Chapter 355 - Su's Mental Examination

"Ow!"

Pardo shrieked as she fell to the floor.

This was the first time she had ever seen a human being electrocuted into a gaseous state. A kitty really could not handle such a cruel sight.

But that was not actually why Pardo screamed. She had just quietly sneaked around behind Jeffries, intending to openly help herself to his safe.

Mm, the owner's already dead, so this is ownerless property now. Don't mind if Pardo takes it! Let's see what treasures you've got!

Jeffries: His corpse was already gone, yet his privacy still had to be searched. Too cruel.

In the end, Pardo had escaped Odin's lightning only to get shocked by the safe's anti-theft system.

"Ow! Why does this safe electrocute people too?"

Pardo grumbled while rubbing her still-numb hand.

Clearly, Pardo had yet to experience MOTH's interrogations and had never gone up against all manner of military-grade anti-theft systems before.

As for Mad Hatter's supply warehouse, naturally no one would let Pardo know about it. Did Su and Vill-V not understand what kind of person Pardo was? How could they possibly take her on a tour of the supply warehouse?

Under normal circumstances, the military-grade high-voltage electricity Jeffries had installed around the safe to protect his "secrets" would have been enough to electrocute even a fully equipped soldier into charcoal.

Fortunately, Pardo was no ordinary person. She carried a whole pile of lifesaving equipment Vill-V had given her, and naturally, absorbing high-voltage electricity was among its most basic functions.

Since it was made by Expert, of course it was perfect. Not the slightest bit of current would slip through.

The only problem was that ever since Pardo got the equipment, she had started climbing high-voltage electrical fences every day... and had no idea she was actually being electrocuted.

So Expert had been forced to modify it, allowing just enough current through for Pardo to feel a little jolt and restrain her Pardo-like behavior.

Pardo was still thinking of a way to crack open the safe. Not even a military-grade safe could stump her.

But then a cold command came from behind her:

"Mulin, we're leaving!"

Shriek!

The giant steel eagle carried Odin straight into the sky.

Naturally, the giant eagle did not leave Pardo behind either.

She stretched out her arm, desperately trying to grab the safe on the ground, but an eagle talon immediately seized her outstretched arm and lifted her into the air, carrying her away from the Black Box room.

"Waaah! Wait! My treasure chest! I haven't taken my treasure chest yet—! What a massive loss!"

...

The artificial life-form "Tenmon Soji" was still rampaging through the Fog Forest.

Everything was being annihilated beneath "Tenmon Soji's" utterly illogical attacks.

The stage, originally five hundred meters deep, was now advancing toward one thousand meters.

"Tenmon Soji's" excavation efficiency far surpassed any mining robot.

"Fortunately, compared to the human 'Tenmon Soji,' this one has even less of a brain."

Expert's logical thinking was exceptionally clear. After investigating "Tenmon Soji's" condition, she immediately found a countermeasure.

"It even treats the mist humans exhale and the hair they shed as enemies."

"That actually fits an alien mode of thought quite well. They fundamentally don't understand what a human is or what qualifies as a human. In their concept, hair is also human, and even exhaled gas counts as human. They have no clearly defined boundary for the category of humanity."

After Vill-V created a large number of "duplicates," she finally gained some breathing room.

Id asked curiously, "Then what kind of existences are they?"

Conductor tapped Id on the head. "Don't treat us like some search engine. We've never even seen what they truly look like. How do you expect us to explain them?"

"Magician, how are the preparations for the magic trick?"

Magician: Roger that~ Everything's perfectly prepared.

As Magician spoke, she rummaged around inside her top hat, then pulled out a...

"Su...?!"

...

Inside the psychiatric CT room of Taixu Hospital, Su lay with his eyes closed on the bed of a massive intelligent CT scanning machine.

The scanner had been modified by Vill-V. It could scan a person's mental condition and provide medical recommendations.

Cang Xuan and Dan Zhu wore white coats and medical caps as they used the mental examination equipment Vill-V had prepared to conduct Su's pre-scan physical checks.

After all, not every mental state was suitable for scanning. If someone's mental condition was abnormal, undergoing the scan could easily worsen it.

Hua tried to step in and help, but Cang Xuan stopped her. Professional equipment was better left to professionals. Hua, a complete layperson and technological illiterate, would only make things worse if she tried to help.

Operating professional medical equipment required caution and precision. Even the slightest mistake could cause consequences that were difficult to remedy.

"Mr. Moon, open your mouth and say 'ah'..."

Su instinctively parted his lips.

Dan Zhu held a stick and shoved it straight into Su's mouth.

Then Su suddenly tasted a mouthful of chili oil, making him cough repeatedly from the irritation.

"Cough, cough... What is this?"

Cang Xuan stopped Dan Zhu. "Dan Zhu, stop messing around. Don't shove spicy strips into the patient's mouth."

"Huh? Aren't doctors supposed to stick little sticks into patients' mouths? Spicy strips are delicious. Cang Xuan, you should have a bite too."

Cang Xuan glanced sideways at the spicy strip Dan Zhu had pressed against her cheek, helplessness in her eyes. Did this girl really graduate from Harvard University with a degree in biology?

Apparently, the greatest possible source of error here was Dan Zhu.

With her sterile medical gloves, she pushed Dan Zhu's greasy hand away and said seriously, "Just save me some. I'll eat it after I'm finished."

As she spoke, she signaled Hua with her eyes.

Hua understood what she meant and immediately began dragging Dan Zhu toward the door. "Dan Zhu, it's a little stuffy in here. Let's go outside and get some air..."

"Huh?! Why? I don't think it's stuffy..."

Dan Zhu wanted to resist, but she was no match for Hua's overwhelming strength.

"Come on. Zeo has something tasty over there."

"Oh, there's food... Cang Xuan, we're leaving!"

Seeing Hua drag the foolishly waving Dan Zhu away, both Cang Xuan and Su on the hospital bed breathed sighs of relief.

"What a remarkably unconventional young lady." It was impossible to tell from Su's tone whether he was praising her or merely exasperated.

Cang Xuan removed the medical gloves smeared with chili oil and replaced them with a fresh pair before stating in an emotionless voice, "My older sister is extremely reliable when it matters, but normally she's always so frivolous. In the end, she still lacks a proper sense of danger."

With the connections completed, Cang Xuan activated the enormous CT scanner.

"Mr. Su, you're going in now."

"Mm. I'm ready."

The CT scanner activated, carrying Su into the scanning chamber.

"I'm so jealous that you have an adorable artificial life-form like Zeo. Someday, I want to make a Cang Xuan of my own too. One that's an enormous glutton."

When Hua and Dan Zhu returned carrying snacks they had mooched off Zeo, this was the sight that greeted them.

As the machine operated, it began producing a bizarre rhythmic beat: thump-thump-clang, thump-thump-clang.

At the same time, steam began billowing out all around it.

In short, none of these were phenomena that should ever appear in a legitimate medical machine.
