After being taken to the Hogs Head Pub, Dumbledore did not perform a magic test on Harley, but instead chatted with Lily.
They talked about some daily trifles, and then Dumbledore warmly invited Lily and her daughter to have dinner together, continuing their pleasant conversation while enjoying the food.
As the sky grew dark and Lily was preparing to leave with Harley, Dumbledore suddenly stopped her.
He looked directly at Lily and said softly, "I still remember back at school, Slughorn often mentioned to me that you were the most talented student in Potions he had ever seen—even Severus was far behind your talent in some aspects... Recently, an old friend complained to me that the Department of Mysteries is in need of an Unspeakable skilled in Potions, but they haven't found a suitable candidate. I wonder if you would be interested?"
Hearing these words, Lily was momentarily stunned.
She never expected that Dumbledore would take the initiative to introduce her to a job, and as an Unspeakable in the Department of Mysteries at that!
Due to the special nature of the profession, the Ministry of Magic paid Unspeakables the highest standard salary, roughly equivalent to Severus's salary as a Potions Professor at Hogwarts, and three times the salary of a civil servant in a marginal position like Arthur Weasley.
Such a position was simply out of reach for an ordinary Wizard... and now that the opportunity was right in front of her, Lily was a bit at a loss.
Harley would start school in September, and Severus would be home to look after the child during winter and summer breaks, which meant Lily would have more leisure time.
Lily could definitely take the job, but... "Professor Dumbledore, do you really think I can do it? I married Severus right after graduation and moved to Australia with him. All these years, I've just been an ordinary housewife—"
Dumbledore interrupted Lily's self-doubt: "Lily, please don't belittle yourself. You must know that being a 'mother' who nurtures life is the greatest profession in the world; it's just that now that Harley has grown up, I think you need to change to a job that better reflects your abilities to start a new chapter in your life."
"There is absolutely no problem with your ability. As long as you are willing to take this step, I believe that before long, the Department of Mysteries at the Ministry of Magic will have one more outstanding Unspeakable."
Lily was moved by Dumbledore's words and immediately stated that after Harley started school in early September, she would take Dumbledore's letter of recommendation and report to the Ministry of Magic.
Harley stood by and watched the whole process, thinking about how Dumbledore first moved Severus to work at Hogwarts, and now he had moved Lily to the Department of Mysteries at the Ministry—it was as if Dumbledore wanted to firmly tie the snape family to his cause.
So, what kind of role did the snape family play in Dumbledore's future plans that required both of her parents to be mobilized?
And what role was she playing in Dumbledore's plan?
Harley looked at the smiling Dumbledore. Ever since they left St. Mungos, Dumbledore hadn't said anything about Severus and James's food poisoning, and he hadn't even mentioned a magic test.
Harley suspected that Dumbledore knew she had secrets and that he didn't want others to know about her differences.
Unfortunately, Harley knew too little information, and she couldn't figure out the reason even by the time school started in September.
Severus and James were lucky; they were discharged after only two days in St. Mungos.
Neither of them blamed Harley; instead, they began a strange tug-of-war over family ties.
James seized the opportunity of the food poisoning to try and persuade the snape family, hoping to officially become Harley's godfather.
To achieve this goal, he even promised to make a formal will: once he passed away, all the wealth and assets of the Potter family would belong to the lovely little Harley.
James's best friend, Sirius, also stepped forward without hesitation, expressing full support for James's decision.
He solemnly declared to the snape family that if they agreed to let James be little Harley's godfather, then his brother's goddaughter would be his goddaughter, and Sirius was equally willing to leave the vast assets accumulated by the House of Black for generations to this lovely little angel.
James was currently the star Seeker for the Montrose Magpies Quidditch team, Sirius was an elite Auror in the Ministry of Magic's Auror Office, and Lupin was the guard and tutor Dumbledore had arranged for the current savior, Neville Longbottom. None of them were short of money.
At only five years old, Harley was on the verge of inheriting a fortune of billions that several generations would find hard to squander!
However, faced with this tempting proposal, Harley's father, Severus, refused with an exceptionally firm attitude.
He was annoyed by those two idiots from Gryffindor House, believing they were insulting him.
Lily's generous salary undoubtedly gave Severus a great shock as well. As soon as he was discharged from the hospital, he immediately announced that he would return to his old profession, intending to rely on his own abilities to earn billions for his beloved daughter.
Thus, for the rest of the summer, Severus took on various Potion orders without stopping, putting all his effort into earning money to support the family.
Because of this, although Harley was still at a young age, the pocket money she could spend each month actually soared to a staggering 100 Galleons!
You should know that one hundred Galleons was roughly equivalent to two months' salary for a civil servant in a marginal Ministry position like Arthur Weasley. Harley didn't like going out, so she couldn't spend all this money. (The Weasley family:???)
On September 1st, Harley put on her small schoolbag with a long face. Since her father had returned to Hogwarts yesterday afternoon and her mother had to report to the Department of Mysteries at the Ministry early in the morning, Harley needed to go to The Granger Family next door and have Mrs. Granger take her and Hermione to school together.
But a small accident occurred—as soon as Harley opened the door, she found James leaning against an orange McLaren M6GT, waving at her.
Merlin's pink fingernails—where did James get this car!
James noticed Harley's eyes were glued to the car and happily showed off to her: "Nice car, isn't it? Sirius prepared it for me; I heard it's a limited edition—how about it, my little princess? Let's go to school in your godfather's cool sports car. You'll definitely be the center of attention!"
As he spoke, James sighed with some regret, "It's a pity Wizards can't ride flying broomsticks in front of Muggles; otherwise, it would be much cooler if I sent you to school on a broom!"
Harley was silent for a moment and then asked a soul-searching question: "Uncle James, do you have a driver's license?"
James said dismissively, "I'm a Wizard, I don't need that kind of thing."
