"Bring out the true power of shinobi and slaughter these commoners!"
While rallying their troops, the three Kage unleashed their widest-range techniques, forcing the situation back under control.
In truth, the Allied Forces were never that weak to begin with...
They had crumbled only because they were caught completely off guard and terrified by the unknown.
Once the Kage joined the fight, the shinobi slowly regained their composure.
They quickly realized that these Serpent-Cursed Soldiers were actually not overwhelmingly powerful — it took at least three of them just to pose a threat to a single lower-rank ninja.
"Hey! We can win this!"
"Push harder! These monsters aren't all that special!"
"Take this, you damned things!"
As the situation gradually improved, the three Kage sneered disdainfully.
"Hanzō is a fool, thinking he can defeat shinobi with mere civilians. Pure delusion!"
"Just like always, Hanzō never had any patience," Hiruzen Sarutobi scoffed, shaking his head.
"Just like how he ran his village... if he had taken the time to raise even ten thousand more of these monsters, the outcome might have been different."
"Oh? Is that so? Then what about ten thousand more?!"
From a distance, Aoi Ren waved his hand with a cold smile. "I am not Hanzō! Second Column — Advance! Crush them completely!"
"ROAR!!!"
Ten thousand more Serpent-Cursed Soldiers burst roaring from the dense forest, announcing their terrifying existence to the world.
Gulp...
The three Kage swallowed hard. Hiruzen had truly spoken bad luck upon them.
The endless stream of soldiers pouring out of the woods was like a shadow growing larger and larger over their hearts.
"Charge!!"
At this point, there was no choice but to fight with everything they had. There was no room to retreat — only to attack.
Shinobi must never lose to commoners! This is the war between gods and mortals!
But alas...
"Dammit... we are simply too few in number!"
Believing the war was already over, the majority of shinobi had been recalled to their home villages. The Allied Forces now numbered less than three thousand.
Three thousand against twenty thousand... despite the gap in individual strength, sheer numbers would inevitably overwhelm them.
Every time a shinobi fell, the army's morale dropped further. Never before had they been slaughtered like this by ordinary citizens.
For the Serpent-Cursed Soldiers, however, it was the exact opposite.
Even though it cost five of their lives just to kill one ninja, their morale soared higher and higher.
Because...
Never in their lives had they felt such pride and satisfaction — to stand tall and kill a shinobi.
As casualties mounted, the three Kage finally cast aside all thoughts of shinobi honor. As long as we survive, we can fight another day. The best plan now is to flee!
"Retreat! Fall back immediately!"
Protected by the remaining elite guards, the Allied Forces scrambled to escape the Land of Rain...
But...
"Think you can leave?"
Aoi Ren sat high atop the sea of soldiers, waving his hand coldly. "Third and Fourth Columns — Cut off their retreat! Surround them completely!"
Before the words had even faded, two massive, dark armies surged out from behind the shinobi forces.
Like the layers of a sandwich, they pinned the Allied Forces tight between themselves and the army pressing from the front.
"We're done for..."
Fleeing shinobi froze in their tracks. Enemies ahead, enemies behind... there was nowhere left to die but here.
"Dammit!" Hiruzen gritted his teeth in fury. "Since when did that old fox Hanzō become so ruthless?!"
Now that things had come to this, their options were running out...
"Form a defensive line! Hold your ground!"
The three Kage grouped together bitterly, preparing to fight to the very end.
