Stephanie's POV
Cliff let out a laugh, cold and mocking. "Right." He took steps toward me; something about the way he looked sent chills down my spine. It was the look of a maniac. I could feel this suffocating air around me telling me apologizing was better than arguing. I gulped, my legs weakening while my body screamed to run away. He was scary, not like anything before.
"So you laugh at his joke? Right, Catherine?" Cliff's voice turned colder and harsher. It was like a slap to my face. The way his voice mocked me was like a reminder that I was nothing but a homewrecker. Cliff never called me Catherine. He never looked like this either. The familiar look of disgust from him was something I never dreamed of.
