Chapter 42 - Shadows Before the Vows.

By morning, Nikolai's room was locked.

He was still asleep—exhaustion clinging to him like a second skin after everything that had unfolded. The wedding had been shifted forward by two days. No one objected. Everyone needed rest—especially the tiny bride.

Lilith.

Dr. Liv had administered an injection strong enough to keep her asleep through the entire day. Her fragile body needed recovery, and her mind—already delicate—needed silence. No one dared to enter her room. No footsteps. No whispers.

It was quiet.

Too quiet.

Nikolai woke slowly, the weight of sleep dragging behind his eyes. Without a word, he stepped into the garden, shirtless, his laptop already open in his hands as his fingers moved across the keyboard with practiced precision.

His phone rang.

He picked it up without checking the caller ID.

"Hello?" he said, voice deep, tired, still heavy with sleep.

A female voice answered—dark, smooth, unsettling.

"Your tiny wife looks too peaceful while sleeping."

Nikolai's fingers froze.

It wasn't the woman who poisoned Lilith.

"Who is this?" he asked, his tone instantly sharp.

A soft chuckle echoed through the line.

"Remember Saint Petersburg State University? Back in Russia? Nick… you used to follow me. You were obsessed. I messed up… and now you've become…" she paused, voice dripping with twisted admiration, "…beyond my imagination. And I want you."

Silence.

"I've been watching you for years," she continued. "And now that tiny bitch—"

"Don't ever call my wife a bitch again!" Nikolai snapped, his voice lethal. "Get that straight. I don't know you. I don't care how you got my number. Don't call again. And don't you dare try to attack her…"

His voice dropped into something deadly.

"Or I will kill you."

A pause.

"Get lost."

He ended the call.

Taran—Massimo—walked over and sat beside him.

"Another one?" he asked casually.

Nikolai exhaled, running a hand through his hair.

"Well… half of the work is ready," Taran added. "Now we wait."

Nikolai nodded slowly.

Just then, multiple cars pulled up.

The doors opened, and a tall man stepped out.

His presence was commanding—danger wrapped in elegance.

He spotted Nikolai immediately and walked toward him.

"Buongiorno, Nikolai. È passato tanto tanto tempo."

(Good morning, Nikolai. It's been a long, long time.)

Nikolai's jaw tightened.

The man smirked.

Salvatore Greco.

Leader of both La Fratellanza Rossa—The Red Brotherhood—and Famiglia Nero—The Black Family.

"Fucker," Nikolai muttered under his breath.

Salvatore chuckled. "Come on, Capo. It's your wedding. Why so moody?"

Guards brought a chair. He sat, casually unbuttoning his red suit jacket.

Taran leaned closer to Nikolai.

"Brother… Lily is still asleep. Sohan just fed her."

Salvatore's eyebrow lifted.

"Wait… Sohan Muard? You married the Gem of the Obsidian Trail? The Muard Empire's pride?"

Nikolai didn't look at him.

"Hm."

His eyes remained fixed on the direction of Lilith's room.

"Everywhere is guarded," he murmured. "She's safe."

Then his gaze snapped back.

"Now speak. Who are those women?"

Salvatore leaned back.

"There are three."

Nikolai's expression hardened.

"Back in school… you were trying to get one of them," Salvatore continued. "But she did something horrible. You got arrested for it. They pinned everything on you. Her father was the richest man in the city—untouchable."

Nikolai stood abruptly.

Flashbacks crashed into him.

Rain.

Cold metal handcuffs.

Laughter.

Police brutality.

Accusations.

"Predator."

"Disgusting."

"Monster."

Then—

The truth.

He was innocent.

Too late.

Her family came begging. Apologies. Regret.

But Nikolai had looked them in the eye and said:

"I swear… your entire family will bow at my feet. Mark my words."

He had walked away into the rain.

"Brother."

A voice cut through.

"Here. You haven't eaten."

Salvatore's eyes lifted.

And froze.

Zhanna.

"Zee…" he whispered.

She dropped the tray.

Her expression darkened instantly.

"You bloody fucker."

Her gun was already in her hand—pointed straight at him.

Salvatore leaned back, smiling lazily.

"Hi, baby."

"Baby!?" Taran choked.

"I am not your baby, old man," Zhanna snapped.

"Quiet," Nikolai said sharply.

His eyes returned to Salvatore.

"The second and third."

Salvatore sighed.

"The second woman… is extremely dangerous. She leads Chyornye Vdovy—The Black Widows."

Nikolai's eyes widened.

"That's the second-ranked mafia women's group in Russia…"

His voice cracked slightly.

Not out of fear for himself.

For Lilith.

"Yes," Salvatore said. "Sixteen members. Drug empires. Casinos. Money laundering. Power wrapped around their fingers."

He leaned forward.

"The meaning of her name… is death."

Silence.

"She needs to be protected. If not…" he paused, his tone unusually serious, "…she won't survive the next two months."

Nikolai pressed his fingers to his forehead.

"She will live," he said quietly. "I'm not losing her again."

Zhanna crossed her arms.

"Eat. Or I'll tell Lily you skipped breakfast."

He sighed.

"Fine."

He took the plate and began eating.

Inside the mansion…

Mr. William sat alone in his room, cigarette smoke curling through the air.

The door creaked open.

"Willy?"

He turned.

Francesca stood there.

"Frankie… need something?"

She didn't answer.

Instead, she removed her coat. Then her jewelry.

She stepped forward slowly, her movements soft, deliberate.

"Cuddles… please," she whispered, her doe eyes meeting his.

William's expression softened.

He stood, pulling off his shirt, leaving only his boxers.

He lifted her effortlessly into his arms.

Their eyes locked.

They lay down together.

She kept staring at him.

"Need something?" he asked quietly.

Instead of answering—

She leaned forward.

Their noses brushed.

And she kissed him.

Slow. Unexpected.

His eyes closed.

His hand moved into her hair, pulling her closer.

The silence of the room dissolved into warmth—into something long lost and finally found again he licked the bottom of her lips with his tongue, she gave him full to dominate her mouth he push and suck her tongue lovingly as she moan into the kiss Take this off he commanded her as she took her blue lace bra went her boobies dropped inviting him for a taste Bloody hell William whispered.

He took her hard nipples into his mouth licking up and down making her moan softly as her fingers dug into his hair he removed his long strong cock are u sure? He whispered she nodded he slammed his cock inside her pussy Ah Mhmhm she said as he kept thrusting faster and harder Fuck! He said he pound her wet Folded while she moan loudly and the doors stay locked.

Two days passed.

Preparations were complete.

Dresses ready.

The mansion alive once more.

Nikolai's room remained locked—he was preparing for their wedding night.

In the Muard mansion…

Tamanna sat at her desk, writing tirelessly.

Her father, Mr. Kadeon, entered quietly, holding a dress.

"Tammy…"

She looked up.

"Hmm?"

"I got this for you."

He placed it on the bed and sat beside her.

His voice softened.

"What you did… wasn't your fault. You were following orders."

She froze.

"I'm sorry," he continued. "For not being there. For ignoring you. For making you feel like you weren't enough."

Tears slipped down his face.

"That's all I ever wanted to hear, Dad…"

She hugged him tightly.

Outside the window, Sohan and Ishaan watched, smiling.

"Baba!!!"

A tiny voice rang out.

Lilith came skipping happily.

Sohan's face lit up.

"My baby—you're awake!"

"G…g…guess what!" Lilith said excitedly.

"What is it, love?" Ishaan asked.

"I had a p…p…pretty dream!"

"Oh? Tell us."

She tapped her belly.

"Lily had a r…r…really big tummy… and Nikki part tummy!"

Sohan blinked.

"You mean… you were pregnant?"

She nodded eagerly.

"And?"

"I had a l…l…little g…g…girly mini Nikki!"

She spun happily.

Sohan burst out laughing.

"How many babies?"

She counted on her fingers.

"Five!"

"WOAH!" Ishaan laughed.

"How many girls?"

She showed four fingers.

"And boys?"

One finger.

Ishaan recorded everything and sent it to Nikolai.

Sohan kissed her forehead.

"But baba… Lily wants four babies… will Nikki give Lily?"

Ishaan sighed.

"She's not ready for this conversation…"

Sohan smiled gently.

"Don't worry. God will bless you, okay?"

"Mkay!"

She skipped away.

"This is going to be tough," Ishaan muttered.

"Hell yeah," Sohan replied.

Meanwhile… in Russia.

A dark room.

Walls covered with pictures of Nikolai.

A projector flickered.

A woman stood watching.

A black snake tattoo coiled around her neck.

A spider inked into her hand.

She smiled.

"Aww… look how handsome he is…"

A guard nodded nervously.

"He is mine."

Gunshot.

The guard dropped dead.

"Anyone else?" she shouted.

Silence.

A man stepped forward, drinking whiskey.

"Can you stop this nonsense? He's married."

She laughed.

"You don't understand."

"The wife… is not normal. She's dangerous. The Queen of the underworld. People bow to her."

The woman's smile widened.

"Nikolai's tiny wife… won't even see it coming."

"She took poison for him," the man warned. "He protects her like a fortress. Back off."

"I always get what I want," she said coldly. "And I will have him."

The man shook his head.

"Good luck. You'll need it."

Back in India…

Nikolai stood in his room.

Finished.

Perfect.

He looked around slowly.

A smile spread across his face.

"She'll love it."

He even did a small, rare happy dance.

Then his expression shifted.

It was time.

Time to bring his bride.

His Queen.

To her castle.

Her home.
