Deep within the mountain's spatial magnetic field, a large, yellow, gorilla-like Pokémon lay resting under a berry tree.
It was incredibly robust, standing two meters tall, with black lightning-bolt patterns etched across its arms, legs, abdomen, and face. Two conductor-like antennae sat atop its head, and two powerful tails lashed back and forth behind it with immense force.
"Hei-ku!!"
Suddenly, the sleeping Electivire snapped its eyes open. Its red pupils flickered with electricity. It had inhabited this spot for a long time, driving away swarm after swarm of intruders. It hadn't expected another blind fool to come trying to steal its berries.
By this time, Owen and his team had already stepped onto the Magnetic Mountain. In the opposite direction, the Electivire was closing in on them.
Before entering, Mr. Lee had identified the resident Pokémon and researched its trainer's background.
"The opponent is the partner of Kai Miao, the only son of the Chairman of Leiguang Electronics," Mr. Lee noted. "Kai Miao is also a Professional Trainer."
"Leiguang Electronics??" Owen muttered awkwardly. He'd never heard of them.
"A domestic Top 500 enterprise. They aren't as famous as the giant conglomerates, but their scale is massive."
Owen nodded. These days, the public really only knew a dozen or so household names. Being in the Top 500 was impressive, but they lacked the cultural weight of companies like TreasureBay or Penguin. People tended only to notice what they used daily.
"It's here!!" Mr. Lee suddenly warned.
Before they could even head deeper, the Electivire they were discussing appeared before their eyes.
BOOM!!!!
A violent bolt of lightning fell, carving a deep dividing line into the earth right in front of them. The ground shattered, and debris flew everywhere, effectively blocking Owen's path.
"Marowak!!"
Mr. Lee's Marowak rushed to the front, staring tensely at the Electivire.
"HEI-KU!!!" Electivire let out a warning roar, signaling them to stop. This was its territory. To drive the point home, it lashed its twin tails against the ground. As electricity surged, the earth beneath it turned charred and black.
Owen, Magnemite, and Eevee were stunned. The raw power was terrifying, and its control was flawless. This Electivire was a true Professional-level powerhouse.
"Electivire, we'd like to stay here for just one day. Is that possible?" Owen asked, getting straight to the point.
Electivire looked at Magnemite, realizing this little one was the one who needed the spot. It began to inspect the visitor.
Spit!!
After a moment, it spat on the ground in disdain.
Weak!
This Magnemite was inferior even to the wild ones that came to steal berries. Why should it share this place, even for a single day?
As a Pokémon with a trainer, Electivire understood the hidden rules of the Electric Wilderness. Giving up a small area meant nothing to it, but its arrogant nature refused to acknowledge that this Magnemite had the "qualifications" to be its guest.
Mr. Lee remained silent. As expected, things weren't going smoothly. This Electivire was extremely difficult to communicate with. It looked like Magnemite's hope of using this magnetic field was dead for now.
"Mag-neee!!"
Magnemite stared at Electivire, its eye burning with anger. Electivire had just mocked it for being weak, and that was something Magnemite could not accept.
"Hei??!" Electivire barked mockingly.
The meaning was clear: "Little guy, if you can last one minute against me, I'll let you stay here for a day."
With its short temper, Magnemite immediately wanted to fight. But then its gaze fell on the scorched crater Electivire had just carved into the ground. It stopped in its tracks.
It wasn't a match... it could tell that much. Even at full power, lasting a full minute to earn that recognition seemed impossible.
Owen didn't speak either. He knew exactly what the combat power of a Professional Trainer's Pokémon looked like. Even Eevee wouldn't be a match for this thing.
"How about this? We'll continue with the evolution training elsewhere, and in the meantime, I'll try to contact Electivire's trainer," Mr. Lee suggested.
He could help Owen make the call, but he couldn't just send his own Pokémon to gang up on the Electivire. Even if they won, it would break the rules of the Wilderness.
Owen and Magnemite were the ones seeking to use the field; an outsider couldn't interfere. If everyone did that, the Wilderness would descend into chaos.
"Alright..." Owen nodded.
"Hei-ku!!"
Seeing Owen give up the challenge, Electivire shook its head boredly. As it turned to leave, it tossed one final word at Magnemite: "Trash."
Scared before the fight even started. Worse than the wild ones. And you wanted to share my mountain?
Owen's brow furrowed. This Electivire had a truly nasty personality.
"Wait, Magnemite—!" Suddenly, Magnemite surged forward. Owen called out in a panic.
It flew across the dividing line Electivire had drawn. At Owen's shout, it turned its head back and cried out with absolute determination.
It wanted to challenge the Electivire now. Even if it was no match, it would hold out for a minute. it had to prove it wasn't trash.
Having been mocked by its own kind countless times for being "unable to fly," Magnemite was incredibly sensitive to that word. Even a Legendary Pokémon would be furious if insulted like that!
"Mag-neee!!" It faced Electivire with a fierce aura.
"Vee??" At Owen's feet, Eevee was stunned. It called out to its teammate—Why go and get beaten up? We can find another way!
"This guy..." Owen saw the fighting spirit in Magnemite's eye and shook his head helplessly. But Magnemite's stubbornness was exactly to his liking.
"Mr. Lee, you saw it. Magnemite won't just walk away. I have to help it."
"Mag-neee!!" Magnemite beeped gratefully at Owen's support.
"Fine, do as you please," Mr. Lee sighed. He was mostly worried that Electivire would be too heavy-handed, causing an injury that would derail their training. But since Owen and Magnemite had made their choice, he would just watch.
"HEI-KU??!!" Electivire's tails thrashed against the ground. It was genuinely surprised by this suicidal act of defiance. It laughed mockingly again.
One minute?
I can beat you in one second.
A flash of yellow light erupted. Electivire charged instantly with Quick Attack, its fist glowing with the power of Thunder Punch—
Owen and Magnemite's pupils shrunk. So fast!
At such a short distance, Magnemite had no time to set up Gravity or Reflect. Electivire was already on top of it. The Thunder Punch connected, and the floating Magnemite was sent flying instantly, smashing into a nearby boulder.
CRACK!
The rock shattered.
"Mag..." Magnemite let out a pained cry.
But Electivire wasn't done. It was already closing in again.
Among the rubble, Magnemite struggled to rise, condensing its electricity. It was determined to last a minute. Even if it took a beating the whole time, it refused to black out.
Counterattack! It fired a Thunderbolt directly at Electivire, but... it had zero effect.
"Use Reflect!!" Owen shouted. Now wasn't the time for offense—it was a battle of survival!
"Mag-neee!!"
Magnemite realized its mistake. But just as it rose from the rocks, its Reflect only half-formed, Electivire's tail slammed down like a whip!
The sheer force caused the boulder beneath it to completely disintegrate!
