Continuing with the fight, the demon inside DANTE's body manages to draw a highly powerful sword; apparently, it was forged before the banished archangels arrived in hell. Who could this unique character be, representing such a massive problem for MAMMON?
******: It seems you are ready for this fight, isn't that right, MAMMON…?
MAMMON: I don't know who you truly are, but this won't end like this; you haven't beaten me just by holding that sword.
MAMMON converts his swords into diamond; it seems that, being the king of greed, he can materialize certain precious materials such as gold, silver, and diamond to grant more power to his weapons. Everything is tense between these characters. MALEKIN has no choice but to be a spectator for the moment because he has not yet recovered. Quickly, MALEKIN takes a massive leap and positions himself on a cliff to watch the upcoming fight.
MAMMON: Fine, meddling demon, the time has come.
MAMMON takes a great leap, attempting to strike " ****** ", who simply blocks with Kusanagi. MAMMON is shocked because he failed to move him even a single centimeter, and he grows furious, activating his "Essence Theft" power. However, on this occasion, " ****** " activates a sort of shield in front of him, which prevents the theft of his powers, and MAMMON begins to despair. From one moment to the next, MAMMON loses sight of his enemy and looks everywhere. After glancing up at the sky, he feels a massive stab wound and looks down, realizing that " ****** " was right in front of him and had stabbed his chest within seconds. MAMMON grips " ****** "'s head with brute force, trying to pull him away, but he cannot budge him; he then activates his power to turn him into gold, which " ****** " notices and quickly retreats, leaving MAMMON falling to his knees on the ground.
MAMMON: You bastard, why are you so powerful? You truly are an ancient demon; I, one of the fundamentals, cannot best you. How infuriating.
******: hahaha, you are an embarrassment to demons, MAMMON the so-called king. This is over. (with a serious look).
From one second to another, "******" vanishes and reappears behind MAMMON, but MAMMON's head had already been severed and hits the ground. Right at that moment, REX and RENJIT arrive, approaching where MALEKIN is stationed and managing to witness this exact event.
RENJIT: MALEKIN… What is happening? And why does DANTE look like that?
MALEKIN: I don't even know what's going on myself; out of nowhere, he appeared with that power, but I think it has to do with the demon MAMMON mentioned.
REX: What the hell?
RENJIT: There's no time to explain, but in short, there are humans who were created with a demon inside them, and it was the work of the evil one.
REX: Oh… now a lot of things make sense, but wait, could animals be like that too?
MALEKIN: To be honest, we don't really know; REX, that's all that damned king said, but maybe, who knows, look, it seems like it's all over.
RENJIT: Something is wrong; I can still feel that monster's life force.
REX: Something very bad is coming, friends, I can smell it in the air.
On the battlefield, "******" stares at MAMMON's corpse, restless and highly serious, when out of nowhere, a portal tears open in mid-air, showing us immense mountains of gold inside. A massive amount of gold pours out of the portal, covering MAMMON's body and head. The severed parts begin to fuse with the gold, and all of the metal is compressed, causing MAMMON to reconstruct his body and come back to life.
MAMMON: (furious) I won't forgive you, I won't forgive you! (veins pop out across his face). You forced me to resort to my lifeline technique; after that cursed demigod, you are the most irritating thing I have ever fought against.
******: It appears your life is bound to the gold or the wealth you possess. Interesting. You are practically immortal, yet nothing is entirely immortal, hahahaha.
MAMMON: To think I've had to spend part of my fortune just to survive death. I am so furious, you bastard! Now I will show you my true power.
The ground beneath them begins to tremble, and an armor crafted from gold and diamonds starts to form around MAMMON's body—a highly striking yet incredibly resilient armor—and a bizarre atmosphere begins to settle over the entire area. MAMMON lets out a roar: "Greed Synthesis!"
" ****** " feels a bit lightheaded upon hearing MAMMON's words, and out of nowhere, DANTE's companions step in front of his body with fierce glares; hatred burns in their eyes, and then the three of them look at one another.
RENJIT: (annoyed) All of you, get out of my way; I will kill MAMMON and claim his armor for myself.
REX: (growling) That monster is mine; his bones and all his treasures belong to me, I won't hand them over to anyone.
MALEKIN: (provoked) I think I'll finish you two off first, and then I'll kill MAMMON.
" ****** " watches this whole scene in bewilderment, wondering what is wrong with DANTE's companions, and looks over at MAMMON, noticing that he is smirking. Out of nowhere, the three friends begin to fight each other, leaving " ****** " with no choice but to watch.
MAMMON: hahaha, you must be wondering what happened. Well, I have just unleashed my power, and everyone around me will feel extreme greed, fighting each other for the treasures; in the end, those three will slaughter one another, hahaha.
******: Do you think I give a damn about the lives of those bastards? I only promised to kill someone, and I am looking right at him, hehe.
MAMMON grows furious at the ancient demon's insolence and gets completely serious; several different weapons, such as spears, swords, bows, daggers, and more, rise up from the ground.
MAMMON proceeds to attack the ancient demon, but he is swiftly sliced in half. He regenerates at immense speed, and we see that the portal with the mountain of gold has not disappeared, but it was shrinking. Quickly, " ****** " realizes that every time he kills MAMMON, the gold diminishes, and once it hits zero, he will finally be able to kill him for good. He rapidly sets out to slash MAMMON repeatedly, but the king regenerates too fast due to the gold stored in that dimension.
Suddenly, MAMMON takes a massive leap, looks in the direction of the war, raises his hands, and drains all the strength from his own warriors as well as MALEKIN's faction, causing the war to grind to a definitive halt. MAMMON's body expands slightly, visibly brimming with greater power, and now he can actually put up a bit of a fight against " ****** ".
MAMMON: Now then, you bastard, I'm using all my power to try and hurt you. Look what you've driven me to do; now I'll show you the last favor some friends owed me, hehe.
As MAMMON lands on the ground, his touch causes a fissure to tear open in the earth, and from it emerges a highly familiar weapon: it was the "Sword of Chaos" belonging to one of the 4 Horsemen. The king was laughing like a lunatic having such tremendous power in his hands, and we see how " ****** " grows slightly concerned upon seeing this weapon.
MAMMON: Let us begin with this. (with a diabolical smile).
MAMMON pulls another massive sword out of his pouch; it's a two-handed greatsword, but he wields it with a single hand. With both the Sword of Chaos and the greatsword gripped in each arm, he attacks with blinding speed. " ****** " merely defends himself, but this time, he moves his other hand. Throughout this entire time, he had only been using Kusanagi, and now he is wielding the Abyssal Sword as well.
A high-speed clash unfolds; meanwhile, the friends are still fighting among themselves to win the right to face MAMMON. However, when they notice the massive battle taking place between the two demons, they stop for a moment to contemplate the grand spectacle being delivered by those two imposing figures. Slash after slash, the sounds of colliding swords echo, and we see how " ****** " holds the upper hand, inflicting multiple cuts all over MAMMON's body. Yet, thanks to his gold-fueled immortality power, he remains standing, even as his mountains of gold slowly but surely begin to vanish.
MAMMON: (in his mind while fighting) How is it possible that I cannot defeat him? HOW?!
In his mind, MAMMON has a flashback to where he was defeated by BELL. Infuriated, he absorbs even more power from DANTE's friends, leaving them collapsed on the ground, and now he is putting intense pressure on "******". However, the latter does not allow himself to be overwhelmed easily and now, with a much more ominous presence, activates DANTE's powers: "Dark Mantle," causing a massive black aura to envelop DANTE's body.
MAMMON can no longer do anything against this immense power, and his hands tremble with utter helplessness. He falls to his knees on the floor, watching how a mere human had already reached the domain of the gods. In the sky, we see "******" release the Kusanagi katana to grip the Abyssal Sword with both hands. All of his energy concentrates into the blade, and he unleashes a building-sized "Shadow Slash" straight toward MAMMON.
The king simply takes the hit, and we see that his entire mountain of gold within his dimension vanishes down to the very last gold coin. DANTE's body begins to fall toward the earth; his friends quickly recover after MAMMON's defeat. MALEKIN immediately leaps to catch DANTE, who had already reverted to normal. Inside DANTE's mind, we see the two personalities face-to-face.
******: Jijiji... (as he fades into the air). This round is on the house, DANTE, but don't you forget that I will come back for my body.(smirking).
DANTE HERALDI: I'll be waiting for you. (shows him the middle finger). It won't be that easy for you; I will train harder so I never have to need you ever again.
DANTE opens his eyes, sees his friends gathered all around him, and slowly stands up.
MALEKIN: Take it easy, DANTE, rest. This is finally over.
REX: (wagging his tail) Yeah, DANTE, calm down.
RENJIT: I don't blame him, he's anxious.
DANTE HERALDI: (struggling to stand up) I want to see that demon's corpse. Where is it?
MALEKIN: With that kind of power you threw at him, there's nothing left of him, but let's go check just in case.
Our friends head to the impact site, where we see an enormous crater and a very deep hole—so deep that everything inside is pitch black. At the edge of the crater, our friends come to a halt.
MALEKIN: See, DANTE? He's gone. It looks like we won, all that's left is to get out of this place, I am so exhausted.
RENJIT: We're all tired, and put something over your face, MALEKIN.
MALEKIN: Very funny, you third-rate ninja. (puts his handkerchief back on).
REX: I don't see what's wrong with it; you talk too much, RENJIT.
Our friends laugh for a brief moment as they walk away from the site, when out of nowhere, they sense a malicious presence behind them. Upon turning around, there stood MAMMON, completely torn to shreds; only a torso with one hand and half of his head remained.
MAMMON: (dying) You... think you won, heh... Now you will die, DANTEEEEEEEEEEE!
In his last attempt, Mammon created a silver spear and hurled it at Dante at great speed to kill him, but Rex jumped to shield him. At the last moment, Malekin leaped in front of them, creating a white barrier, but it wasn't powerful enough, and the spear pierced his chest, lodged in his heart. Quickly, DANTE, seeing this situation, summons Kusanagi, who comes to Dante's hand like metal to a magnet. With all his remaining strength, he leaps forward, piercing MAMMON'S head and unleashing a "shadow slash" that disintegrates MAMMON'S head, finally killing him.
DANTE quickly spins around to try and heal MALEKIN, pulling the spear from his chest, which causes MALEKIN to begin bleeding out rapidly. DANTE tries to heal him, but he barely has any strength left; he realizes that his very last drops of energy were spent on that final "Shadow Slash." Amidst tears and utter desperation, we see how MALEKIN is dying.
MALEKIN: DANTE, leave him… there's nothing more you can do (coughs blood). It's best he rests now; just promise me… that you'll protect the city.
DANTE HERALDI: Do you think I'll just let you die? You are someone very precious to me now, you are my teacher.
REX: (with tears and his tail tucked low) DANTE, save him.
RENJIT: (with tears in his eyes) Damn it, MALEKIN, don't give up. DANTE, you can do this.
DANTE HERALDI: I don't plan on leaving you, not after we finally won our freedom.
MALEKIN: It's useless… (coughed up blood) I can already… feel… death's embrace; what's more, I see MORS arriving.
At that moment, DANTE remembers the items he had been sold, and his sadness instantly turns into a look of shock because he possessed MORS's potions.
DANTE HERALDI: That's right! MORS's potions.
Immediately, DANTE pulls the life-saving potion he had bought from MORS out of his pouch and makes MALEKIN drink it. Everyone watches in sheer amazement as MALEKIN's wounds miraculously begin to close rapidly, and by using "Appraisal," DANTE sees MALEKIN's health bar fill up completely.
DANTE HERALDI: Dammit, I almost forgot about what I bought. Thank you for making me remember, MALEKIN.
MALEKIN: (bolting upright) Holy shit, DANTE, I really thought I wasn't going to make it, hahaha!
REX: (wagging his tail) I thought you were going to die too, MALEKIN, thank heavens!
RENJIT turns away, and MALEKIN looks at him, puzzled.
MALEKIN: I thought you wouldn't miss me, RENJIT.
RENJIT: (turning back to face him, tearing up) Don't be stupid, you damn demon… After all, you are the only brother I have left. (cries and hugs him).
Following this, we see our friends returning on top of REX's back, who was utilizing his "True Form" power in order to carry them all.
DANTE HERALDI: Hey, MALEKIN, is it true that you saw MORS? Did he say anything to you?
MALEKIN: No, he didn't say a thing to me; that miserable bastard just snapped his fingers in disapproval when he saw that I survived.
DANTE HERALDI: Jajajaja, typical of that crazy lunatic. Anyway, I'll have to thank him whenever I see him again. REX, you brought the loot, right?
REX: Don't worry, I have it right here in a sack.
RENJIT: Before we left, I saw you approach MAMMON's body. What did you extract from him?
DANTE HERALDI: We have his heart and a few other things; we will get stronger because our journey is not over yet. (REX and DANTE smile).
RENJIT and MALEKIN look at DANTE, completely determined in his main mission, and they just smile. We see that this war has officially come to an end. Now, what new adventures await them? We will find out very soon.
