"Let go! It hurts!"
My body was dragged inside before being thrown to the floor. The silence swallowed the house.
The howling wind from outside battered the windows, harmonizing with the erratic beating of my heart, which pounded out of control.
Right in front of me was Zen. The man I once saw as my savior and a new love. But at this moment, the aura surrounding him had completely morphed.
He stood perfectly still... terrifyingly still. The handsome face that usually wore a gentle smile was now rigid and utterly devoid of emotion. Those light brown eyes, once radiating compassion, had gone dark.
Like a bottomless pit ready to devour everything in its path.
"Zen..." I called his name, my voice shaking uncontrollably as I tried to twist my wrist free from his grasp.
"Listen to me first, I can explain! I wasn't running away!"
"Shh..."
His long finger pressed against his own lips. A command for silence. It was a gesture far more absolute and terrifying than any shouted threat.
