"Tyson! Wait! I completely forgot that we already have a weapon saved just for you!"
Where Offshore had come from, he had no idea. Suddenly, the thought of the cards and the Ivory handled knives came to mind. Could the cards have been resources that he obtained? And if so, then what did the monsters mean?
"Come with me Tyson, I'll take you to your resources. I'm a very busy man, you see, so I hope you can excuse me not giving them to you earlier."
"Considering you never explained them, I don't really know what I was missing out on other than maybe some weapon training. Please, tell me about them."
"Did I really? I could have sworn I told you about them while we were on ride here."
"No, you didn't. I was thinking the whole way here so maybe you tried and I didn't hear you."
At this point, they had left the room and were walking down seemingly endless, identical hallways. As he walked, Ty wondered what he could be receiving. After all, it was a bit over two weeks ago, and the cards weren't his biggest focus at the time.
"Alright, well let me explain them to you. The first cards you got had monsters on them, right? Those were real Peasant Individual rank beasts that we killed, and you get to choose up to two items from each beast. By this, I mean you can take up to two kilograms either meat, skin, or bones, or you could also take a core. If you just want both cores from the beast then sure, you can have both, but that would take up both items you could obtain from the beast."
"Can I not get their relic?"
"No, but that's because you got the next cards, the item cards. Those had vague shadows of items, and for good reason. You will receive a full set of gear, including three pieces of jewelry and a mystery relic forged by our crafters. They are Serf Individual level items, so they will still last you a long time, even if they aren't exactly peasant level."
"Wow… you guys are really investing in me, huh? I didn't know I was this valuable."
"It will all be worth it if you receive a rogue-like profession. We will gain a powerful stealth-type with large growth potential for almost zero cost compared to hiring already established ones."
"Ah, so we're just… cheap labor?"
"You get it!"
"O-Ok. Anyway, what about the final card? The knives?"
"Those are Peasant Individual rank twin daggers, extremely sharp for their tier, making them perfect to carry even up to Apprentice rank, although they will start to lose effectiveness relatively quickly past that."
As Offshore spoke, they eventually reached a door larger than all the rest at the end of the hallway. He opened them, and a room even larger than the student's armory was revealed to him, making his face turn to one of shock and awe.
"Here's the room where we kept your things. We had to hunt the beasts freshly, since we forgot to preserve the previous ones. Go through these eight and pick what you like."
Looking at the eight beasts hanging on large hooks, Ty somehow managed to show an even more shocked face than before.
'Imaging how much I could take here… I would be rich if I got it all!'
Almost sensing his thoughts and the dollar signs in his eyes, Offshore told him about the cameras and his own magic sense, dashing any hopes Ty had of robbing the place blind.
Placing more focus on the beasts, he saw each one had a feature unique to them. The first was smaller but had a long horn, looking like a lizard of sorts. The second was a tortoise with a shiny, metal-like shell. The third was a hedgehog the size of a dog, with quills sticking out everywhere. The fourth was a horse with no head, but it was somehow still burning at this very second. The fifth was a gorilla with massive fists and arms. The sixth was an extremely long fish with… razor sharp teeth? The seventh almost looked like a human, save for the unnaturally red skin, the extremely large mouth, and the gems embedded in its forehead. Finally, there was a big cat of sorts, maybe a panther, covered in spikes.
It took Ty quite some time to decide what he wanted from each of the beasts, but he eventually decided. He wanted a single core from each beast, along with the horn from the lizard, some of the shell from the tortoise, some of the hedgehog's quills, some of the horse's bones, fur from the gorilla, teeth from the fish, gems from the… mouth creature, and fur from the panther. Sure, he may not be able to use these materials now, however he could preserve them and have a forger make something out of them later or even sell them. After all, he would need the points.
"Alright men, you heard the boy, chop chop! Get to it!"
Seeing Offshore grin like an idiot while ordering around soldiers made Ty feel odd. But soon enough he was led to another table in the large room, as the men in the room started to dress the bodies of the beasts. On this table was a full body set of leather armor, a bag, a necklace, two rings, and a box. Offshore put his hands on his hips and looked at Ty expectantly.
"Well, little dude, what do you think? This is some great gear, right?"
"It's… certainly nice looking, but I can't see what it does, since I don't have access to the Decree yet."
"Oh, yeah. Alrighty, well let's go through it. The armor makes you stealthier, the necklace enhances your will to make you react faster, one ring makes you faster and the other makes you more durable, and the bag can hold a lot. The box… that has your knives. I know you want to put them on, go ahead!"
Ty didn't stand on ceremony and quickly equipped all of the gear. The armor made him feel… lighter? Maybe that wasn't the best word to describe it, since he didn't feel any faster with it on, just lighter in the sense that he would be less noticeable and have quieter steps. The necklace, when he put it on, made the world feel like it slowed, while also making his mind quite a bit clearer. He was more certain of his steps. The first ring, the blue one, made him feel lighter in the true sense now, causing a feeling of euphoria and excitement to rush through his very cells. The brown ring made his skin feel tighter if that made sense, but not in an uncomfortable way. Just like it always been that way. Finaly, he grabbed the bag, and opened it and looked inside, seeing nothing but empty space inside. It truly could hold a lot.
"Oh, and by the way, don't get that bag wet. It doesn't handle water well, at least on the outside. Especially hot water. Shrinkage and all."
Ignoring Offshore's remark, Ty god to the part he was most excited for, the box. After all, today was supposed to be about getting a weapon, right? He slowly lifted the box's top, noting the smoke roll out of it. Offshore gave him a smug look, seemingly proud of the presentation. Ty tossed aside the top, seeing the knives lie in the box in a cross, accentuating that they are in fact, twin knives. Knowing how much the armor and jewelry did to make him feel the change, one could only imagine what would happen when he picked up the knives. So, he slowly reached his hands into the box, mentally preparing himself for the changes that could in fact happen. Would they make him stealthier again? Make his intuition sharper? Improve his judgement? Hell, they could even give him a higher jump. He tensed as he slowly brought his hands to the handles, until finally, he grasped them, and held them out, feeling…
Nothing.
Nothing. Happened.
Offshore laughed out loud, slapping his knee while crying at Ty's confusion.
