Chapter 11 - Chapter 10 — Seraphine Part 2: Zenca Forest

"Are you hurt?"

What a headache… I can't think of anything. Whose voice is that?

It's the one of. . .

"Get away from me, bandit!"

I panicked; I didn't even open my eyes and I slapped him several times.

"Hey, hey, hey! Calm down! I'm not a bandit!"

I calmed down and saw a strange boy. His appearance is a bit wild. He is dressed in animal skin, doesn't wear a shirt and carries a spear.

Hum. . .

He must be a hunter, I speculated.

"Ah, I'm sorry. . . I was running away from a thief."

I tried to explain the situation.

"Thief? Where?"

He started attacking in all directions with the spear, trying to protect himself.

I started laughing nonstop.

"You're laughing?"

He stopped and got embarrassed.

"What place is this?"

He breathed for a few moments and scratched his head.

"This is Zenca Forest. You're not from here, are you? Your clothes are different from the people in the city."

I'm wearing jeans and a pink blouse. It's not ugly like that.

"What is your name?"

I'm curious; I even forgot the thief.

"My name is Brick. And what is yours?"

He got bothered because I asked his name. He poked the ground with the spear to disguise it.

A part of me wanted to laugh, but the other part stopped me.

"Brick, what are your parents' names?"

Brick stayed quiet for a few seconds. . .

"My father's name is Brick, and my mother's, Mortar."

Ah. . .

Why did I ask.

Why am I frustrated? I really expected those names.

"Brick, my name is Seraphine."

I held out my hand, and he helped me up.

After he helped me up, I could see him closely, since the sun reflected and cast a shadow on his face.

I can't believe this.

I knelt down, indignant. He looked at me without understanding anything; he must think I'm crazy.

"What is it? Are your legs hurt?"

He seems like a good boy.

"It's that you have hair."

I commented, a little down.

"The men of my tribe are all hairy."

He slid his fingers through his hair.

"Let's get out of this place. Soon it will fill with ogres."

"What? Ogres? What do you mean? Explain that better."

He pulled me by the hand.

In Zenca Forest there are three different groups of beings.

The first are the ogres, who follow the orders of Altus Pervertus, an individual who has a somewhat suspicious character. The function of this group is to capture women, but I can't say what they do with them.

Brick described this calmly, as if it were normal.

A group of ogres ruled by Altus Pervertus.

I can't imagine what kinds of things they do.

"And the second group?"

I looked around.

The green trees matched the environment, some animals ran in front of us and climbed up to throw fruit at us.

"The second group that my father leads is a men-only tribe. We practice hunting and fishing and. . ."

"Your tribe is made only of men, but you just said you have a mother. I got confused."

We stopped a little to look at the river that split the road. It's so beautiful, I've never seen crystal-clear water like this.

Brick crouched down and started playing with the fish, is he not going to answer?

"The third group is the Witches, although I have never seen them, my father has already fought them."

I froze when I heard that.

"Seraphine, why did you stop?"

Brick was in the middle of the river waiting for me to cross.

"Are you kidding, right?"

He has to be messing with me. . .

The branches in the brush started breaking and the leaves made noise. The river is a little shallow, it's easy to move, I'm going to run, I imagined. But...

I got my sandal stuck on some branch in the water and fell face-first, Brick will think I'm clumsy.

"Look here what you were afraid of."

It's a rabbit.

I was speechless to answer him, I started throwing water in his face, and that way, he answered me too.

We got distracted for a few moments for an ogre to appear. He carried a huge sword and a shield, but why is he wearing a pink apron?

"Careful Brick, behind you!"

I pulled his left arm, making him trip and fall beside me.

"Sorry Brick, I just wanted."

He got up and went into combat stance, looked at me and went to fight the ogre.

The ogre's sword cut the wind at an overwhelming speed, while Brick dodged each strike. The ogre tried to advance to knock him into the water, but Brick defended himself using the spear, which is made of iron. The sound of each weapon clash echoed through the forest, making the birds fly away.

The ogre pinned Brick by pressing him with the sword, but Brick pushed off with his legs and shoved the monster, and in the same moment he delivered a blow, but the ogre defended with the shield.

"You are that old man's son, of course, those clothes and your spear give you away."

The ogre started talking.

I need to do something, I can't just stand still.

I grabbed two big leaves and lifted them out of the water like a cheerleader:

"B R I C K, Brick is the best fighter in the forest!"

I spun twice in the water like a top.

Brick looked at me, got distracted, and took a shield bash to the face.

A cheerleader never gives up.

"O G R E, the ogre is a dummy, thinks he's strong, but wears a pink apron like my grandma!"

The ogre got distracted by me and in that moment Brick stabbed his spear into the monster's belly.

"Bastard!" the ogre got furious.

"Be careful, girl, the tribe of boy is."

Brick shoved the spear deeper into the ogre, making him kneel in the water. Brick braced his leg on the monster's shoulder and pushed, then pulled the spear out and licked it.

How disgusting. . .
