Deidara ground his teeth in frustration. "These fools dare to look down on my art! I must teach them a lesson they won't forget!"
"And besides, if we can't bring the Three-Tails back, how am I supposed to report to the Leader? I refuse to be looked down upon."
At heart, Deidara was still an artist who cared deeply about his pride.
He kept throwing out wave after wave of explosive clay, barely holding back the Konoha ninja behind a wall of fiery blasts...
It was clear: Deidara would never leave without taking the Three-Tails with him!
Tobi wanted to subdue the beast himself just to make Deidara agree to retreat. But one powerful Tailed Beast Ball sent him scurrying away with a high-pitched scream.
"Truly a master of acting!" Aoi clicked his tongue in admiration.
If I hadn't watched the anime myself, I would never believe that this complete buffoon is actually the masked mystery man who controlled the Nine-Tails and destroyed Konoha over a decade ago...
"Well then, I suppose I'll give it a try."
Aoi took out gold, melted it down with flame, and cast it into another coil. He then placed a single coin inside.
Coin inserted successfully...
Crackle, crackle!
Terrifying pale-white lightning danced across the golden coil. Through electromagnetic induction, a massive propulsive force built up within...
"Super — Electromagnetic Cannon!"
Aoi raised his finger and flicked the coin resting at the coil's tip with all his might.
"BOOM!!!"
Even though it was midday and the sun was bright, the terrifying lightning instantly illuminated the entire sky.
Violent energy radiated outward, toppling nearly a hundred massive trees.
Amidst the blinding flash, everyone saw a beam of light, even more dazzling than the sun, piercing through the Three-Tails at a speed exceeding the sound of itself...
"ROOOOAR~"
It took several seconds after the beam vanished for the agonized scream of the beast to echo across the lake. When their vision finally returned, every jaw dropped in shock.
Gurgle, gurgle...
The once mighty giant turtle — Isobu, the Three-Tails — was sinking like a broken ship, bubbles rising all around it as it plunged toward the depths...
In moments, more than half its body had disappeared under the surface.
The entire lake turned crimson red with blood, and a terrifying, clean hole was clearly visible right through its shell.
Gulp...
Everyone swallowed hard. Tobi stood frozen, muttering blankly, "Senpai... that thing didn't just die, did it?"
"Impossible!" Deidara retorted instinctively. "Every tailed beast has survived countless wars. How could something like this kill it so easily..."
But the more he spoke, the less confident he sounded. The destructive power of that lightning strike had been absolutely horrifying!
"Senpai, let's just take the Three-Tails and go," Tobi shrank back fearfully.
"If that big brat shoots one of those at me... I don't exactly have a turtle shell to protect myself!"
Hearing this, Deidara had to agree. He summoned several C2 Clay Dragons, and while the Konoha group was still stunned, they grabbed the unconscious Three-Tails and fled at full speed.
"Don't you dare run away!" Naruto leaped forward to give chase, but before he had gone more than a few steps...
CRACK...
Naruto stepped onto something hard and mechanical. He lifted his foot in confusion, just as a small, cute-looking mine popped up from the ground.
"BOOM!"
A massive column of fire shot into the sky...
"Damn it!"
Kakashi instantly activated his Sharingan, the Mangekyō spinning into action.
Using Kamui, he sucked Naruto into the dimension at the very last split second before the explosion hit.
When the flames cleared, Deidara and Tobi were nowhere to be seen on the water.
"I won't let you escape!"
Naruto leaped back out of the dimension, ready to pursue again. But just then, Kakashi collapsed to his knees, clutching his eye.
Two streams of bright red blood trickled down from the corners of his eyes...
Not being an Uchiha, forcing the use of Kamui like that had taken a terrible toll on his body.
"Dammit!"
No matter how unwilling Naruto was, there was nothing more they could do now.
Meanwhile, far away over the open sea...
"Tobi, what was that technique you used back there?" Deidara nodded thoughtfully.
"It actually contained some of the true essence of art."
"The Great Landmine Plain Technique!"
Tobi scratched his head shyly. "It's all thanks to your guidance, Senpai..."
"Hahaha!" Deidara laughed heartily.
"Tobi, never stop pursuing art. From this day forward, I officially acknowledge you as my partner!"
Laughing and chatting, the comedic duo vanished into the distance...
