Chapter 86 - Chapter 86 Thor is Banished

After Thor, accompanied by Loki, Sif, and the Warriors Three—Volstagg, Fandral, and Hogun—arrived in Jotunheim, they stepped into a realm of endless glaciers and jagged ice plains.

Unlike Asgard's golden grandeur, Jotunheim was harsh, barren, and ancient. Massive ice structures rose like natural fortresses. Frost Giant sentries eventually emerged from the frozen mists as the group advanced deeper into enemy territory.

Thor did not hesitate.

Mjolnir spun in his grasp, and he charged.

The Frost Giants fell quickly under the hammer's crushing blows. Each strike carried the force of thunder. Ice shattered. Giants were hurled aside.

Then Laufey, King of the Frost Giants, appeared.

More giants surrounded them.

Laufey mocked Thor's arrogance. Loki attempted to de-escalate, reminding Thor they were guests in a sovereign realm and had violated an ancient truce.

For a brief moment, Thor seemed to consider retreat.

Then Laufey sneered.

"Run back home, little princess."

That was enough.

Thor attacked.

Mjolnir crashed down again and again. Lightning tore through frozen spires. The battle escalated rapidly.

The Frost Giants outnumbered them.

Volstagg was injured.

Hogun was nearly overwhelmed.

Fandral struggled to keep formation.

Thor fought at the center, summoning lightning from storm clouds he conjured over the battlefield. Frost Giants were blasted apart by divine thunder.

Meanwhile, Sif and the others attempted to retreat toward the cliff edge where they had arrived via the Bifrost.

A massive Frost Beast pursued them.

They called for Heimdall.

The Bifrost did not open.

Before leaving Asgard, Heimdall had warned them clearly:

"If your actions endanger Asgard, I will not summon you home."

They had ignored him.

Now, the Frost Beast charged.

Suddenly—

Thor descended from above, hammer first, piercing through the creature's skull and slamming it into the ice.

He rejoined them.

But Laufey and his warriors had already encircled them again.

Then—

The sky split open.

The Bifrost erupted in radiant energy.

Odin arrived.

Mounted on Sleipnir.

Gungnir in hand.

The Allfather stood before Laufey, calm but absolute.

Thor, still seething, exclaimed:

"Father! Destroy them! End this!"

Odin silenced him immediately.

He turned to Laufey instead.

"I offer my sincere apologies for the actions of my son."

This was not weakness.

It was restraint.

Odin had once waged war across the Nine Realms. He had conquered Jotunheim before. But he no longer sought endless bloodshed.

Without further escalation, Odin summoned the Bifrost and returned them to Asgard.

Laufey was denied retaliation.

Back in Asgard's throne room, the wounded were escorted away.

Thor faced Odin.

Loki stood nearby, expression unreadable.

Thor could not accept Odin's restraint.

"You are a vain, greedy, cruel boy!" Odin thundered.

Thor retaliated verbally.

"You are an old man and a fool!"

The insult cut deeply.

Odin's anger finally erupted—not merely from Thor's words, but from his reckless endangerment of Asgard itself.

Odin stripped Thor of his armor.

With Gungnir raised, he invoked ancient magic.

"I now take from you your power!"

Thor was cast through the Bifrost.

Before sending Mjolnir after him, Odin placed an enchantment upon it:

"Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor."

The hammer followed.

The Bifrost shut down.

Thor was no longer the God of Thunder.

Earth — Puente Antiguo, New Mexico

Jane Foster's mobile astrophysics unit was monitoring atmospheric anomalies.

Eric Selvig analyzed data.

Darcy Lewis handled equipment and driving.

Suddenly, a massive energy column tore through the sky — a phenomenon unlike anything previously recorded.

Jane rushed outside to observe.

Darcy panicked and attempted to drive away.

"Darcy, stop!"

"I am not dying for extra credit!"

In the chaos, Thor appeared in their headlights.

They struck him with the van.

Once.

He stood up, disoriented, muttering about Asgard and the Bifrost.

They struck him again.

This time he stayed down.

Jane insisted they check him.

Thor regained brief consciousness, demanding to know which realm he was in.

Darcy tased him.

They transported him to the local hospital.

Meanwhile, Jane's instruments captured residual Bifrost energy readings.

At the same time, Stark Industries satellites detected a high-velocity impact object landing several miles away — forming a crater.

Mjolnir had arrived.

S.H.I.E.L.D. satellites detected both anomalies.

Director Nick Fury was already en route to meet Tony Stark regarding the Avengers Initiative.

Natasha had previously reported that Tony Stark and Pepper Potts appeared physically younger and healthier.

Tony's palladium poisoning was no longer externally visible.

The arc reactor glow was gone from his chest.

Nick Fury found that detail… interesting.

Tony Stark remained too valuable an asset to ignore.

Funding.

Technology.

Global influence.

Whatever had changed, Fury intended to find out.
