Back when Haku first awakened his Ice Release Bloodline Limit, everyone around him treated him like a monster.
They feared him and hated him, and even his parents tried to burn him alive.
At his most helpless moment, Zabuza appeared and told him his power had value.
Haku knew he was being used as a tool, but even so, Zabuza became his only salvation and the meaning of his life.
Renji's lips curved slightly as he revealed a mocking smile and said calmly, "Love is the most twisted curse, and you are already beyond saving."
To willingly die for someone else meant there was no turning back.
Dying was foolish.
Living was the smart decision.
Even so, Haku's resolve still deserved respect.
Haku showed a faint bitter smile and replied quietly, "If there is a curse, then my Ice Release Bloodline Limit is the real curse."
If he had never awakened Ice Release, his parents would not have feared him.
Others would not have treated him as a monster.
Renji muttered inwardly that kirikagura's Bloody Mist Era had been caused by Obito manipulating Yagura, and nearly every disaster in the ninja world seemed to carry the shadow of the Uchiha Clan.
Haku's expression became serious as he spoke firmly and said, "He is the meaning of my existence and the value of my life,
and because he needs my strength I will fight for him and help him achieve his dream, which is also my dream."
Back then, during that heavy snowfall, when everyone else feared him, Zabuza reached out and told him his strength was needed.
Being needed gave meaning to his life.
Haku tilted his head slightly and smiled gently as he continued, "Because of him I can even accept this power that everyone once called monstrous."
Renji blew gently on his instant noodles and replied casually while eating.
"No one has ever needed me before, because I'm the one who chooses my playthings, so I'll treat those touching words as your last declaration."
He sighed slightly after swallowing a mouthful of noodles and added.
"Yesterday I was eating high-class meat with a big sister and today I'm stuck eating instant noodles in the mountains, so life really is unpredictable."
Haku complained quietly, "You really spend too much money."
He then looked toward Team 7 training in the distance and said seriously.
"Mr. Renji, your students are only Genin, so five days of training cannot possibly be enough for them to defeat Mr. Zabuza who is a jonin."
When Renji fought Zabuza earlier, Team 7 had been completely suppressed by killing intent.
Even during the later battle with Haku, they could only watch from afar.
No matter how talented they were, five days was still too short.
Renji drank some noodle soup comfortably and replied casually, "Don't say that because five days is enough time for many things,
and if I had five days I could even train that arrogant woman Mei Terumī into a very obedient puppy."
He then added calmly, "Of course that part was a joke because Mei Terumī has a strong personality."
Haku looked speechless and replied, "Pervert ninja."
Renji casually shrugged because he knew Haku assumed he was simply sharpening Team 7's willpower before their inevitable defeat.
At that moment Naruto ran over holding a training ball and complained loudly, "Teacher Renji, how am I supposed to pop this ba… ball…"
Before finishing his sentence, he noticed Haku.
Naruto froze, his face turned slightly red, and he subconsciously muttered, "So cute, even cuter than Sakura-chan."
Sakura instantly heard him from far away and rushed over angrily while rolling up her sleeves and shouted, "Idiot Naruto, what did you just say!"
Before Naruto could react, she punched him flying into a tree.
Naruto rolled on the ground in pain while clutching his head and cried out miserably that her punch hurt even more than before.
Sakura scratched her cheek awkwardly and said apologetically, "Sorry, I really didn't use any strength just now."
Naruto swallowed nervously because if she had used strength the result would have been terrifying.
Haku chuckled softly and said gently, "Your students are very interesting."
Naruto quickly stood up and ran in front of Renji while pointing angrily at him and complained.
"Teacher Renji, we're training seriously over there while you're chatting with a pretty lady!"
Renji looked at him indifferently and backhanded him away while replying calmly, "Stinky Brat, didn't I teach you to respect your elders and care for the young."
Naruto flew through the air screaming before crashing onto the ground again.
Sakura covered her face helplessly because Naruto never learned his lesson.
Naruto sat up with swollen lips and apologized honestly by saying, "I'm very sorry, Teacher Renji."
Sakura grabbed Naruto by the collar and bowed slightly toward Renji as she said apologetically.
"Sorry Teacher Renji, I'll take him away now so he doesn't disturb your date."
She secretly glanced at Haku and assumed Renji was meeting a beautiful older sister.
