The elevator descended silently. The numbers on the display screen kept changing.
B1, B2, B3…
It finally stopped at B7.
"Level B7?"
Celeste gripped her silver sword tightly. "This is already beyond the scope of a normal laboratory."
The elevator doors slowly opened, revealing a pure white corridor. The LED lights on the ceiling flickered several times.
At the end of the corridor was a heavy metal door. The biometric scanner beside it flashed red.
Yang Jian took a quick look and found it a bit funny. Too classic — it felt like he was playing Resident Evil.
He walked straight toward the door: "Stay close to me."
"Wait!"
Celeste lowered her voice. "There's a recognition system there. We should…"
Her words cut off abruptly. Her expression gradually became strange.
Because Yang Jian had already placed his hand on the recognition screen. His bio-field instantly simulated it.
The system emitted a soft beep.
[Permission verified. Welcome back, Supervisor.]
Under Celeste's shocked gaze, the metal door slid open silently.
Celeste: "You hacked their system?"
Yang Jian shrugged: "Bio-field. It's very simple."

Yang Jian didn't say anything more and walked straight inside. Celeste took a deep breath and followed closely.
Behind the door was a huge laboratory.
Dozens of cylindrical cultivation pods were neatly arranged. Inside each pod floated a humanoid creature.
They had human torsos but grew demonic horns and wings.
Experimental data refreshed constantly on the surrounding screens, recording various vital signs.
"They're manufacturing hybrid demons."
Celeste's voice tightened slightly. "This is blasphemy!"
As an exorcist, she hated nothing more than demons that killed humans.
Yang Jian activated his super vision. In an instant, he saw through everything. The experimental subjects on the beds were parsed into various data points in his eyes.
This experiment looked like genetic modification of species, except the subjects were a bit special.
A mechanical whirring sound suddenly came from the depths of the laboratory. The two exchanged a glance and moved closer.
Through the glass partition, they saw a man in a white lab coat standing in front of an operating table.
On the table was a struggling demon-like creature.
The man held a strange device and was injecting some kind of black liquid into the demon-like body.
"What is that?" Celeste's pupils contracted.
Yang Jian explained briefly: "He's injecting human genes into a demon body!"
The demon-like creature let out a painful howl. Its body began to twist and deform, eventually turning into a half-human, half-demon monster.
It broke free from its restraints and grabbed the lab coat's neck!
"Save… me…"
The lab coat struggled to turn his head and met the eyes of the two people outside the glass.
The next second
A strange smile flashed in his eyes. He suddenly pressed the remote control in his hand.
A piercing alarm sounded throughout the entire laboratory!
All the cultivation pods opened at the same time. The hybrid demons inside opened their blood-red eyes.
Celeste quickly drew her weapon: "Looks like we've been set up."
Yang Jian, however, was staring at the lab coat.
The man's figure was becoming transparent and finally turned into a cloud of black mist that dissipated into the air.
"Illusion magic."
Yang Jian couldn't bear to look. This guy… doing something so abstract?
At that moment, more than a dozen hybrid demons had already surrounded them.
Celeste assumed a combat stance. "Now is not the time to be dazed!"
Yang Jian smiled: "Don't be nervous."
He raised his hand. A massive flame erupted from his palm.

All the demons froze in place at the same time, then turned to ashes one after another as if they had been hit with a delete key.

Without looking at the stunned Celeste, Yang Jian walked toward the laboratory's main control console.

A man wearing a crow mask stood in front of an altar, with countless worshippers kneeling behind him.
Celeste sucked in a cold breath: "It's the Black Crow Cult! Weren't they wiped out thirty years ago?"
Yang Jian pulled out the USB drive: "Obviously, someone has revived the organization."
At that moment, the entire laboratory suddenly shook violently!
The ceiling began to collapse. Cracks appeared on the walls.
"Not good!"
Celeste's expression changed drastically. "It's a self-destruct protocol! This place is going to collapse!"
She grabbed Yang Jian and prepared to run. "We have to leave immediately!"
"Don't panic. I'll take you out." Yang Jian smiled calmly.
Then, under Celeste's puzzled gaze, he directly took her and disappeared from the spot.
Time slowed down around them. Celeste was wrapped in the bio-field. She stared wide-eyed at everything around her.
When the two reappeared, they were already at the emergency exit. Behind them, the laboratory exploded one after another.
Just as they appeared, a black shadow suddenly lunged from the side.
It was that lab coat! His body was already half-demonized. His claws went straight for Celeste's back heart!
Yang Jian had noticed him long ago but had no intention of intervening.

They turned to look back. The underground laboratory behind them had completely collapsed.
Distant police sirens could be heard. Light rain began to fall from the sky.
Celeste looked at the ruins and sighed: "The trail has gone cold."
"Not necessarily."
Yang Jian tapped his temple. "I've already memorized the coordinates of their next base."
Celeste hesitated for a moment and looked at Yang Jian. This man had been incredibly powerful from the moment he appeared.
"Why are you helping me?"
"Because it's interesting."
Yang Jian's bio-field automatically extended. The rain around the two of them was directly isolated. They stood in the rain, but their clothes remained dry.
It was hard to find anything in this world that could threaten him. The only fun was experiencing life.
