Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: I Agree

Hearing this bombshell, Alexander was shocked.

Alexandria, on the other hand was devastated, feeling as if all her strength had left her.

Ragnar quickly caught her and helped her stand up.

Ragnar however remained cold as ice, his eyes filled with killing intent.

In fact, he had already been suspicious the moment the two showed up at their residence unannounced.

When his wife left, he questioned the two, which made the woman beside her angry at being treated like a subject.

But since Lavia's goal was to avoid causing trouble or a conflict between the two families, she decided to first reveal her purpose to Ragnar.

This made him furious beyond measure, because it was a direct slap to their faces.

First, they had arranged the marriage, and now she wanted to cancel it as if it meant nothing. If the whole kingdom heard this, the scandal would be unimaginable.

They would lose face. At that moment, he truly wanted to strangle this girl and have her buried alongside that woman.

And as for retaliation from their family? Was he afraid at all? In this world, he feared no one except his father.

But he calmed himself and waited for his son to make a decision.

If Alexander didn't want to cancel the marriage, he would do everything in his power to make sure it happened, no matter what.

"This—this… husband, did you hear that? Lavia, our future daughter-in-law, actually came not to visit, but to annul the marriage," she said, her voice trembling with her heart aching.

She had loved this girl, thinking she was lovely, beautiful, and from a good family, truly a perfect match for their son's status.

But now, she had decided to break off the engagement.

Alexander after hearing this bombshell, felt a surge of excitement, though he kept his face completely expressionless.

Seeing the devastation on the other side from this bombshell, Lavia decided to show her goodwill, knowing that otherwise the two families would hold resentment for a life, something that she wanted to avoid.

She was only here to be free. She also didn't want a fat husband for life, one who was not only rotten to the core but also a womanizer.

On top of that, she had already become a saint of the palace, making her status tens of thousands above his.

As silence fell over the room, the first to break it was none other than Alexander.

"Broke the engagement? Are you treating my family so insignificant Lavia? You do know that your grandfather is the one who arranged this. Who are you to break off this engagement on your own?" Alexander said coldly.

Unable to accept such a blatant slap to the face, and of course, he had other goals in mind as well.

Before he could respond further, a loud slap struck the table making it crumble into pieces.

"You dare speak to our saint in that tone! Make sure to look properly and open your dog eyes to behold the presence of the newly selected saintess of our White Moon Palace," she said with a smug smile.

"Make sure to etch this in your mind, because there won't be a second chance," she added, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

"A lowly person wanting to eat swan meat? Hahaha, who do you think you are fat-ass?" she sneered staring at him.

Hearing the words "White Moon Palace," Alexander narrowed his eyes, recognizing the name and its significance.

As for the woman's venomous words, he ignored them. Back in the past, he had heard far trashier insults than anything she could say, so he treated her words like nothing more than a passing farts.

If Alexander could remember clearly, White Moon Palace is located in Blizzard Mountain, where the temperature is said to drop below zero degrees.

Not only that, the White Moon Palace has over nine peaks, and each peak master are at the self-transformation stage, and the palace master is recorded to be at the soul formation stage.

To become the saintess of this palace means she is likely to succeed in becoming the next palace master, a status that is far from insignificant.

Even Ragnar frowned, as he hadn't expected that this young girl would actually become the newly appointed saint of the White Moon Palace.

Seeing them look at her like that made Lavia proud, knowing that her talent had impressed the palace master enough to appoint her.

"So Alexander, we've been childhood friends and shared many joyful moments. To settle any grievances between our families, I'm also here to offer you some compensation," she said as her storage ring began to glow.

Hearing the term 'joyful moments,' his face darkened, since it seemed she was the only one enjoying them while he did not.

But when he heard the word 'compensation,' his interest was immediately piqued.

Then two items were placed on the table.

The first was a flat rock with blue zigzag patterns across its surface, and the second was a pill.

"This is a grade 3 Marrow Cleansing Pill. It can remove all impurities from the body, no matter how badly damaged it is. It's a one-time use, and even for those at the self-transformation stage, this pill is extremely valuable," she said, looking at Ragnar.

Ragnar did not react, because what she said was true. This Marrow Cleansing Pill was very rare, he had never seen anything like it except from his father, who had given it to him when he was young.

Not only are the effects of cleansing impurities in the body incredible, but it can also stabilize the body's foundation while strengthening it far beyond normal limits.

"A Marrow Cleansing Pill? Can it really transform me completely, like getting rid of my fat?" he wondered.

"As for this rock," she continued.

"Back in our sect, it's considered a treasure ten times rarer than a Marrow Cleansing Pill. My master said it's called a Lightning Rune. It has about a 5% chance of awakening a gift from the lightning attribute. The chance is very low, so it also depends on talent and compatibility," she explained.

Confirming what the items on the table, even Ragnar swallowed a mouthful of saliva, realizing just how priceless they were.

On the other hand, the elder beside Lavia wore a look of detest.

She wondered why the palace master would present such valuable gifts to a small noble family.

Even though she disagreed, there was nothing she could do to change it. But she still offered a word of contempt.

"Hmph, I don't know why the sect master gave this as compensation, but you peasants are very lucky," she said her gaze filled with disgust.

Ragnar, who had been marveling at it turned cold when he heard her statement. The aura of someone at the Self-Transformation stage descended around the place.

Even the calm sky seemed to tremble, creating a stormy atmosphere. Lavia who was sitting comfortably, began to sweat profusely.

Even if the pressure wasn't aimed directly at her, it didn't mean she couldn't feel it. The woman, who was experiencing the full force of the pressure, was in no good condition.

Her whole body trembled, clearly shocked by the sudden weight pressing down on her, as if a massive mountain was crushing her from above.

Even the seat she was sitting on broke beneath her as she slumped down.

Earlier, during the confrontation she had thought she was above him, but now she realized she had been tricked.

She was only at the 7th level of Self-Transformation, while the man was at the peak, almost reaching Soul Formation.

"If another word comes out of your filthy mouth, this humble home of ours will become your grave," Ragnar said, his eyes burning with intensity.

She couldn't even say a word as Lavia stood up and bowed her head while pleading.

"Calm yourself Uncle, Elder Oddete is just speaking nonsense, she doesn't really mean it,"

Ragnar just snorted while replying coldly, "Then tell her to watch her words, because some words can kill. And as for you don't call me uncle, as of today we are strangers."

Then the pressure vanished, Oddete could finally breathe as she stood up and straightened herself, realizing this time she had truly ruined her face.

As a respected elder of the White Moon Palace, this is a great slap to her pride and was not easy to accept.

"Just you wait you lowly vermin. This elder will make you pay back a thousand times over," she thought angrily, not even bothering to hide her killing intent as it leaked out.

Ragnar simply scoffed, looking at her as if she were a fool.

Unless the palace master appeared, even if all the peak masters of the White Moon Palace came, it would only cause him a minor inconvenience.
