When she resisted, one of them stabbed her in the stomach.
By the time Stanley and his team arrived at the scene, the hoodlums had already escaped through the cashew plantation and dense vegetation, leaving the injured woman in a pool of her own blood. They rushed her to the hospital, and as they were about to return to their patrol cars, Stanley received a call from Chisom, urgently requesting help for her best friend who was in danger.
'Quick, we need to save a lady in distress. She should be around The Johnsons Filling Station,' Stanley informed his team after hanging up. 'We need to split up. The first team will come with me for the rescue, while the second team should surround the area in case the suspects attempt to flee.'
'Who's this girl we're saving as if she's the President's daughter?' murmured another police officer. 'Well, let's hope this isn't just another random theft.'
Sighing, Stanley led his team towards The Johnsons Filling Station, their patrol cars flashing lights and blaring sirens to clear the traffic. Stanley wanted to be the hero in Chioma's eyes, hoping she might consider him if he could save her. However, deep down, he knew Chioma wouldn't simply abandon her boyfriend for him. He decided to focus on fulfilling his duty as a police officer, without expecting anything more than that.
