Chapter 108
Death (2)
[You have died.
When? How? Why? And where?
Death is an absolute truth, a law of time that never breaks.
Everything begins with emptiness, with an end, with nothingness…
And one day, it will all return to nothingness.
If you have died, then you have died.
And this is the end of your long journey.]
Kim Dokja held Arthur's lifeless body in his arms.
The weight was more than just a body—it was the weight of truth itself.
He stared at his face, at his head, at his features that no longer moved.
He didn't know what to do.
Arthur… had died.
Was he supposed to die one day?
That damned monster, that powerful being who always seemed to defy death itself—
was it really over?
Not once had this possibility crossed Kim Dokja's mind.
Even though the King of Death had been present since the beginning of the scenarios,
even though annihilation hovered above their heads at every moment,
he had never imagined…
that the first to fall would be Arthur.
He couldn't change what had happened.
'I am a reader…
I read the entire novel.
But Arthur never existed.
When I first met him, it was strange, illogical.
And yet, time after time, he never stopped surprising me.'
'I drew an ending I wanted…
and Arthur was part of it.
And now… everything is over.
Arthur is dead. Truly.'
Kim Dokja's body trembled with silent pain.
A deep sorrow for a friend who understood him more than anyone.
For a companion he laughed with, fought with, and shared every moment of survival with.
Yoo Joonghyuk stood beside them, silent.
He had died… truly.
{Kill Points: 100/1000}
{There are enough points to activate the feature.}
{Feature activated: Demon King of Slaughter.}
{The title "Demon King of Slaughter" activation has been postponed.}
{Your soul has been separated from your body.}
Red windows began to appear…
before closed eyes.
A hand rose, trying to touch one of the windows—
but it passed through it.
The person looked at his hand.
It was strong, muscular.
"This isn't my hand… where am I?"
His eyes opened wide.
A transparent body.
"This… my original body?
No… this is my soul.
My soul has taken the form of my original body.
So… I really died.
If it weren't for this title, I would have died without return.
Damn you, system…
you fail me day after day.
If updates are so important, then give me quests and I'll complete them.
Damn it…
Where are the others?"
Arthur searched.
He was now a soul, disconnected from the world,
trapped in the void between life and death,
at the ancient barrier…
the barrier that separates souls from the living.
He moved in his soul form through the forest,
until he noticed a massive light glowing ahead.
He rushed toward it.
"Let the flood begin."
Shin Yoosung raised her hands.
A circular gate opened in the air—
a golden vortex, majestic and terrifying.
Monsters poured out of it,
rushing toward everything in sight.
The scene looked like the true end of the world.
"Where is Dokja, that bastard?
And where is that damned Yoo Joonghyuk?"
Arthur searched for them,
until two furious voices echoed through the area.
"Shin Yoosung! I'll kill you!"
"Today… you will die!"
Dokja… Yoo Joonghyuk.
Arthur raised his head.
He saw absolute fury in Yoo Joonghyuk.
His eyes had turned blood-blue,
his veins bulged,
his teeth clenched violently.
He charged at Shin Yoosung with insane force.
From below, Kim Dokja lunged forward,
his sword raised,
his Bookmark activated.
His eyes burned red,
rage beyond description.
Shin Yoosung smiled.
She caught Yoo Joonghyuk's sword in one hand,
and Kim Dokja's sword in the other.
"Don't you seem a bit too angry, Captain?"
"I will kill you no matter the cost!"
"Why all this anger?
Because that piece of trash died?
Don't tell me…"
"That person is not trash!
He is my companion!"
Yoo Joonghyuk shouted, swinging his sword toward her neck.
"Companion?"
She looked at him with cold surprise.
"Captain…
are you saying that boy was your companion?"
"He is my companion, you bastard!
And because of you, he died!"
Kim Dokja stepped forward, his voice trembling with rage and pain.
"After I kill this foolish bitch,
I'll come for your head too, Yoo Joonghyuk!"
Yoo Joonghyuk lowered his head.
He blamed himself… truly.
'Look at them…
all of this for coins.'

'Selfish bastards…'
"How dare you say that in front of me?"
Shin Yoosung rushed toward Yoo Joonghyuk,
ignoring Kim Dokja.
She swung her hardened hand toward his chest.
He barely blocked at the last moment—
But her knee rose,
and struck him with terrifying force.
His body was pushed back ten steps.
"How dare you say that about someone you barely knew?
What about Lee Jihye?
What about Lee Hyunsung?
What about the others?"
A brief silence.
"Were they all just tools in your game?"
Yoo Joonghyuk wiped the blood from his mouth.
"I don't understand what you're saying."
He raised his sword, his eyes cold.
"But…
you killed my companion."
"And for that…
you must die."
Darkness began to devour Shin Yoosung's mind and heart, slowly and cruelly, like a hidden beast consuming what remained of her humanity. Rage mixed with pain, sorrow with bitterness, until everything within her became black chaos.
"Ah… it seems you're truly angry," she said with a faint smile devoid of warmth.
"Angry because you lost just one person? Don't worry…"
She slowly raised her hand, and at that moment, strange creatures began to emerge from the gate behind her. Twisted beings, resembling mummies, yet far from human—distorted bodies, uneven limbs, exuding the stench of death.
"I'll let you watch as I torture and kill everyone you care about… including you."
The creatures surged forward all at once, surrounding Yoo Joonghyuk and Kim Dokja, restraining them with terrifying force, as if they were created solely to crush and capture.
Shin Yoosung stepped forward, but before she could take a single step—
A girl wielding a sword rushed toward her like a storm.
"How dare you do this to my master?!"
It was Lee Jihye, her expression burning with fury.
The clash did not last long.
The nearby sea suddenly froze, ice spreading like a white beast, swallowing Lee Jihye's entire fleet. Ships shattered, and Lee Jihye fell to the ground, her body covered in wounds and blood.
Shin Yoosung spoke coldly, "Do you know what your precious master said when you died? He said that sea battles would become a little more difficult now."
Lee Jihye froze, unable to tell whether it was the cold or the shock.
In the next moment, Shin Yoosung rushed forward, swung her arm, and struck Lee Jihye's head with devastating force, slamming her into the ground.
Elsewhere, Lee Hyunsung raised his fist and brought it down onto the frozen sea with immense force, shattering the ice completely. People clung desperately to floating fragments in chaos.
"Ah… Lee Hyunsung, the unbreakable shield, just as I remember. Yoo Joonghyuk's loyal dog."
Her voice dripped with mockery.
"You know me?" Lee Hyunsung asked, steady despite the chaos.
"How could I not? I witnessed your death myself. Do you know what Yoo Joonghyuk said back then? He said: what a loss… to lose such a shield."
Lee Hyunsung's eyes widened. "What…?"
Shin Yoosung summoned a level-seven monster—a giant gorilla—that charged toward him like a storm. He raised his shield, took the blow, then tightened his right arm.
His fist swelled with immense power, and with a single strike, he sent the beast flying several steps back before it collapsed unconscious.
Lee Hyunsung stood tall, without hesitation.
"I don't know what you're talking about," he said firmly,
"but I'm not Yoo Joonghyuk's companion… I'm Kim Dokja's… and Arthur's."
Shin Yoosung's expression froze. Her eyes widened in shock she couldn't hide.
"Who…?"
She muttered, "This regression is truly different…"
She pressed her foot against the ground and launched forward at terrifying speed, her golden hand aimed at Lee Hyunsung. He tried to raise his shield, but she was faster.
Her strike pierced his abdomen. Blood burst from his mouth as his body was thrown into the air and slammed into the trees.
"Kim Dokja… Arthur?" she murmured. "Who are they?"
She began to feel that something was wrong.
Before her, those who were supposed to rule the Absolute Throne scenario… were fighting her.
One thought formed in her mind: what happened to the Absolute Throne? And who is leading this army?
She raised a golden shield around herself, blocking everyone's attacks, but the water beneath her feet froze even more violently.
This frost… wasn't this the Queen's power? The Ichthyosaur Queen?
"You… you're my future self, aren't you?"
a childish but firm voice shouted.
"Don't you dare touch my big brother!"
What the younger Shin Yoosung did not know… was that Arthur had already died.
The young Shin Yoosung charged forward, riding the Queen, toward the disaster with force.
The disaster Shin Yoosung's expression froze.
Her blood boiled with fury.
"So… that bastard found my past self and made her his subordinate?"
she muttered with killing intent.
"Damn you, Yoo Joonghyuk."
She commanded another Ichthyosaur Queen to attack. The two queens clashed violently until the young Shin Yoosung was thrown off.
The disaster smiled and approached her—
But threads suddenly moved, wrapping around her hands, binding her.
Olympus… and also?
A massive praying mantis crashed down from the sky with terrifying force.
It was Lee Gilyoung and his creature.
"What did you do to my brother?!" he shouted in rage.
"Where is my brother Kim Dokja… and where is Uncle Arthur?!"
The disaster froze. "…? Who?"
"Arthur! Kim Dokja! Who are they?!"
She released pure magical energy, destroying Lee Gilyoung's mantis, and his body fell onto the ice.
She approached him, but stopped when the young Shin Yoosung cried out in pain, "Where is Brother Arthur? What did you do to him?!"
The disaster grabbed Lee Gilyoung by the neck. "Tell me… who is Arthur?"
"It doesn't matter… I'll kill—"
She suddenly stopped.
She sensed danger.
She leapt, and in the next instant, an artillery shell struck the frozen ground.
It was the Ghost Fleet… Lee Jihye's fleet.
She looked around. Lee Jihye was still fighting. Lee Hyunsung… was still alive.
'How? I struck them with all my strength…'
Then she saw a small boy, radiating a pure green aura, healing everyone around him.
'So… you're the reason.'
She threw Lee Gilyoung aside and rushed toward him.
Lee Hyunsung tried to stop her, but a single blow sent him flying.
The disaster approached that small child—
"Who… are you?"
Lee Shun's body trembled violently, fear slipping into his voice despite his effort to stay strong.
"Where is my big brother Arthur? What did you do to him?"
'Again… with that bastard.'
Rage ignited within the disaster Shin Yoosung. She could no longer tolerate hearing that name repeated again and again, like a thorn piercing her mind.
In an instant, she lunged forward and grabbed him by the neck. Her fingers tightened mercilessly, crushing his throat.
Lee Shun's body lifted off the ground, convulsing violently. A muffled scream escaped his throat, filled with pain and suffocation, as his breaths became terrifyingly shallow.
He was only one step away from death…
