Chapter 209

Ice Bear

"Hmm... It's mine."

"No, it's mine."

"Alright... alright... alright."

While Son Jo-Woo and Sung Jin-Woo were seemingly arguing calmly over who would get the Ice Bear, the giant bear unleashed a thunderous roar that shook the air around them.

Its massive claws rose, and it suddenly charged toward one of the hunters with the intent to kill.

At the moment when no one was able to react—

Son Jo-Woo disappeared.

No one saw him.

Then—

He appeared directly behind the giant bear.

He swung his hand with brutal force toward its spine.

Crack—!

The sound of breaking bones echoed through the area, heard by everyone with terrifying clarity.

Son Jo-Woo leaped into the air, twisted his body, and delivered a crushing kick to the bear's head.

Its head was violently driven into its own body with sheer bloody force, and the giant bear collapsed lifelessly onto the ice.

Silence fell.

"Son, you bastard! Didn't you say we'd decide who gets it?!"

Son Jo-Woo smiled calmly and turned toward Sung Jin-Woo.

"Yes...

The faster one gets the prey.

That's how it was decided."

He spoke in a mocking, amused tone.

No one said a word.

Every eye was fixed on him, stunned...

Paralyzed by the overwhelming power he had displayed.

---

After some time, everyone sat around a burning fire in heavy silence.

As for Son Jo-Woo and Sung Jin-Woo, they had gone their separate ways.

Sung Jin-Woo went to complete his daily training, while Son Jo-Woo...

Went looking for trouble.

It didn't take long.

A large group of Ice Bears appeared before his eyes.

He smiled calmly and looked at the monsters before him.

"An army of monsters...

Should clash with an army of monsters, shouldn't it?"

With those words, a dark black cloak fluttered around his body.

And from its shadow—

Ten skeletons emerged.

Human and ogre skeletons.

"Let the hunt begin."

The skeleton army charged toward the Ice Bears, and the two sides clashed in an utterly brutal battle.

Son Jo-Woo's skeletons were far stronger than before.

After the hellish training he had endured, his skeletons had evolved to Level Four.

Every two skeletons were capable of bringing down a single Ice Bear.

Before Son Jo-Woo...

There were fifteen Ice Bears.

But one of them—

Was different.

Larger.

Its aura heavier.

It stood at the back, silently watching the battle...

Exactly as Son Jo-Woo did.

"So...

You're the leader."

Black daggers appeared in Son Jo-Woo's hands.

He leaped from the ice and charged at tremendous speed toward the leader bear's head.

But before he could reach it—

The bear swung its right paw with tremendous force toward the exact point where he appeared.

"Damn... Smart and fast, but—"

Son Jo-Woo calmly retreated, a small smile appearing on his face.

Then—

He vanished.

Completely disappeared.

No sound.

No scent.

No aura.

Stealth.

The skill he had obtained after killing the assassin.

The leader bear began looking left and right, but found nothing.

Its enemy had completely vanished from its senses.

That wounded the beast's pride.

As a leader and a powerful hunter—

Such humiliation was unbearable.

The bear violently beat its chest and roared madly, then raised both paws to smash the frozen ground beneath it—

But—

Its body suddenly stopped.

In the next moment, blood erupted from its mouth like a fountain.

Then—

Its head fell to the ground.

Son Jo-Woo appeared behind it, his dagger dripping with fresh, warm blood.

He smiled triumphantly.

Then he looked behind him.

Only three bears remained.

As for his skeletal soldiers—

They had been shattered forever.

"It seems my soldiers are still weak...

I need to obtain stronger soldiers.

After all, my skill...

Is Spirit Summoning."

He sighed calmly and patted his shoulder.

His clothes shifted—

And a small black snake appeared, coiled around his neck.

"Astaroth...

Can you kill them?

If you do—

I'll let you have five corpses.

And don't forget...

Three of them are still alive.

If you devour them...

You'll become stronger."

Astaroth nodded enthusiastically, his eyes blazing.

He leaped onto the frozen ground.

Compared to the three bears, he was the size of an ant.

He moved calmly through the snow, then stopped before the first bear.

The bear was enraged by the death of its leader and paid no attention to the snake.

It prepared to charge—

But suddenly...

Astaroth began to grow.

Larger...

And larger...

Until he became the size of two bears combined.

He opened his mouth—

And swallowed the first bear with terrifying ease.

He swung his tail like a cutting sword.

The second bear's body was sliced in half.

Then—

He raised his tail once more and struck the third bear's head with tremendous force.

The head flew high into the air.

Son Jo-Woo smiled calmly as he watched Astaroth grow stronger.

Then he raised his hand toward the leader bear's corpse.

"Rise from the dead...

And follow me."

A dark aura surged from his right hand, devouring the skin...

Then the flesh...

Then the organs.

Until nothing remained but a massive skeleton.

It stood before him.

Important Note from the Author:

The level of a summoned monster is different from Son Jo-Woo's level.

The fact that Son Jo-Woo is Level 5 does not mean the bear is absolutely stronger than him.

The leveling systems of the summoner and his summons are fundamentally different.
