After Star Platinum unlocked The World and reached level six, its maximum level, Linto's ability to take on enemies one-on-one was enough to handle most opponents.
But against hard-to-kill enemies like Orochimaru, cult leaders, and White Snake Sage, Linto struggled a bit.
"I need more wide-range area-of-effect (AOE) attacks."
"The little plane is okay, but its missiles are only good against regular ninja. They're too slow and weak to hit stronger enemies, and even if they do, it won't kill them."
"I also need a damage-over-time (DOT) ability that keeps hurting enemies."
"Something that causes constant damage once it hits, stopping them from healing."
"And it would be great if I had some healing ability too."
"Thinking this way, Red Magician, Subspace Air, Crazy Diamond, Golden Wind would be ideal..."
Linto thought for a while, then chuckled to himself.
It seemed like he needed everything, but the system wasn't a wish-granting machine. It wouldn't just give him whatever he wanted.
Linto could only do what he always did: play the cards he had well.
He gently rubbed his cheek.
With 6477 soul fragments, Linto's budget for today was 4000 fragments. He would stop drawing after he got a suitable Stand and use the rest to upgrade his existing Stands.
"4000 fragments equals 400 draws. Based on the usual rate of one five-star Stand per 160 draws, if my luck isn't too bad today, I should get two or three five-star Stands."
Linto took a deep breath and clapped Clap.
"Let's do this—"
"Draw cards!"
The sound of coins dropping in an arcade filled the air as soul fragments rapidly disappeared.
Ten draws... fifty draws... one hundred draws...
One hundred and fifty draws... one hundred and sixty draws.
"Still nothing?!"
Linto invested again.
One hundred and seventy... one hundred and eighty!
His vision went dark, and stars fell from the blue sky. Linto closed his eyes and listened carefully—
Ding ding ding ding ding!
Five-star!
It's here!
Starlight gathered into a small sphere.
Item Name: Zeppeli's Iron Balls
Five-star.
Owner: Gyro Zeppeli
Description: Records the golden spin technique passed down through the Zeppeli family.
Note: "The spin technique is very difficult. Can you learn it, Linto?"
Linto caught the green iron ball falling from the sky.
The iron ball was about the size of a tennis ball, fitting easily in his palm.
As he held it, Linto received a series of iron ball throwing and spinning techniques in his mind.
"A five-star item after a long time... and it's the iron ball technique."
The "golden spin" came from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 7: Steel Ball Run. It was a magical ability passed down through the Zeppeli family.
In the manga, the Zeppeli family were executioners for generations. To allow executed criminals to face death calmly, they created the iron ball technique, using the "spin" to relax the criminal's muscles for a painless death with a single strike.
But in Steel Ball Run, the golden spin could do much more, from throwing for combat to vibration detection and even physical healing.
The "golden spin" was like "ripple energy," a versatile technique that was almost as good as a Stand.
As for why ripple energy was only four stars while the golden spin was five stars...
Linto guessed it was mostly because ripple energy focused on "self-cultivation," while the golden spin was for "defeating enemies."
Especially after mastering Lesson 5 of the golden spin, he could unleash the cavalry spin, which could break through dimensions and cause aging with a single hit.
This was a true cause-and-effect attack that would never end.
"However, the cavalry spin's attack power is far beyond what a five-star item should have."
The system's star ratings are still pretty balanced.
"This means that mastering Lesson 5 won't be easy."
Otherwise, without restrictions, it would be easy to learn and incredibly powerful... and the star rating would definitely increase to six.
No matter how many limitations there were, the golden spin made up for Linto's lack of pursuit ability and even gave him the chance to kill across dimensions.
"Once I master the golden spin, if I run into Masked Man again, I'll just use a golden spin on him. Let's see how many Sharingan he can waste."
One hundred and eighty draws, and he got the golden spin.
This was a good sign.
Linto put away the iron ball.
"Continue."
Ten draws... twenty draws... thirty draws.
His vision went dark again.
So fast?!
Ding ding ding ding.
Four sounds.
A four-star Stand... but getting a four-star in just thirty draws was definitely worth it.
Linto waited for the starlight to fade away—
Stand Name: Burning Down the House
Four-star.
Owner: Emporio Alniño
Ability: Opens hidden ghost rooms in the cracks of reality. Allows entry for short rests, storage of items, or the use of objects originally in the room, such as books and food, but food can only be tasted and does not provide actual nourishment.
To activate the ability, a "crack" must be found. After ten seconds, it can be designated as the "entrance" to the ghost room.
If the enemy discovers the crack, they can also enter.
Once the ability is deactivated, items within the ghost room are preserved, but anyone inside – enemies or allies – will be ejected through the crack and returned to reality.
Current Level: 1
Note 1: Take a break once in a while.
Note 2: If you listen closely, you can hear the sound of pure oxygen; if you listen carefully, you can hear the whimpering of cowards.
"This Stand..."
JoJo Stands generally fall into two categories: mechanism-based or stat-based. Linto's Star Platinum: The World was a perfect example of both.
"Burning Down the House" completely abandoned stats and focused purely on its mechanism.
Linto found a crack and activated the ability.
After a short wait, the ghost room was constructed. He reached out to touch the crack, and a huge force pulled him in. The next moment, he was lying on a tatami mat.
"An unfamiliar ceiling... no, not unfamiliar."
Linto sat up.
Across from him was a TV, with two game controllers below it. The hum of a refrigerator came from nearby. Linto turned to see a small courtyard outside.
He remembered clearly that the gravel in the courtyard was a bit uncomfortable on his butt.
"The ghost room created by Burning Down the House is 'my' abandoned Uchiha house when I died?"
Linto stepped out of the room, the gravel crunching under his feet as he pushed open the courtyard gate.
Outside was complete darkness.
The house and courtyard were the extent of the ghost room.
"I could put knives and road rollers in the ghost room. When I fight someone, I could set up the 'crack' beforehand and then use time stop to move the road roller out and crush them?"
That was one use of it.
Besides that, he could also use it as a storage space for large items he used often.
Either way, it came from just thirty draws, so it wasn't a loss.
He had 190 draws left in his budget.
Continue.
It seemed like getting Stands early had used up Linto's luck. He used up all 190 draws without getting any new Stands or items.
Linto's breathing became slightly faster, and his jaw muscles tightened.
"One last time. If something comes out, great. If not, I'll stop."
Another ten draws went in.
Finally, his vision went dark for the third time, and...
This time, the darkness was deeper than ever before!
Ding ding ding ding ding.
Five stars.
The starlight turned into a human-shaped silhouette.
The silhouette held its hands in front of its chest, arms crossed.
The light suddenly released, then disappeared as if sucked into a black hole. In that moment—
A Stand with scarlet light rising from its body appeared in the air, meeting Linto's cold gaze.
"Killer Queen"
Linto looked at Killer Queen, then at the iron ball in his hand.
An idea formed in his mind:
"Golden Spin - First Bomb?"
