Chapter 97 - I'll get the chuds to do it

"We need to leave! Pack up and get back to the cars!" Carlisle lightly shouted as Edward and Bella left.

Hearing that, everyone snapped back into reality and started to pack up the equipment, and carry it to the cars.

Even Silas picked up and carried some equipment.

"Is everything packed?" Carlisle questioned.

All the cullens looked around and nodded.

"Yeah, we're all packed up."

"Great, then let's go." Carlisle said as he got into the car's driver's seat.

Silas grabbed Alice's hand and pulled her into the back seat.

Alice was still a little distracted from what just happened.

Silas glanced out the window as Carlisle started to drive.

He was going to give Alice space, she needed to figure it out on her own.

Afterall he doesn't know what is going on in her mind.

The ride back to the house was very quiet, this gave Silas plenty of time to think.

Why should he kill James, Laurent and Victoria?

Don't I have subordinates for that? Or what do I even pay them for?

And I do pay them… not in money but protection.

Look at Gregor and Cessian, they wouldn't be able to live as carefree if they didn't know I was backing them up.

And neither would Viktor.

They can choose to work for me, or be rats hiding in the gutter.

Or well… they can't choose, but you know, I pay them plenty.

So Silas formed a plan, the second he gets out of this car he is going to use an excuse to leave for a second.

Then he's gonna call Viktor.

Yes! This is a splendid idea!

Silas couldn't help but smile to himself.

My genius truly knows no bounds.

Yes.

Just then Alice glanced up at him.

"What are you so happy about?" She was genuinely confused.

It didn't exactly look good for them.

Silas's smile dripped off.

"I was just thinking about how we won the game."

Alice frowned.

"We did?"

Silas nodded.

"We scored the most points, that must mean we won."

Alice thought for a second then smiled.

"You're right!"

"Haha, we won!" Alice exclaimed excitedly.

Rosalie in the front seat frowned.

"What are you two so happy about?"

Alice smirked at her.

"We won, you lost."

Rosalie clicked her tongue.

"Sick sense of happiness you two got."

Carlisle looked over at Rosalie.

"No need to be hostile Rosalie, it's good to think positive in bad situations."

Silas looked at Rosalie and rubbed it in.

"The big dawg, Carlisle the philosopher has spoken."

Rosalie wisely chose to remain silent.

Carlisle looked in the rear view mirror.

"That said, we still need to focus, a family member is in danger."

Alice nodded seriously, seeing her so serious Silas embraced her.

"We'll be fine." Silas reassured.

They quickly arrived back at the Cullen house, Rosalie and Emmett quickly grabbed the baseball equipment and carried it down to the garage.

Silas followed Alice upstairs, they sat down in the living room but then Silas stood up.

"Alice, I need to go wash my hands, that baseball bat was all sticky."

Alice nodded absentmindedly.

"Yeah… I'll go later."

Silas nodded and walked towards the bathroom that was furthest away from everyone else.

He took out his phone and called Viktor.

Beep… beep.

The ringtone rang in his ear, he lightly used his spiritual energy to block out the sound.

"Master?" A voice rang out from the phone and into his ear.

"Yes, Viktor, I need you to contact Cessian and Gregor, I need them and you to hunt down some vampires."

Viktor on the other side of the phone was pacing around nervously.

The master never called him!

When he heard he was supposed to hunt down vampires he nearly tripped and fell.

"Are… are you serious?"

Viktor was excited, he hadn't really gotten a job from the master… ever!

There had been something here and there, but it's all easy.

Silas frowned.

"Why would I joke?"

"Yes! Sorry master, I was just so surprised."

Silas shook his head in disappointment… maybe I should just do it myself.

"So… master, who are the ones you want us to hunt?"

Silas rubbed his thumb and index finger together.

"You remember those who intruded on our territory, the trio?"

The line went silent for a second.

"Yes, master, I remember, are those the ones?"

Silas nodded and said.

"Indeed, and remember to kill the one named James slow and painfully."

Viktor nodded.

"James, die slowly and painfully, right, I'll remember."

Viktor walked towards the clothing rack and grabbed his jacket.

"I'll call Cessian and Gregor right away!"

Silas nodded.

"Do that, I gotta go."

"Remember if you don't do a good job, I will kill you."

Viktor felt a chill run down his spine.

"Don't worry, master, I got this, I am a professional."

Click!

Silas hung up, he couldn't be bothered to listen to Viktor's bragging.

He just hoped all those brain killing reality shows hadn't made Viktor dumber than he already was.

Silas quickly rinsed off his hands, it wasn't a lie that the baseball bat was sticky.

He then returned to the living room.

Now most of the Cullens had gathered.

There was only Edward missing, along with Bella.

Just as they were sitting and discussing what to do, a ring came from the front door.

"Who is that? At this hour?" Esme asked and stood up, getting ready to answer the door.

But just then Carlisle stopped her.

"Let me, just in case."

He walked down and saw through the window that a person was standing there.

It was Laurent who they had spoken to before.

Carlisle was confused, but still opened the door.

Silas watched this from the second floor railing.

It seems the fence sitter, Laurent, is here to save his skin.

Laurent told Carlisle he wanted to talk… and in private.

So Carlisle led him to his office, and then Laurent told Carlisle about James, and their arrangement.

He was just traveling with them, he wasn't an ally.

How convenient.
