The floor gave way under them with a sound like stone tearing open.
Lyria barely had time to gasp before everything tilted.
Kael grabbed for her first. His hand caught her arm, hard and warm, but the broken stone pulled them all the same. The chamber cracked wider with a deep grinding sound and dust blasted up around them in a thick gray cloud.
Mira shouted her name.
Ronan yelled something that got lost in the noise.
Then the whole section of floor vanished.
Lyria dropped with Kael beside her and a sharp hand yanked at her wrist on the way down. The last thing she saw above them was Selene leaning over the broken edge with a look on her face that did not belong to a woman who had been hiding this much for this long.
Then the dark swallowed everything.
They hit hard.
