Chapter 22 - Eclipse of the storm.

The Battle has taken a sharp turn.

Black mana coils around Abel like living smoke, twisting through the air in slow, violent spirals. Every breath he takes feels heavier than the last.

Across from him, Eclipse stands motionless.

The black sun in its chest pulses once more.

And the battle begins.

Eclipse moves first.

Abel reacts instantly.

"Tempest Art—"

Wind explodes beneath his feet as he vanishes sideways, a blur of compressed air tearing through the ground where he stood a fraction of a second earlier.

But Eclipse is already there again, this time though Abel has disappeared from his sight.

"Gale step," a voice says from behind.

Eclipse tries to turn around but a fist crashes down on his head.

BOOM—

The impact detonates between them, shockwaves ripping outward as stone shatters as if they are being hit by lightning

Neither of them moves back.

In this moment—

They are equal.

---

Abel exhales sharply.

Black mana tightens around his blade.

"Tempest Art: Gale Step."

His body disappears into wind again—but this time, the wind is blackened, corrupted by black mana. He reappears above Eclipse, swinging down his blade in a spiraling arc.

Eclipse tilts its head.

The space between them bends—

But Abel twists his wrist.

"Black Tempest—Rend."

The wind doesn't travel in a line.

It wraps.

A rotating spiral of black wind slams into Eclipse from multiple angles at once.

BOOM—

Eclipse slides back.

The black sun flickers.

Abel lands, boots scraping across fractured ground, breathing steady.

The room becomes silent for a moment

Then—

Eclipse smiles.

---

The air changes.

Gravity becomes heavy once more.

Abel's body jerks downward as pressure locks onto him from every direction.

"…Tch."

He pushes back with black mana.

The force stabilizes.

But Eclipse is already moving, much faster than before.

A strike lands.

Abel blocks but—

BOOM—

His body is launched across the battlefield, carving a trench through stone before stopping.

He rolls once, then rises instantly.

Blood flickers at the corner of his mouth.

Eclipse tilts its head slightly.

Abel wipes his mouth.

"…You're a pretty interesting creature you know."

He lifts his sword.

"I'm sorry, but only one of us is making it out alive."

Black mana begins to rise around him, not in bursts… but in layers. Thin, spiraling upward like Veins.

"And it's not you"

Wind follows.

Then more wind.

Then everything.

The sky above the dungeon fractures with invisible pressure as if the world itself is being forced to acknowledge what is about to happen.

Eclipse halts mid-motion.

For the first time—

It hesitates.

Abel closes his eyes.

"…Tempest Art."

The air goes still.

Even the black sun loses momentum for a fraction of a second.

Then—

Black mana and wind collide around him, fusing with each other. The storm turns darker, becoming Wilder with each passing moment.

Currents form across the entire battlefield.

Their presence destroys the surrounding area.

They surround Abel like a crown forming above a king who has finally stopped pretending to be weak.

Eclipse moves again—

The currents awaken.

Abel opens his eyes.

Red and vertical like a dragon's.

Black mana erupts around him in perfect synchronization with the storm.

Then

The world comes to a stand still.

Abel stops moving.

The wind doesn't stop.

Every current in the battlefield turns toward him like planets locking into orbit around a collapsing star.

The sky itself bends under the weight of command.

Eclipse tries to move—

But space refuses.

Abel lifts his sword, and the entire storm responds.

Black mana coils into every wind current, corrupting them, sharpening them, turning them into something far beyond natural force.

The battlefield becomes a sealed execution zone.

Eclipse finally reacts.

The black sun in it's chest begins to expand.

The room begins to tremble and the wind being generated begins to bend and twist, being absorbed by the black sun.

The more wind it consumes, the bigger and stronger it gets.

Eclipse's body begins to also be absorbed into the black sun before completely disappearing.

"A last ditch move, huh."

To the monster its either Abel died or they both died.

[ Notice ]

[ Duration of override is 56 seconds ]

[ 55 ]

[ 54 ]

"Crap."

The black sun keeps expanding, growing with each passing second.

All the wind Abel generated has disappeared, like it was never there. Instead replaced with the pressure the black sun emitted.

Abel's time is almost up. If there is anything he can do, it must be now.

The way the black sun expands reminds Abel of a black hole.

The way it's mass increases the more it absorbed was very similar.

Then it hits him.

He has skill very similar to the black sun but using it in his state was pretty risky on its own.

If the mass of the black sun and Abels skill are even just a little different, it could end with Abel being completely vaporized.

But right now Abel is more worried about not having enough mana.

His fingers tighten slightly.

…This might not work.

His mind flashes back to the day he was killed.

The pain, the humiliation he felt that day. He remembered the laughs of the people he once called his friends, smiling as he died.

Black mana begins to rise from his body.

"I came back for the sake of revenge."

He stares right at Eclipse with no hesitation

"No one, not even you is going to get In my way."

He sticks out his palm

"Void."

His voice is barely above a whisper.

[ Skill: Void activated ]

Abels mana begins to converge on his palm, forming a sphere.

[ 5 ]

The more mana Abel inputs into it the stronger it gets.

[ 4 ]

Abel lifts his hand above his head.

The black sphere begins to grow in size. It flickers, as if it can't hold itself together.

[ 3 ]

Abel's crimson eyes begin to glow, his black mana runs in waves as it gets absorbed into the sphere.

[ 2 ]

He takes one last look at the black sun.

He takes a step back.

[ 1 ]

Then throws the sphere towards the back sun.

[ Skill: Override deactivated ]

The black mana around Abel begins to fade. His clothes begin to change back to normal. His hair becomes black and his eyes become their usual shade of yellow.

The black sphere flies through the room, destroying everything in its path.

Not a single stone is left untouched in its wake.

Then—

BOOOM!!

the two sphere of infinite mass collide with each other.

The shockwave is enough to tear apart the whole room and it send Abel flying through the air.

He hits a nearby wall, causing cracks to form.

His head begins to bleed once more.

The two masses begin devouring each other.

With every passing second, the twin masses shrink. The battlefield trembles under the strain as the spheres continue to diminish, their pull only getting stronger even as their size diminishes.

Then—at the very instant they become no larger than a fist.

For a second, the whole world became silent.

Then—

They disappear. There is no explosion, no shockwave, no crack in space-time. They just vanish without a trace.

Abel stares at the place where the two masses where.

He breathes a sigh of relief before finally succumbing to the effect of override.

His mind goes blank and in matter of seconds, he loses consciousness and drops to the floor.

[ Notice ]

[ The player Abel MorningStar is unconscious ]

[ Due to insufficient health, player Abel MorningStar will be transported to the next area ]

[ due to low health no exp was gained from defeating the ss-class monster Eclipse ]

[ 3...2...1. Transportation has begun ]

under Abels unconscious body, a magic circle starts to form.

His body begins to turn into particles of light, lighting up the room.

Within a few seconds, the light starts to fade and Abel disappears from the cave
