CHAPTER 32 — FALLING SKY / LAST RESCUE
The battlefield was no longer a battlefield.
It was a collapsing sky.
Screams echoed between broken buildings as civilians continued to fall through the air—thrown into chaos by the ongoing clash between Tokita and Ragnar.
But someone was moving through it.
Natsuki — Lightning at His Limit
Natsuki gritted his teeth.
His body screamed in protest.
The injuries Hoshina had left on his body had not healed properly—it dragged every movement down like chains of iron. Every step felt like his bones were grinding against each other.
But he still moved.
"…Damn it…"
Electricity flickered across his body.
Blue-white lightning cracked around his limbs.
And in an instant—
He vanished.
A woman dropped from the sky.
Natsuki appeared beneath her mid-air.
He caught her.
And immediately redirected her fall—sliding across rubble, cushioning the impact just enough so she survived.
Without stopping—
He vanished again.
Another civilian.
Another drop.
Another rescue.
Natsuki wasn't fighting anymore.
He was catching the sky itself.
Each burst of lightning tore through debris-filled air as he moved from falling body to falling body—grabbing, redirecting, slowing impacts just enough to keep them alive.
His breathing grew heavier.
His vision blurred.
But he didn't stop.
Aoi — Rewriting the Ground
Elsewhere in the chaos—
Aoi ran.
Her eyes sharpened.
Green energy pulsed faintly beneath her skin.
She slammed her hand onto the ground—
And the world responded.
The cracked earth beneath a group of falling civilians softened instantly.
Stone and rubble shifted.
Transformed.
Feathers.
Soft, dense, weightless feathers erupted where jagged ground had been.
The civilians landed—not with impact—
But like sinking into a giant invisible pillow.
Gasps followed.
Some just stared in shock.
"…What the hell…?"
Aoi didn't answer, she was a bit surprised,but...
She was already moving again.
KAITO — SLOWS MOTION
Near the collapsed riverside, kaito's leg was drenched in blood from the previous attack from Hoshina,as he stretched out his right hand slowing the momentum of the falling civilians, safely pulling the elderly from the water.
Old men.
Women.
Children.
One by one.
His arms shook with exhaustion, but he kept pulling them to safety.
Above him—
The battlefield roared.
The Breaking Point
Then—
Natsuki landed wrong.
His leg's gave out completely.
He hit the ground hard.
"—Tch!!"
Electricity flickered weakly across his body… then faded.
He tried to stand.
Failed.
His fist slammed into the ground.
"…Move… damn it… MOVE!!"
His body refused.
For the first time—
He couldn't go back.
Nezuko and Aoi rushed to him.
"Stop!" Nezuko grabbed him. "You're done!"
Natsuki shook his head violently.
"No— I can still— I have to— Tokita is—!"
Aoi's hand pressed gently on his shoulder.
Her voice was firm.
"Calm down."
Natsuki trembled.
"I have to help him… I have to finish Ragnar…"
Nezuko's expression hardened.
"And what will you do when you get there?"
Silence.
Only distant explosions answered.
Nezuko stepped closer.
"If you go like this… you're not helping Tokita."
Her voice lowered.
"You'll just become another burden he has to carry."
That hit harder than any wound, even Aoi was surprised at how Nezuko was acting towards with her younger brother.
Nezuko calmly wrapped her arms around Natsuki's head, then she asked Natsuki a question.
"Do you really think Tokita's going to lose,be honest."
Natsuki froze.
His teeth clenched.
"No...i might not like the guy,but even I've got to admit it...Tokita's one hell of a Monster, so no...Tokita's still going to win."
Because he knew—
It was true.
Aoi spoke softer this time.
"You're strong… but Tokita is on another level right now."
A pause.
"…That doesn't mean you're useless."
She looked toward the battlefield.
"…It means you trust him."
Natsuki's hands shook.
"…Damn it…"
Aoi crouched slightly, locking eyes with him.
"your the one who took down that b*stard Hoshina, and trust that says alot"
A pause.
"Thanks..." Natsuki said calmly
Aoi and Nezuko nodded simultaneously.
Natsuki exhaled slowly.
The tension in his body didn't vanish—
But it shifted.
From panic…
To frustration.
Controlled frustration.
"…Fine," he muttered.
"But if he comes back alive…"
A faint, bitter smile formed.
"I'm punching him for making me worry."
Aoi smirked slightly.
"Deal."
Elsewhere — The New Presence
In the distance—
A crowd had formed again.
But something was different.
A faint green aura shimmered through the air.
Aoi turned her head sharply.
"…Another ability user?"
Among the survivors—
A woman stood in a nurse's uniform.
Calm.
Focused.
Hands glowing faintly as she treated wounds.
Cuts closed.
Bruises faded.
Broken skin knitted together.
But only lightly.
Small injuries.
Nothing more.
Aoi narrowed her eyes.
"…A healer."
The woman paused.
Her gaze shifted toward the battlefield.
Toward Tokita.
Toward Ragnar.
Toward destruction.
Her expression darkened slightly.
"…I might be needed there too…"
Aoi's eyes sharpened.
"…If things get worse…"
Her thoughts cut off.
"…We may need her to save more than just civilians."
A pause.
Her gaze tightened.
Tokita.
Natsuki.
Kaito.
The injured fighters.
Even Hoshina.
Because if Ragnar wins—
There would be nothing left to stop him.
CUT TO BLACK
The battlefield roared in the distance.
And somewhere far beyond—
Tokita was still fighting.
