The refugee ship. Deep space.

Purple lightning died. Smoke cleared.

Thanos stood exactly where he'd been. The Infinity Gauntlet was slightly charred. White smoke curled from his golden cuirass. But on that granite body — not a single scar.

The Power Stone had formed a thin purple shield at his fingertips, absorbing the reflected blast head-on.

"A nice trick."

He brushed dust from his shoulder. The voice was still calm. But in those pale purple eyes, the indifference was gone — replaced by the particular cold that came from being offended.

"You have successfully caught my attention, Earthling."

"Father, let me KILL him!" Cull Obsidian tore himself from the wall, chain-hammer ready. Ebony Maw raised his hands — debris floated around him, sharpening into telekinetic blades.

"No."

Thanos stopped them with a gesture. He looked at the ship's trembling superstructure — bulkheads groaning, hull cracked, a vessel built for refugees, not gods.

"This ship is too fragile for our conversation."

He pressed his communicator.

"Fire at will. Turn this place to dust."

"As you command, Father."

Outside, Sanctuary II's broadside lit up. Thousands of cannons — each one capable of vaporizing steel — charged simultaneously. The deep space around the refugee ship turned bright as day.

"WARNING — destruction-class bombardment detected!" Gwen's voice in Jake's mind, urgent. "That's carpet fire! The shields won't last a second! Every civilian aboard dies!"

"I know."

The smile left Jake's face. He looked at the terrified women and children behind him. At Thor — one-eyed, bloodied, barely standing. At Loki clutching his daggers with white knuckles.

"Thor. Get your people to the escape pods."

"I'm NOT leaving! I am the King of Asgard, I will stay and—"

"Gwen — take over the ship! Forced ejection! NOW!"

"Copy! Firewall breached — escape sequence initiated!"

BOOM-BOOM-BOOM!

Dozens of escape pods erupted from the ship's stern — Heimdall, Valkyrie, Loki, civilians — launched into deep space like meteors scattering toward the far reaches of the cosmos.

"JAKE!! I WILL COME BACK!!"

Thor — forced into the final pod, staring through the viewport at Jake's back — burned with a one-eyed fury that promised return.

Jake turned. Faced Thanos through the shattered porthole.

Straightened his collar.

And did something insane.

He sprinted — straight at the hull breach — smashed through the reinforced glass — and threw himself into the cold, airless void of deep space.

Into the path of the incoming bombardment.

Thousands of energy beams — a rain of destruction designed to erase everything in their path — converged on the single figure floating between the dying ship and Sanctuary II.

"Is the child insane?" Ebony Maw whispered. "Taking on ship batteries with a body?"

Green light erupted in the void — brighter than the surrounding stars.

Jake's form didn't grow. It changed — four-legged, lizard-bodied, pale blue skin beneath a black-and-white suit. A transparent visor covered his head. Cold-emitting spines grew from his back, and his breath — even in vacuum — crystallized the dark energy around him.

Arctiguana. Polar Manzardill.

In the absolute-zero void, Jake felt comfortable. This species had evolved in conditions that made deep space feel like a warm bath.

He opened his fanged mouth and inhaled — not air, but the dark energy and ether of the cosmos itself.

"Absolute Zero — AURORA BREATH!!"

BOOOM—!!!

An ice-blue beam erupted — not just cold, but conceptual freezing. A force that didn't merely lower temperature but imposed stillness on energy itself.

What happened next defied every law of thermodynamics.

The thousands of incoming energy beams — plasma, superheated particles, destruction-class firepower — froze. Mid-flight. Mid-explosion. Flames crystallized. Plasma solidified. Each beam preserved in its exact posture of violent motion, transformed into a kilometers-long sculpture garden of frozen destruction floating in space.

The breath continued past them.

And hit Sanctuary II.

CRACK-CRACK-CRACK-CRACK!

The warship — a vessel that had annihilated civilizations across the galaxy — was encased in blue ice at visible speed. Main cannons seized. Engines locked. Bridge windows sealed behind white frost inches thick. The observation deck, the fighter bays, the reactor housings — all of it coated in crystalline ice that pulsed faintly blue.

The most powerful warship in the known universe became a giant coffin drifting in the void.

In the escape pod, Thor looked back through the viewport.

One person. One breath. An entire fleet — frozen.

Sanctuary II. Bridge.

The temperature was a hundred below zero. Ebony Maw shivered violently, frost forming on his eyebrows.

Thanos looked at the frozen displays. For the first time — genuine anger.

He clenched the Gauntlet. The Power Stone blazed.

CRACK!

The ice on his fist shattered.

"Secondary engines — NOW! Break these ice blocks!" His voice roared through the ship's intercom. "I am going to tear that lizard apart alive!"

Purple light erupted through the hull. Cracks spiderwebbed across the ice.

Jake — still in Arctiguana form, hovering before the vibrating ice mountain — watched the purple glow spreading through the frozen warship.

The Power Stone would melt through. Minutes, not hours. Arctiguana couldn't hold Thanos permanently.

But that was never the plan.

The refugees were gone. Thor was heading to Nidavellir. The escape pods were safely in jump lanes. Every civilian — alive.

"Gwen — retreat route?"

"Portal coordinates locked! Destination: Earth, New York Sanctum. Come back NOW — the Power Stone readings are going exponential!"

"Copy."

Jake detransformed. Human form in the void, life-support film from the Omnitrix keeping him alive for the precious seconds he needed.

He looked at Sanctuary II — ice cracking, purple light bleeding through, Thanos minutes from freedom — and gave the frozen bridge a thumbs-up.

Then flipped it upside down.

"Want to catch me? Come to Earth, Purple Sweet Potato Spirit. I've prepared something even bigger for you there."

BZZZ!

Green portal. Jake leaned backward and vanished.

Seconds later.

BOOM!!

Sanctuary II shattered its ice prison. Fragments scattered like a meteor shower.

Thanos stood on the bridge, looking at the empty void where his enemy had been. His expression could have frozen a sun.

"Father..." Ebony Maw approached, trembling. "The Earthling—"

"To Earth."

Thanos sat on his throne. Fingers tapped the armrest with the patient rhythm of a death sentence being signed.

"Since he is there — that is where we go."

"Notify Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight. I want the other two Stones."

He looked at the frostbite on the back of his hand. His eyes went colder than anything Arctiguana had produced.

"As for the lizard — he is mine."
