Chapter 25 - Chapter 25 – When It Breaks

The night didn't settle.

It stretched.

Heavy.

Unfinished.

Something Isn't Right

Chen Hao locked the front door twice.

Then checked it again.

"…Okay, I officially don't like this," he muttered.

Yulan stood by the counter, arms folded.

"You've checked it three times."

"Four," Chen Hao corrected. "And I'm about to make it five."

Li Wei stood near the window, watching the street.

Still.

Too still.

"…They're waiting," he said quietly.

Yulan's chest tightened.

"…For what?"

Li Wei didn't answer.

That was worse.

The Trap Closes

The lights flickered.

Once.

Twice.

Then—

Darkness.

"Hey—" Chen Hao started.

A loud crash came from the back door.

Wood splintering.

Forced open.

Yulan's heart jumped.

"They're inside," Li Wei said sharply.

Action Scene – Direct Attack

Two men rushed in from the back.

No hesitation this time.

No warning.

One grabbed the nearest object and threw it—

Glass shattered across the floor.

Li Wei moved instantly.

"Stay behind me," he ordered.

But this time—

They weren't aiming for him.

One of the men lunged past Li Wei—

Straight toward Yulan.

Yulan Targeted

Yulan barely had time to react before the man grabbed his arm hard, pulling him forward.

"Got you—"

"Let him go!"

Li Wei's voice cut through the room—

Sharp.

Dangerous.

He moved faster than before.

No hesitation.

No control.

Just instinct.

He slammed into the attacker, pulling Yulan free and shoving him back.

"Stay down!" Li Wei said.

Fight Escalates

The second man came at him from behind—

Li Wei twisted, blocking the hit, but this time—

He wasn't completely clean.

The impact forced him back a step.

Yulan's breath caught.

"…Li Wei!"

Chen Hao grabbed Yulan's shoulder.

"Don't move!"

"I can't just—"

"You'll make it worse!"

Li Wei recovered quickly.

His movements sharper now.

More aggressive.

He grabbed one attacker, drove him into the wall—

Hard.

The other swung again—

Li Wei ducked and struck back—

Fast.

Precise.

But this wasn't like before.

They weren't testing him.

They were trying to take something.

The Message

"Boss said—" one of the men spat, struggling, "—you don't get to choose!"

Li Wei froze for half a second.

That was enough.

The second attacker grabbed a metal rod—

And swung.

Impact

The sound echoed.

Dull.

Heavy.

Yulan's world stopped.

"…Li Wei!"

Li Wei staggered back slightly—

But didn't fall.

Instead—

He grabbed the rod mid-swing.

Eyes cold.

Completely changed.

"…Leave."

Not loud.

Not shouted.

But something in his voice—

Made them hesitate.

End of Fight

The men backed off.

Not defeated.

But warned.

"This isn't over," one of them said again.

Then they ran.

Aftermath – Silence

The shop was a mess.

Broken glass.

Overturned chairs.

Heavy breathing.

Yulan rushed forward immediately.

"Li Wei—!"

"I'm fine," Li Wei said.

But he wasn't.

There was a faint line of blood near his temple.

Yulan's hands shook slightly as he reached out.

"You're not fine."

Li Wei didn't stop him this time.

The Breaking Point (Emotional + Intimate)

"…They came for you," Li Wei said quietly.

Yulan looked up.

"…What?"

"They didn't come to warn me," Li Wei continued. "They came to use you."

The words hit harder than the fight.

Yulan's chest tightened.

"…Then let them try."

Li Wei's expression shifted—

Something between frustration and something deeper.

"You don't understand—"

"Then stop shutting me out!"

Silence.

Heavy.

Sharp.

Then—

Yulan stepped forward—

And grabbed Li Wei's shirt.

Pulling him closer.

"You don't get to decide this alone," he said, voice low but steady.

Deep Kiss (Dark, Emotional)

Li Wei didn't argue.

Didn't speak.

Instead—

He pulled Yulan in—

And kissed him.

Harder than before.

Not just emotion—

Something darker now.

Fear.

Anger.

Possession.

Yulan held onto him just as tightly.

Like letting go would mean losing him completely.

When they broke apart—

Their foreheads stayed pressed together.

Breathing uneven.

The Decision

"…This changes things," Li Wei said quietly.

Yulan didn't step back.

"…Then we deal with it."

Li Wei closed his eyes for a second.

Then opened them again.

"…No."

Yulan frowned.

"What do you mean—"

"I'm not letting them use you against me."

The words were calm.

Final.

Yulan felt it immediately.

Something was about to shift.

Chen Hao (Understands First)

From the side, Chen Hao went still.

"…Don't," he said quietly.

Li Wei didn't look at him.

Dark Ending Shift

"I need to handle this my way," Li Wei said.

Yulan's chest tightened.

"…And where does that leave me?"

Li Wei didn't answer.

That was the answer.
