Chapter 92 - Family Trust

The estate was quieter after the hospital discharge. The follow-up had gone better than anyone dared hope, and the relief that came with positive medical news softened the atmosphere of the Vale house in subtle ways. The staff no longer moved with the hush of people bracing for another emergency. The medical team reduced visits to evening monitoring only. Even the conservatory, which had become emotionally charged since the first warning signs, seemed to breathe easier under the warm afternoon light.

Her father rested in the west garden room that day. It was one of the few spaces in the estate untouched by business files, trust ledgers, or foundation correspondence. Glass walls opened toward a line of old camellia trees, and the quiet rhythm of water from the stone fountain outside gave the room a kind of grounded stillness.

Seraphina spent the morning finalising revised family schedules and confirming next week's medication timing.
