Chapter 137 - One Hundred and Thirty Six: The City That Remembered Her

The Sanctuary at the Edge of Dawn floated silently beneath eternal sunrise.

Golden skies stretched endlessly above shattered crystal towers while rivers of living light flowed gently through the ruins like veins carrying ancient memories. Massive bridges hung suspended between floating islands, some broken by time, others still glowing faintly with forgotten power.

Everything here felt… alive.

Not in the ordinary sense.

But as though the sanctuary itself remembered the beings who once walked its halls.

Luke stood frozen at the edge of the pathway, staring at the impossible city before him.

The warm voice still echoed inside his mind.

Welcome home, my little star.

His chest tightened painfully.

"That was her…" he whispered.

Lucien looked sharply toward him.

"You heard Celestia?"

Luke nodded slowly, unable to look away from the glowing sanctuary.

The pendant around his neck pulsed again.

And then the impossible happened.

The ancient city reacted.

One by one, dormant lights awakened across the floating ruins. Golden symbols ignited along broken towers. Crystal rivers brightened. Ancient pathways that had been dark for ages slowly illuminated beneath Luke's presence.

The sanctuary was responding to him.

The neutral guardians stared in stunned silence.

Even the Spirit Guide looked unsettled now.

The city recognizes his resonance completely…

The Father of All stepped forward slowly, awe visible even in his ancient eyes.

"I never thought I would witness this place awaken again."

Luke barely heard him.

Something deeper was pulling at him now.

Calling him forward.

Without realizing it, he took a step toward the city.

The moment his foot touched the ancient golden bridge leading inward.

WHOOM.

A massive pulse of light exploded across the sanctuary.

The skies themselves shimmered violently as streams of golden energy spread through every ruined structure. Ancient bells echoed across the floating kingdom for the first time in countless ages.

Figures appeared.

Luke gasped softly.

Transparent golden silhouettes slowly materialized throughout the sanctuary streets. Ancient people. Architects. Guardians. Spirits from a forgotten age.

Not fully alive.

Not entirely memories either.

Echoes.

The city remembered its people.

The neutral guardians stepped back nervously.

One glowing figure walked past Luke peacefully carrying crystal scrolls. Another stood silently near a broken fountain staring toward the eternal sunrise.

The sanctuary had awakened its past.

Lucien instinctively moved closer to Luke protectively.

"I don't like this."

The Spirit Guide narrowed its eyes thoughtfully.

These are resonance echoes. The sanctuary is reconstructing fragments of stored memories.

Luke watched the ancient figures in awe.

Then his eyes widened.

One of the echoes looked directly at him.

A young woman dressed in golden robes.

And for a split second…

She smiled at him exactly like Celestia used to in the visions.

Luke's breath caught.

Before he could move toward her, the echo vanished into light.

The group slowly entered deeper into the sanctuary.

Everywhere they walked, ancient ruins awakened around Luke's presence. Dormant gardens bloomed with glowing flowers. Cracked towers repaired themselves partially as if trying to remember their former glory.

The pendant never stopped glowing now.

Neither did the city.

"It's reacting to both him and the pendant," Celestia's mother whispered softly.

The Father of All nodded.

"The resonance connection is far stronger than expected."

Lucien remained tense the entire time. His infernal instincts clearly hated this place despite its beauty.

"Something's wrong," he muttered quietly.

Luke turned toward him.

"What do you mean?"

Lucien looked around the empty golden streets carefully.

"This place is too quiet."

The words settled heavily.

And suddenly Luke realized his father was right.

There were echoes everywhere.

Light everywhere.

Ancient energy everywhere.

But no living guardians.

No protectors.

Nothing truly alive.

The sanctuary felt abandoned.

As though something terrible had happened here long ago.

Then the Spirit Guide stopped abruptly.

Its massive silver eyes narrowed ahead.

We are not alone.

Immediately, everyone froze.

The winds across the sanctuary shifted unnaturally.

The glowing echoes vanished instantly.

Silence returned.

Then slowly…

Darkness began spreading across the golden streets ahead of them.

Not primordial corruption.

Something colder.

Ancient armored figures emerged from the shadows one by one.

Dozens of them.

Tall beings clad in cracked golden armor with glowing white eyes beneath broken helmets. Massive spears rested in their hands while faded Balance symbols covered their armor.

Luke stared in shock.

"Who are they?"

The Father of All's expression darkened immediately.

"The Dawn Sentinels…"

The Spirit Guide lowered itself protectively.

Impossible. They were supposed to be extinct.

One of the armored beings stepped forward slowly.

Its voice echoed like ancient metal grinding together.

"No living soul may approach the Heart."

Golden spears ignited simultaneously across the ruined streets.

Lucien immediately drew his sword.

"We don't have time for this."

But before anyone could move,

The lead Sentinel suddenly looked directly at Luke.

Then it froze completely.

The white light inside its eyes flickered violently.

Slowly… unbelievably…

The ancient guardian dropped to one knee.

The other Sentinels followed immediately.

The entire street fell silent.

Luke blinked in confusion.

Then the lead Sentinel spoke again.

This time its ancient voice carried shock.

"The Blood of Dawn…"

The pendant around Luke's neck blazed like a miniature sun.

And somewhere deep within the sanctuary…

Something ancient began waking up.
