The first anniversary of the partnership between Vale Holdings and Ashford Holdings arrived without fanfare. Neither Lucien nor Seraphina wanted a gala. Neither wanted speeches celebrating profits or headlines praising their leadership. They had attended enough formal events to know that meaningful moments rarely happened beneath bright lights and television cameras. Instead, they chose something simple.
After work, Lucien drove them away from the city to a quiet vineyard that overlooked rolling hills and a peaceful lake.
The owner greeted them personally. "It has been a long time since your last visit."
Lucien smiled. "It has."
"You chose the same table." He said.
"I was hoping it would still be available," Lucien said.
"It always will be." The owner replied.
The owner led them to a small terrace where soft lanterns had already been lit. The evening breeze carried the scent of fresh herbs and flowering vines.
Seraphina looked around with surprise. "I remember this place."
