Chapter 80:
The laboratory's automatic doors slid open silently. Everyone followed Yang Jian as they slowly walked out.
The motion-sensor lights in the corridor lit up one by one with their footsteps, casting long shadows behind them.
Deadpool bounced ahead as the vanguard, his mask's white eye-pieces changing exaggeratedly.
"Guys! To celebrate the most successful breakup surgery in history!"
"I propose we throw a party and invite dozens of beautiful girls…"
"Hulk hates little bugs!"
The green giant suddenly grabbed Deadpool's cloak from behind and lifted him up like a toy, bringing him right in front of his face.
"If you make noise again, Hulk will stuff you in the toilet!"
"Whoa! New position!"
Deadpool wriggled in the air. "But I recommend a smart toilet — the kind with massage function!"
Banner helplessly pushed up his glasses.
"I have to say… do your missions usually get this lively?"
Natasha rescued Deadpool's dual katanas from Hulk's hand.
"Only when he's around." Natasha said, tossing the katanas to the ground in disgust.
Steve walked beside Yang Jian and reported in a normal tone.
"Boss, what should we do next?"
"Coulson will tell you."
Yang Jian waved without looking back. "You don't need to ask me about these things anymore. Just go to Coulson."
As the boss, he had zero interest in doing the work that employees should handle.
Enjoying life was his goal.
At the corner of the corridor, Zhao Helen was rapidly typing commands on a terminal.
"I've already encrypted and uploaded the Life Cradle data. Dr. Banner's permissions have been set."
Hulk suddenly stopped. His massive body blocked half the corridor.
"Hulk is hungry."
"When we get back to S.H.I.E.L.D., there's a cafeteria there."
Hawkeye held back a laugh: "But I suggest you don't eat too much. We have training tomorrow."
Deadpool crawled out from under Hulk's armpit: "I know a Mexican pizza place nearby — the hot sauce is spicy enough to make Thanos cry."
"ROAR!"
Hulk slapped him into the wall. "Hulk said he hates little bugs!"
Banner watched this absurd scene and couldn't help laughing.
He looked down at the group, then thought back to his old life, becoming even more determined to do his job well.
...
The afterglow of the sunset bathed the lawn in front of the villa. The Quinjet's engines emitted a low rumble.
Deadpool deliberately boarded the ramp last. He suddenly turned around and blew an exaggerated flying kiss.
"Dear boss, don't miss me too much! I'll continue harassing you in your dreams."
"Shut the fuck up!"
Steve grabbed him by the back of the collar and dragged him into the cabin. "One more word and I'll throw you to Hulk to wipe his ass!"
Hulk excitedly pounded his chest inside the cabin: "Hulk is willing!"
Dr. Banner held his forehead, but the corners of his mouth couldn't help lifting.
Natasha and Hawkeye had already fastened their seatbelts, looking like they had finally been freed.
As the hatch slowly closed, the Quinjet rose into the air and soon turned into a speck of light on the horizon.
Outside the villa
Wanda let out a long breath and patted her chest.
"That chatterbox is finally gone. If he stayed any longer, my chaos magic might have lost control."
Zhao Helen shrugged. "Tony's mouth is already annoying enough. This guy is basically the upgraded version."
"I really couldn't hold back," Mikaela raised her palm to show.
"That slap just now was on purpose."
Wanda and Zhao Helen recalled the sight of Deadpool crawling into the laboratory and laughed at the same time.
Yang Jian stretched lazily, his gaze sweeping over the three women, each with her own unique charm.
"Let's go. Time to do what we should be doing."
Zhao Helen raised an eyebrow and deliberately put on a seductive expression. "My Superman, what's so urgent?"
Wanda also showed a mischievous smile and stood beside Zhao Helen.
"Are you sure you can handle teaching three students at once?"
"Doubting me?"
Yang Jian raised an eyebrow. "Looks like some students need special tutoring."
Mikaela had already walked to the door. She turned back and threw a provocative look.
"Then prove it to us, Mr. Superman."
The villa's main door closed automatically, shutting out the laughter of the four and the deepening night.
The lights behind the floor-to-ceiling windows quickly dimmed, leaving only the stars and moon to witness this enchanting night.
...
The villa was quiet at midnight, with only the occasional chirping of insects coming from outside the windows.
Yang Jian gently closed the bedroom door, holding a glass of iced juice as he walked toward the terrace.
Moonlight poured down like water onto the lounge chair, giving his silhouette a silver edge.
He lay down comfortably and took a sip of the freshly squeezed orange juice.
His eyes narrowed slightly. Super vision pierced through layers of obstacles, taking in the global scene.
On the streets of New York, Spider-Man was hanging upside down chatting with a stray cat.
In Wakanda, Black Panther was in the lab fine-tuning a new combat suit.
Somewhere in the Atlantic, remnants of Hydra agents on a submarine were plotting, unaware that every word of their plan was being seen clearly.
Yang Jian shifted his gaze elsewhere. He wasn't interested in that kind of thing.
He shook the juice. The ice cubes in the glass clinked gently, making a crisp sound.
Suddenly, his gaze stopped on a certain spot.
Deadpool had somehow ended up there and was reciting love poems to the moon, with half his mask missing.
"This guy!" Yang Jian shook his head with a smile and continued scanning.
At S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, Banner and Hulk were actually sharing a laboratory.
Hulk clumsily handed over test tubes while Banner patiently explained. The scene was incredibly harmonious.
The juice in the glass gradually ran out.
Yang Jian stretched and the light in his eyes slowly faded.
He had seen enough of tonight's Earth reality show. Time to do something else.
The moon slowly moved, casting his shadow onto the wooden floor.
This omnipotent man was currently enjoying a rare moment of solitude in the most special way.
Time flowed slowly.
Yang Jian placed the empty juice glass on the coffee table.
"So boring."
He stretched, showing off his sculpted physique. "Might as well visit another universe."
Once the thought came, he acted on it.
His eyes closed. His consciousness instantly sank into deep space.
There, countless faintly glowing universe bubble membranes floated in the void, like clusters of sparkling grapes.
He looked around and noticed that more lights were on this time than last.
Yang Jian's consciousness body floated in the dimensional gap, observing those flickering universe bubble membranes with interest.
Some emitted eerie light, some flowed with energy, and a few were twisting and deforming abnormally.
He casually drifted toward a dense cluster of universe bubble membranes and stroked his chin with his fingers.
Which one to choose? Whatever — he'd just pick one at random.
His consciousness body dove like a swimmer and randomly plunged into a bubble membrane glowing with a faint blue halo.
...
Some world
When he opened his eyes again, Yang Jian found himself standing in an ordinary bedroom.
A peeling desk, a thin bed, outdated celebrity posters on the wall.
Car horns sounded outside the window, along with the neighbor's TV playing the evening news.
Early 21st century? It looked like a completely unremarkable ordinary world.
He curled his lips, not planning to explore the world right now.
The next second, his consciousness body had already returned to the main body.
