Chapter 207 - BJK Chapter 207: The Hidden Space

As the battle grew increasingly intense, Ren was violently forced back several steps by one of Yoruichi's punches, but he didn't fall. Stabilizing his stance, he lunged forward once more. This time, his fists blazed with dark red spiritual pressure flames, colliding head-on with Yoruichi's pale green Reiatsu.

The shockwaves from the spiritual pressure explosions rippled outward, blasting away all the loose debris on the ground. Inside the cavern, the two figures clashed at breakneck speeds. Wave after wave of shockwaves from their colliding spiritual pressures rippled outward. Loose rocks crumbled from the cavern walls, and cracks spiderwebbed across the ground, far more terrifying than before.

Ren remained at a disadvantage, but he was no longer being completely overwhelmed as he had been initially. Although his mastery of Shunko wasn't as refined as Yoruichi's, his Kaido was constantly at work, knitting his wounds back together. This drastically boosted his endurance, slowly grinding away at Yoruichi's stamina.

More importantly, his proficiency with Shunko was steadily rising throughout the fight. With every collision and every parry, the fragments shedding from her body helped his physical form become increasingly attuned to the flow of this power.

Yoruichi grew increasingly thrilled the longer they fought. Ren's strength far exceeded her expectations. Though his grasp of Shunko was inferior to hers, his rate of improvement was staggering. After every single exchange, he would adjust and optimize his form for the next collision, steadily growing stronger.

After trading dozens more blows, Yoruichi suddenly broke off the engagement, leaping back to widen the distance. Ren also stopped, panting heavily. Just then, both of them sensed another spiritual pressure approaching from the entrance of the cavern.

Yoruichi glanced at Ren. Though her battle lust hadn't fully faded, she was satisfied enough with the bout. She reined in her spiritual pressure, giving him a knowing look. Understanding her silent signal, Ren deactivated his Shunko as well.

Footsteps echoed from a distance, drawing closer. Urahara Kisuke's figure materialized at the entrance of the cavern. Dressed in casual clothes and holding a file, he looked like he had just returned from the outside world.

Stepping into the hollow, he paused slightly at the sight. The rock walls were heavily gouged with fresh craters and fractures, while the ground was littered with rubble and shredded fabric. Ren stood a short distance away, completely shirtless, the dark red flames around his back and shoulders slowly dissipating. The entire area was heavily scarred with craters and cracks, the air still thick with the residual heat of exploding spiritual pressure.

Urahara's eyes darted between them. Glancing from Yoruichi to Ren, his smile turned somewhat subtle. He had already sensed the clashing spiritual pressures before entering the Sokyoku cavern, but seeing the two of them firsthand still brought a mild wave of surprise.

"Captain Yoruichi," his tone carried a hint of testing, "what brings you here so suddenly? And... what exactly happened here?"

Yoruichi walked over to the side, picked up Ren's discarded Shihakusho, and tossed it back to him. "My hands were itching for a fight, so I wanted to find someone to spar with. I couldn't find you, so I ended up here." She glanced at Ren, a smirk playing on her lips, and nudged her chin toward him. "I didn't expect him to be this good. It almost makes me want to transfer him back to the Onmitsukido... Just kidding."

Ren caught the uniform and draped it over his shoulders. He was still breathing hard, sweat dripping down his temples. A pulse of Kaido circulated within him, mending the minor internal strains.

Yoruichi dusted off her clothes and began sauntering toward the exit. As she passed Urahara, she stopped and gave him a sideways glance. "It seems you two are keeping a few secrets from me..."

Urahara let out a sheepish chuckle, brushing it off evasively. "It's nothing major, Captain Yoruichi. We just have a tiny bit of collaboration going on."

"Oh, really?" Yoruichi's expression was openly skeptical as she clicked her tongue. But knowing there was no point in pressing further if Urahara refused to talk, she added, "Well, have fun with whatever you're busy with. I'm taking off." Her silhouette vanished into the gloom.

Urahara stood in place, staring at her retreating back before turning to Ren with a rather peculiar expression. He had expected Yoruichi to question why Ren was here in the first place, but she hadn't seemed all that concerned. In that case, there was no need for him to bring it up either. "Did something... happen between you two?" Urahara asked.

Ren retrieved his Zanpakuto from the floor, sheathed it at his waist, and rotated his still-aching arms. "Nothing much. Just a quick warmup."

Urahara nodded, dropping the subject. He walked over to his workbench and set down the documents. "Alright, let's get down to business. What did you come to find me for?"

Ren took a deep breath and approached the workbench. His expression grew dead serious, his voice dropping to a low whisper. "While I was running the Garganta experiments to map the precise coordinates of Hueco Mundo, I picked up another hidden spatial ripple. And that place..." He locked eyes with Urahara. "...is located right underneath the Seireitei."

Urahara's hands froze. He snapped his head up to look at Ren, his eyes widening in instant shock. "What did you just... say?"

Silence fell over the subterranean cavern. The light from the Reishi lamps washed over them, casting long, stark shadows against the stone walls.

Urahara leaned against the edge of the workbench, crossing his arms. The usual lazy, carefree demeanor was completely gone, replaced by a grim solemnity that Ren rarely ever saw on his face. "Tell me everything. Every single detail." His voice was incredibly low, carrying a heavy, focused calm.

Ren stepped up to the workbench, picked up a blank spell matrix board, and traced a few lines across it. Faint tracks of spiritual energy left glowing marks on the matrix, sketching out the general orientation of the spatial coordinates.

"I was probing the deeper layers of Hueco Mundo, trying to widen the Garganta's tracking radius. Midway through executing the formula, an entirely foreign spatial fluctuation breached my sensory field." His finger tapped several node points on the matrix. "It wasn't Hueco Mundo, and it wasn't the World of the Living. It had an entirely unprecedented spatial signature. It was cold, pristine, and carried a bizarre sense of absolute order—almost as if it were artificially structured. It's completely different from standard spatial anomalies."

Urahara's brow knit even closer together. "Cold, pristine... a sense of order?" He echoed the terms, thoroughly turning them over in his mind.

Ren looked up at him. "So I traced that ripple to reverse-engineer its coordinates. That's when I found out that the space directly overlaps with the Seireitei."

Urahara fell silent. He walked over to the workbench, picked up the matrix board, and examined it with absolute intensity. His eyes systematically broke down the tracks of spiritual energy, meticulously analyzing the nodes and coordinates. "Can you pinpoint it again?" Urahara asked.

Ren considered it. "It shouldn't be an issue. I've already logged the spatial coordinates. As long as we anchor it with a formula, we can get a precise lock. But..." Ren paused. "I can only map the general location of the coordinates. I have absolutely no idea how to open it or explore it. Furthermore, the concealment level of that realm is incredibly high—the barrier is even denser than the boundary separating Soul Society and Hueco Mundo. A standard Garganta spell won't be able to tear it open. It feels more like... a completely distinct form of spatial technology."

Urahara set the matrix down, remaining quiet for a long while. "Hand the spatial coordinates over to me," he finally said, his voice entirely flat. "I'll investigate it."

Ren looked at him. "You have a way?"

Urahara turned around, a faint smile touching his lips. "There's always a way if you look hard enough. Besides, I've always had a profound appreciation for things hiding in the dark."

Ren fell silent for a brief moment. "Just make sure you tread lightly," he warned in a low, solemn voice. "To be able to carve out such a massive realm directly underneath the Seireitei and keep it completely hidden for so long... an organization or faction capable of that is likely far beyond anything you or I should meddle with."

Urahara looked at him, a flicker of complex emotion passing through his eyes. Then, he smiled. It was subtle, but genuinely sincere. "Don't worry. If there's one thing I excel at above all else, it's staying alive. My survival skills are top-notch." He paused. "And I've always kept a very tight leash on my curiosity."

Ren nodded and dropped the subject. Walking back to the workbench, he began setting up the spell matrix and spiritual pressure anchors. His movements were highly practiced, each step executed with flawless precision. Tracks of spiritual energy interlaced in mid-air, forming an intricate tracking formula.

Urahara stood by his side, watching silently, occasionally tossing out a question or two that Ren answered effortlessly. "This node here—are you anchoring it to the vibrational frequency of the spatial barrier?" Urahara pointed to a specific spot within the formula.

"Yes. The barrier fluctuations of that dimension are completely different from normal space; the frequency is slower and the amplitude is much smaller. It's incredibly easy to miss using standard sensory methods. It requires Hollowfied spiritual pressure to artificially amplify the scanning range."

Urahara nodded thoughtfully. "So you managed to detect it because of your Hollowfification?"

"Most likely," Ren didn't deny it. "A Soul Reaper's spiritual pressure can't register that frequency, but a Hollow's can. A Hollow's perception is far more primal and instinctual, entirely unbound by standardized spell structures."

Urahara remained silent, though the look in his eyes grew increasingly complex. Ren's mastery over spatial Kido was already on par with his own, fully qualifying him as an expert in the field.

The formula was fully assembled in short order. Ren took a step back, gesturing for Urahara to step forward.

Urahara walked into the center of the spell configuration, closing his eyes as he infused his spiritual pressure into the nodes. His perception extended outward along the lines of spiritual energy, piercing through the spatial thresholds to brush against the coordinates tucked away between the seams of reality. His brow knit tighter and tighter. "It really is there," he murmured, opening his eyes. His voice was low. "And the sheer scale of that pocket dimension is far more massive than what you described."

Ren said nothing. He knew exactly what it was. The Wandenreich—the empire of the Quincies, the lair of Yhwach. A force that had hidden within the shadows of the Seireitei for a millennium had unexpectedly been grazed by his hand today.

Urahara turned around to look at him. "Do you plan on telling Aizen about this?"

Ren fell silent for a brief moment, turning it over in his mind. If he told Aizen, how would Aizen react? Would he become fascinated by this dimension? Would he try to exploit it or use this information as leverage against Soul Society? There was no way to predict it. "Not for now," Ren finally stated. "Until you can reach a definitive conclusion, it's best to keep everyone else completely in the dark about this place."

Urahara looked at him, a flash of approval glinting in his eyes. "My thoughts exactly."

The two exchanged a glance, leaving the matter at that. Some things didn't need to be spoken aloud; they both understood the stakes.

With the matters handled, Ren began packing up his gear. He put away the matrix boards and spiritual pressure anchors, preparing to make his exit. Standing to the side, Urahara watched his retreating back before suddenly speaking up. "Hasumi."

"Yeah?"

"Let's keep Captain Yoruichi out of this for now."

Ren's fingers paused slightly. He turned around to look at Urahara. The man's face was unreadable, but Ren could read the absolute seriousness hidden in the depths of his eyes. "Got it." He nodded, offering no further comment.

For some things, knowledge was nothing but a burden to those who shouldn't carry it. Yoruichi had her own station, her own duties, and domains she shouldn't step into. Urahara didn't want to drag her into this mess just yet, and Ren completely understood his reasoning.

Ren finished packing up and headed toward the cavern exit. His steps were steady, his expression entirely placid. As he stepped outside, the cool moonlight spilled over him, carrying a crisp chill. Suddenly, his footsteps halted.

Yoruichi's figure materialized—she hadn't left at all. She was standing right outside the entrance, leaning her back against the rock face with her arms crossed. Her golden eyes glinted faintly under the moonlight, her long hair swaying gently in the night breeze. She had clearly been waiting for quite some time.

Ren blinked in surprise. "Captain Yoruichi, you're still here?"

Yoruichi turned her head toward him. "Waiting for you."

Ren raised an eyebrow, walking over to stop right in front of her. "Is there something else?"

Yoruichi didn't answer immediately. She simply gazed at him, her eyes flickering slightly. It wasn't a gaze of scrutiny or curiosity, but something deeper and far more intricate.

"Urahara and I have worked together for a very long time," she finally spoke, her voice low yet perfectly distinct. "I know that guy inside out. He loves messing around with bizarre inventions and prying into issues most people wouldn't dare touch. But his heart is in the right place." She paused. "Lately, though, he's been acting strange. Sneaking around, being evasive, laughing off any questions I throw at him. I can feel it—something major is brewing."

Ren remained silent.

Yoruichi's gaze grew profound. "Since he refuses to tell me, I won't pry. I trust that when the time comes for me to know, I'll know." She paused, her voice suddenly taking on a strict tone. "But as for you, Hasumi. I don't want to see you get dragged into something incredibly dangerous. If you ever run into trouble, you can always come to me."

Ren looked at her, staying quiet for a moment. Yoruichi was genuinely worried about him—both as his former captain and superior, and as a veteran within the Seireitei. She truly didn't want him pulled into whatever schemes Urahara Kisuke was running. Unsure of how best to respond, Ren simply lowered his head and murmured softly, "I understand. Thank you for looking out for me, Captain Yoruichi."

Yoruichi looked at him, the corners of her lips turning up into a slight smile. "You're exceptionally strong," she said, reaching out to pat his shoulder. "When there's another opening, let's go a few rounds again."

Ren raised his eyes to meet hers. Under the pale moonlight, her smile was warm and thoroughly bright—worlds apart from the fierce Goddess of Flash who had relentlessly traded blows with him inside the cavern. "Alright," he nodded.

Yoruichi pulled her hand back, turning around to walk down the hill. After a mere few steps, her silhouette abruptly vanished. She had departed using Shunpo, moving so blindingly fast that she left no physical trace behind. Only the night wind continued to blow, brushing a cool chill across Ren's cheeks. Standing perfectly still, Ren stared at the empty space where she had been for a long while. Then, he turned on his heel and walked back toward the Fourth Division barracks.
