Eliana's Pov
"Shhh. Keep moving." Kael's voice was low and steady, cutting through the thick darkness ahead of us as he moved forward without slowing down.
I followed closely, one hand trailing the damp wall beside me for guidance, my footsteps falling as quietly as I could manage against the uneven ground beneath us.
The tunnel was narrow and suffocating, the kind of space that seemed to shrink further the longer you moved through it. The smell hit differently down here, it was dense and stale and layered with something older than I wanted to think about. The walls glistened with moisture where the faint light from Kael's small torch caught them, and somewhere ahead water dripped in a slow rhythm
How I wonder, I thought, as something skittered past my foot in the dark, why Don has so many creepy things in his mansion. As if his life isn't already creepy enough.
