ELIANA'S POV
The moment the first torch beam cut through the tunnel entrance I raised the shotgun and fired. The sound that exploded through that narrow space was nothing short of catastrophic, a sharp deafening crack that had no room to go anywhere except straight back at us, bouncing off every wall simultaneously and filling the entire tunnel with a noise so sudden and so complete that the men pouring through the entrance scattered before their minds had even begun processing what their ears had just received.
That was exactly what I needed.
I needed to cause a chaos.
I moved immediately, stepping out of the spot the beam had found me in, repositioning in the dark while the echo was still rolling through the tunnel walls. In a space like this, darkness was not my enemy. It never had been. These men had torches but torches needed to be aimed and aiming required knowing where your target was standing.
I didn't intend to stand anywhere long enough for that to be useful to them.
