Chapter 262 - Then Take Me

It was warm, warmer than she expected. Perfect. She turned back to look at Dimitri, who was standing at the water's edge watching her with an intensity that made her heart skip.

"It's perfect," she said. "This is perfect. You're perfect."

"I'm far from perfect," he said, moving into the water toward her. "But I'm yours."

She swam out deeper, and he followed. They floated together in the warm water, and for the first time in months, Eve felt something release in her chest. The constant tension. The awareness of danger. The knowledge that their time together was running on a clock.

Out here, there was no clock.

"Tell me something," she said, floating on her back, looking up at the sky that was turning purple as the sun sank lower. "Tell me something I don't know about you."
