The air in the center of the room shudders violently. It's like a glitch in reality—a jagged zig and zag of light stained with a sickening neon color gradient.
The Phantom's form flickers, her face contorting in a silent scream before the image snaps and vanishes entirely.
"She must have figured out she couldn't teleport in here without losing a limb or two," Tavric says, his voice dripping with smug satisfaction.
I find myself smiling despite the terror. "Amara is good, right?"
He nods, his gaze sweeping over me before he gestures toward the clothes on the bed. "The best. But sadly, she couldn't extend the same level of warding to the rest of the house. She has to conserve her strength for the teleportation event tomorrow."
I nod, understanding the logic, but I don't move to dress.
