seeing the chance to snag a million, the long-absent Team Rocket trio appeared before the crowd. Brutella even praised them, "How reliable!"
"Who's going to drive them away…" Ash muttered speechlessly. How did he keep running into these guys everywhere?
Driving a speedboat and fully prepared, Team Rocket confidently pulled out a large barrel of "domestic triple vinegar," planning to scatter it to weaken Tentacool before casting nets to catch and sell them at the market. Their imagination was truly boundless.
Before they could snap out of their fantasy of becoming rich, they suddenly felt something seize the boat beneath their feet. Looking down, the trio trembled in fear. Unknowingly, they had entered Tentacool territory. Beneath the water, countless Tentacool had gathered for revenge.
"Is it starting?" Red said calmly, idly playing with five prepared Poké Balls in his hand.
A Tentacool that appeared to be the leader used Aurora Beam, firing a ray that destroyed Team Rocket's boat. The "domestic triple vinegar" accidentally spilled onto that Tentacool. Something astonishing happened—it suddenly erupted in evolutionary light and evolved into a gigantic monster larger than skyscrapers.
"What an exciting live target!" Red said excitedly, unlike the others who showed fear.
With a massive body capable of destroying everything, the giant Tentacruel led its kin in retaliatory destruction, launching a fierce assault on Hutber Port. It used Surf, instantly submerging more than half the area beneath the sea.
Ash and the others had already retreated with the crowd into a distant high-rise. But through the glass windows, seeing the giant Tentacruel demolishing the city, they fell into panic.
"Even from a human standpoint, your destruction has already served as a warning. My mission now is to stop you from causing further damage."
Red calmly gazed at the enormous Tentacruel, standing alone atop a high-rise half swallowed by seawater, expression indifferent as he met its stare.
(So this is what they call a strong one? Doesn't look like much!)
The giant Tentacruel ignored Red's words and prepared to use Aurora Beam to warn him not to meddle.
"Seems persuasion doesn't work. As expected, force is the only language that gets through!" Red adjusted his cap calmly and hurled all five Poké Balls.
"I'm counting on you, my partners!"
A dragon-scaled Charizard, a gigantic Onix, a golden Pidgeot, a blood-red Gyarados, and a teal-glowing Scyther appeared before the giant Tentacruel. Because of its fear of seawater, the gigantic Onix stayed by Red's side on the high-rise, preparing to use long-range attacks.
Red then released Feebas as well, gently stroking its cheek.
"Watch closely how your seniors fight."
The giant Tentacruel didn't attack immediately. Instead, it controlled Meowth to speak. "You are all powerful Pokémon. Why obey those foolish humans?"
"Hmph! Drop the act. We only listen to our master. As for those humans watching, we have zero interest in them!" Charizard scoffed, casually launching Flamethrower downward, scorching the Tentacool below. The sea surface itself began to evaporate from the intense heat, and some Tentacool collapsed from the flames.
"Nice targets—perfect for training!" Pidgeot exclaimed excitedly, flapping its wings to unleash Hurricane, blasting the remaining Tentacool away!
"Not bad. So many tools to boost my stats!"
Seeing this, the blood-red Gyarados gathered golden energy in its mouth and fired Hyper Beam, defeating several Tentacool. Its muscles swelled dramatically as its Moxie stacked to an excellent state, even making the giant Tentacruel, a fellow Water-type, feel inexplicable pressure.
"Defeating a behemoth like you will surely be a memory worth keeping!" Scyther said coolly. Unlike the others, it didn't attack the Tentacool below. Instead, it stepped across floating debris to approach the giant Tentacruel directly, delivering a dazzling X-Scissor that carved a wound into its body.
The gigantic Onix looked longingly at its freely moving companions. It could only remain at the rear, silently using Stone Edge to defeat the remaining Tentacool.
