Rasa watched the points on his system panel surge and immediately knew what was happening.
Obito Uchiha had started moving.
The One-Day Dream Modification Card had lit the fuse of Obito's hatred. Then the Ninja World Big Events Weekly had pointed him in the right direction. Obito would probably ruin Danzo's reputation first, then start slaughtering members of the Shimura clan. Only after Danzo had been pushed to the absolute edge of suffering would Obito finally go in for the kill.
Killing Danzo inside the Leaf wouldn't be easy, though. Root operatives were always nearby.
"Judging by how fast the points are climbing, Obito's really going all out."
"At this rate I'll hit three thousand again in no time."
That thought gave Rasa another idea.
He could turn Obito into a long-term tool.
Having Ebizo and the rest of Sunagakure spread rumors had limits. Back when they were still at war with the Leaf it was fine—no one cared. But now that they'd signed a peace treaty, Sand had to be careful. If the Leaf caught them secretly targeting Konoha, it would cause serious problems. Their reputation across the ninja world would take a hit.
So Ebizo was being extremely cautious these days.
But if Obito did the dirty work, it wouldn't touch Sunagakure at all. The Leaf would only hate Obito.
And he wasn't the only useful tool out there.
Obito was perfect because Rasa had Rin Nohara's death to dangle over him. The Uchiha clan and the Takechi clan were also excellent options. Both groups hated their former villages so much that they'd jump at any chance to strike back. Rasa could contact them in disguise. His full set of Wind Style techniques would hide his identity, and the Byakugan would let him see every trap they tried to set.
Right now, only Rasa could safely make those contacts.
He left the Kazekage Tower and headed straight for the Sun Disk construction site.
It was massive.
A huge square base with a giant golden sphere sitting on top.
Rasa spotted a familiar figure.
"Elder Chiyo?"
He hadn't expected her to show up in person. She had only agreed to study the blueprints and give advice before, claiming she wanted to retire when Rasa asked her to oversee the project. Apparently the technology had been too tempting.
Chiyo looked slightly embarrassed when she saw him.
"Kazekage-sama."
Rasa didn't push it. She was still one of Sunagakure's top fighters—along with himself and Pakura, one of only three people in the entire village at that level. Losing her would be a disaster.
"Elder Chiyo, how's it looking?"
"The solar energy absorption module is finished. Once activated, it should work immediately."
"Has it been tested?"
"Already tested. It works."
Chiyo hesitated.
"Kazekage-sama… should we turn it on again so you can see?"
"Go ahead."
Rasa wanted to witness it himself.
This thing had come from an A-rank pity reward and had eaten up an insane amount of rare metals and village resources. Sunagakure could only afford to build one. The return had better be worth it.
At Rasa's order, the module activated with a sharp click.
A strange, powerful attraction formed on the surface of the giant golden sphere.
It didn't pull on anything else—only sunlight. Not just the light hitting the sphere directly, but sunlight from the surrounding area as well.
Rasa wasn't standing directly under it, yet when he looked up the sun no longer felt blinding or scorching. It had become a soft, pale gold. The light that reached the ground carried almost no heat.
Even standing in direct sunlight, it felt like he was in the shade.
The effect stretched a full kilometer in every direction.
Beyond that, the sun's intensity was still noticeably reduced. That meant the sphere was absorbing light from even farther away.
"This absorption module is basically an ultra-enhanced solar panel."
"But unlike normal ones, it doesn't just take what hits it directly. It pulls in energy from the entire surrounding area."
"The efficiency is insane."
"The influence only completely disappears at around ten kilometers out."
"How much energy is this thing actually collecting?"
Rasa's eyes lit up.
He'd trusted the system's A-rank reward, but after pouring so many resources and manpower into it, he'd still been a little nervous. If the results had been mediocre, even if no one in the village complained, he would have been disappointed.
Now he was completely at ease.
Forget what they could actually do with all that stored energy for a second. Just the sphere's ability to absorb sunlight was already transforming the area around it into something far more livable.
Less brutal heat meant slower evaporation. Plants had a much better chance of surviving.
"With just this effect alone, we have a real shot at improving the desert. We can actually create habitable land for Sunagakure."
Suddenly, a figure entered Rasa's Byakugan vision.
It was moving underground, slithering toward them like a worm.
